"The Christmas you get you deserve"...a lesson for those politicians out there....in this conflicted world. You got it so right, Greg, but unfortunately, they weren't listening.... But your song starts Christmas for me, and my family, in Ireland. RIP - you were a legend.
This is my favourite of all time Christmas songs! It has to be the best in my opinion. Christmas just isn't Christmas until I've heard this song by Greg. Awesome!
I remember just like it was yesterday that I seen ELP in concert after the release of thier Brain Salad Surgery album, and seeing Greg on stage in his all white suit and soloing You turn me on, and Lucky Man. What a talented song writer and a voice that is just unforgettable. Rest in Peace Greg.
So did I. There are tears streaming down my face as I type this and I'm a daft old bugger aged 67. I find as get older I get more emotional .RIP and thanks for all the music Greg. Have a fantastic gig with Keith wherever you are. Merry Christmas 2019.
I never get tired of Greg's songs. I lusten to them everyday. I also listen to the Moody Blues everyday. I would rather listen to this man and the Moody Blues than what is being put out today. I miss you, Greg. You had a beautiful voice.
I remember good old, WNEW-FM...Best station ever...RIP Greg..So glad I experienced this special moment on the Moody Blues Cruise and am able to share with fellow fans...
I was a huge Beatles fan until one day my sister played an ELP album (Trilogy), I've been in love with these guys ever since. No one can write music like them. Rest in peace brother.
Having heard and known Greg almost entirely as he was singing, its EERIE to hear his hella cool and absolutely UNIQUE and instantly recognizable voice when he is speaking. :) His voice is unmistakable as the voice of 'Still, You Turn Me On' (one of the sweetest, and possibly the coolest love songs written), 'Lucky Man', 'From the Beginning', and yes, I'm a LEGIT G.L. fan, all his incredible HARD ROCK progressive work with ELP. Seriously, Brain Salad Surgery is irrefutably one of the most groundbreaking and thouroughly before its time, hella original albums of its time. To heavy for some, to unconventional and frightening to others, for those open minded enough to really HEAR what only 3 guys were creating and give it a chance (or if like me, instantly loved it), the reward far, far outweighed the risk. :) Like the beautiful Ellen Jefferies so far more eloquently imparts in the post immediately below this, I gratefully want to say: dear Greg, saying thank you for the joy and emotions your music enriched my life with seems like woefully inadequate compense in return, your generosity and selflessness sharing this lives within me for the rest of my eternity, and makes you my friend, forever.
R.I.P GL - They said they'll be music in heaven this xmas - ! If there is a God he'll have a ball this xmas, after this awful year of sad musical losses.
Watching the video I noticed that from 1.04 to 1.35, the creases in the arm of Greg's tee shirt appear to form an image resembling him as a young man. Or am I mistaken?

He didn't mention that the instrumental tune in the song (that he whistles here) is actually by Sergei Prokofiev. It's the "Troika" from "Lieutenant Kije".
@@marcok.6734 No, mate, you misunderstand. He mentions "Jingle Bells" as coming to him as a bit of inspiration for the song, but if you listen to "I Believe in Father Christmas" there is an instrumental break which is a tune by Prokofiev. He whistles it here while playing the song.

At least we have his legacy of music he will never be gone as long as he is in our hearts a paraphrase of a Native American belief

Jesus is the "Eternal Father," and "Father Christmas.
Conception by Greg Lake but, credit to lyricist Pete Sinfield for conceiving that conception in his so thoughtful lyric !
Peter John Sinfield wrote the lyrics, Lake wrote the music. Kinda of dark Christmas song.
Greg's take on the commercialism of Christmas
AWESOME!
Thank you 😊
Lovely person
Like losing my older brothers.
Fabulous
What a wonderful voice.
Amazing talent
I wish that he has addressed what made him incorporate "Troika" into the song. Does anyone know that?
Thank you, I had second seating and he didn't play this for us.
❤❤❤
Watching the video I noticed that from 1.04 to 1.35, the creases in the arm of Greg's tee shirt appear to form an image resembling him as a young man. Or am I mistaken?
A total Gentleman. I can understand why he and Fripp got along. Fripp is more proper. Greg was a Bloke-Gentleman.
😍
