Hey just wanted to thank you for having posted this. I have big hands and a big head and I couldn't figure out how in the hell to get that lamp out. I frigged around with it for more than a half hour before resorting to seeking some advice here. Once I saw how you did it, I was done in about 10 minutes. Thank you, sir!
Great video on replacing headlight bulb on a Citroën C5, thanks to the inside view which makes all clear. Couldn't be better.
That's pretty easy on left head light. Right head light is nightmare to access cause of not possibility to remove hydrofluid tanks...
It was still pretty challenging, but without this video I definitely couldn't have done it all. So many many thanks for uploading. Just one point not mentioned, which is when you remove and replace the battery the engine immobilizer is activated. This is cleared by holding the lock button on the key fob when in the ignition. (Thanks to Stewart from Eurocarcare, Derby for that snippet)
Glad to hear you found that the video was helpful and thanks for the tip :)
Yeah great. With this tutorial I will give it another try, after I have cured my bleeding hands. Pics more helpful than words. Especially when can't see what's the case inside.
👍
Огромное спасибо тебе автор,я мучился час не понимал,потом нашел твоё чудесное видео и сделал всё быстро!Лайк однозначно!!!
Great VDO, I have a C6 and the left headlight went out, wondering if the C5 is similar in removing the light, because I can't find anything on youtube, on how to replace the light.
Thanks for the vid, never done that before, took around 5 minutes, works fine.
You're welcome. Happy to offer guidance and assistance :)
I did this yesterday on my c4. That wire clip fell off and down into the headlight housing. Eventually I got it out again and somehow managed to put it back in place so I could change the bulb. But I was astounded by how many bad words I know LOL
today I dropped the bulb in the housing. tried to get it out for 2mins and gave up. that space in the left side is so small. At least in punto you don't have to try to put the bulb so damn deep.
No matter how we tried we could not get the bulb to sit on the hole correctly even though it was the right bulb, the right way up. It just kept wobbling out of place whenever pressure was put on it. Any ideas very greatfully received please?
Please check to make sure there is no obstruction that may cause this.
Have you the original bulb? If so, refit it and see if it sits flush and if it does then the replacement may be out of shape
@@DrivewayDudes Hi thanks for the quick reply. In the end I can't believe I did but I resorted to popping in to see my local garage with my head held in shame at being unable to change a bulb. The previous owner had lost both bulb clips and the bulb doesn't sit snugly without it. so I has trouble making my own as I couldn't get even pressure without it moving. Lucky the garage had a couple of spare clips and put them in. The car does not take standard H7 clips so the ones in the car part shops were no good and Citroën don't do spares either so I was lucky my mechanic has some. Thanks again for the reply.
would it be possible to put aftermarket LED bulbs that have a heatsink on their back side? I'm thinking if I entirely remove the springy thing, put the bulb and then place back the spring around it maybe? Would definetely have to remove the whole headlight to do this.
Hi Rosian,
If you're going to make any adjustments or modifications please make sure you can put it back to original if needed.
Having a heatsink on LED's is possibly an indication that they are going to get very hot in which case be aware that excessive heat may cause damage or distortion to the headlight unit and/or melt the wiring.
Paul
Driveway Dudes the way im guessing it is not going to change the stock headlight. Im not sure how hot it could get but in most led bulbs there's a little fan inside the heatsink and also a little module box to control the voltage so the H7 socket on the car is not connected directly to the bulb but to a wire which leads me to thinking that it wont be damaged if the bulb gets too hot.
If the bulbs come from a reputable source that claim they are safe to use in your model then ultimately it would be your decision.
We have carried out LED upgrades on other cars but we first made sure they were designed specifically for that model.
Paul
Driveway Dudes well nowhere in the bulbs is said that they are compatible with citroen but I'm gonna ask my local dealership about that and let you know.
👍
My Haynes manual warns me to take certain precautions before battery removal. WORTH CHECKING
When removing the battery you should make sure that all switches are in the off position and you may also want to take note of any devices that may be coded like your in car entertainment system, etc.
Notice he didn't cover changing bulb on driver's side, probably still trying to work out how? It is a PITA to do righthand bulb, I moved hydraulics tank slightly for a bit mor room.
Thank you! This was helpful!
Thanks for watching. Happy to help. :)
Many thanks for your tuto
Nice video !
thank you, very helpful.
Concerning cars, the dumbest thing I ever did was selling my Renault 4. Replacing a light bulb took
It's easier to change the one on the passenger's side i bet you can't change the one on the drivers side that easy
Thanks for the heads up. We have not needed to yet but we will certainly film it when it becomes necessary.
It's taken me 3 weeks and I still haven't done it. Its so tight. You can only get one finger on the back of the bulb. I'm selling the car🤬🤬🤬
@@danielhinson6853 I did it just now fully scapred up loosened the LDS vat to reach. Dropped the light in the amrmaute too. Thought of removing fingers to make it easier. Broke the connector though can't squeeze and pulle at the same time.
Awkward to get at my driver side bulb... hardly get your hand in,and can't see what you are doing
It is awkward alright and space is tight. Hope you were successful and this video helped.
Driveway Dudes video helped alot.... many thanks, still have bulb to fit... may remove or try to remove plastic container to give me more room to move and see what I'm doing... thanks Again
Happy to help Andrew. If you can, please try and avoid touching the glass of the new bulb with bare skin as this will cause a hot spot on the glass and shorten it's life. Plastic, rubber, latex or nitrile gloves will help.
Please show us how you change the headlight bulb on the other side of the car and how to relocate the wire once its fallen out while not being able to see any of it. What were citroen thinking when they designed the c5, that everyone will not mind taking their car to the garage to change the headlight bulbs 🙄
I just tried to replace the low beam bulb on the passenger side and it took two hours for me to realize that this car is a french joke!
Hi! I am trying too... Have you been able to do this?
I have lost some hours 😅 and I haven't any more ideas about how to relocate this...😂
@@isabelmedina8022 Hi, i ended up going to a private citroen specialist. They put the bulb in by feel alone as you cannot see anything. I think it took them 10 mins

Tnx ...very very much 😊
The c5 with xenon bulbs is much harder to do!
Good to know. Must check that out. Thanks for the info :)
Manual says it must be UV-protected bulbs or the headlight reflector may be damaged.
Most of todays headlamps sold probably are..
Hi Stig R. Yes you did the right thing checking your manual first.
We demonstrated for guide purposes, a removal and fitment. We used the recommended bulb for the car. If you were to fit the wrong type of bulb, you may very well cause some damage to the reflector, the headlight lense or even the wiring.
Very helpful - thanks
+Charles French you're very welcome and thanks for watching.
couldnt get my hand in iether used long nose pliers to get in
👍
you made my day
Happy to hear that. Thanks for watching :)
Thank you.

I have an 08 citroen c5 Estate. Absolute nightmare changing drivers side headlight bulb. No room to get your hand into housing never mind about being able to see what your doing. Lost wire into housing, took an hour to retrieve and still haven't relocated the wire. So poorly designed. Never get a citroen again.
Remember to make sure the robber is correct on when finnish, otherwise youi will get a warning in the display and the car wil not start.
Thanks for the tip, we've never come across that issue ourselves :)
Thanks man, i do it...
You didnt want to show us the hassle with passenger side? 😂
Such a stupit car can’t wait to sell my
Hi Lion, The Citroën C5 is considered a good car but not to everyone's taste. Some love them, some hate them and some may be indifferent.
This is an unbiased video showing how to carry out a diy task yourself.
Driveway Dudes The Video was helpful but for a men with big hands it’s not very easy to remove it .. why do they maked this hole to tight ? I have so mutch electronic problems with this car that’s unbelievable.. the Energie is very good not one single problem in 180.000 km . But I am every month in the workshop because of the electronic . Maybe I just got the bad Modell but sometimes you really angry about that
Yes big hands may be a disadvantage. Have you tried a needle nose pliers?
When it goes into the workshop, is the technician using Citroen approved software (Lexia) to diagnose your electronic problems
I will never go more in a Citroen workshop at the end I have more problems then before . I always have bad luck with this car that’s so sick ..
I'm sorry to hear that. Every car is repairable however some may not be economically viable.
Good luck finding a car that you will be happy with and keep us updated on what car you eventually get.
