Awesome Video do one about you and Sensei Yusuke Nagano have kumite with each other
Come to Serbia plsss
Jesse My Brother, man Bas is to me the ultimate fighter that ever entered the world of full contact fighting,I have the utmost respect for him 🙏🏽☯️🙏🏽
Was just about to comment part 2 please!
Have you ever came to Scotland to learn Fu Ku? lol
Bas Rutten is extremly Frightening, but at the same time super likeable and down-to-earth. Legend
That´s what I was thinking. No arrogant at all.
Yup. When you know you're badass, you don't have to pretend to be.
Yes, totally. Brilliant man
He’s the most “a guy” type of fighter if I could describe it
He always struck me as a pure 'mirror your energy' type of guy. If you're nice and friendly with him, he'll be nice and friendly with you. If you want to be a dick and look for trouble, he has no problem doing that either.
He's now 60 and would still beat me to death in 2 seconds 😂
DonNie Yen👀😎
That's what i love about Bas. He didn't just train for sport, he trained to fight
Yeah but only if you really deserved it because he’s such a lovely man lol.
Bas was training with Ricco Rodriguez(former UFC Champ). Ricco missed a couple punches and was knocked out on his feet. lol
Like pretty much most of us.
Absolute rapid fire advice, this guy has been wanting to tell his secrets like a retired magician
He's doing it for free, unlike retired magicians 😂
Fact.
He has never been different man, go to his gym, its this every day 😅
Bas Rutten's "Lethal Self-Defense" instructional video
He’s been doing it
@scoobertmcruppert2915 bada-bing bada-boom lmao i love that video. Thank you Bas!
Went to highschool with his daughter. He came to our senior seminar, gave a really funny speech, and then choked out a teacher who volunteered. Great guy
That teachers CV:
Got choked out by Bas Rutten in 2011
Oh, and i did 25 years of teaching before that....
Was she hot?
Most Bas thing ever 😂😂
Imagine being in high school and dating Bas's teen daughter.
@maxrebo1141 “Have her home by 11 pm. “
I’d be walking her up to the door by 10:30 pm.
"Fool me once, shame on me....Fool me twice....liver shots" - Bas Rutten, probably. 😆
“Heel, heel to tha balls” - Bas Rutten definitely
😂😂
His career is a trail of broken livers.
"Fool me twice, I'm sorry sir, but I'm going to have to break your leg"
a lesson in pain
The friendliest-scariest instruction ever
That sums Bas up.
He's right up there for a guy I'd like to hang out with and wouldn't like to fight in equal measure.
op zeker! Also very funny guy
It's a very good summary of Bas. Great friend but a scary enemy.
why instruct in fighting if it does get you to the court and will be not funny.
5 yesrs in jail.
@lkkjhtemmexv1838 What??
I just watched this clip and woke up the next morning with a black eye...
next time give me a warning, I just spit coffee on my monitor...
😂😂😂
😂
Bruhh 🤣🤣
We need some Bas Rutten memes lol
That was the fastest 25 minute video I've ever watched.
Word. I was gonna go to bed thinking ok this will pass the time. Nope. Now I gotta watch the next one.
What appeared to be a casual chat ended up being a masterclass.
Amen.
It’s not often you see a video where EVERY second is pure gold. This is one of those videos
Welcome to Holland 😛
Makes up for the embarrassment of the Seagal video
The video Jessie has with the Monkey Kung Fun guy, the one that trains spec ops soldiers, was one I'd consider up there with this one.
Every Bas Rutten moment is gold.
Honestly, I wish they would go slower
Man he's still providing his own sound effects after all these years! POW! BAH! 🤣 Never change, Bas.
Bang dang ang 😂
I think he does them to control his breathing... a bit like a kiai...
It's his way of keeping the rythm. It's also a message.
Dagede dagede boink boink boom ! Oh looky here ! Bang bang doink doink !
@nama022do not do that anymore dong! Was so funny in his self defense videos
I love how this is just 25 minutes of Bas pouring out elite level knowledge and tips non-stop. Man's catching his breath from talking so fast because he truly, truly loves the game.
Bas is everything that Steven Sugell thinks he is
So true
😂
Ahahahhahah 100%
Was Chuck Norris legit in his day?
@HeartAche-e1uyes he was a genuine martial artist. Any of these guys are exaggerated for Hollywood, but he was still genuinely very experienced
Really not a clickbait, holy shit he is terrifying. I love him.
How much to fight him 1 round? Haha 🇨🇦😄
@WillBurnhue I need that paul money
@robertbenjamin1513😂 but what if you die and are not be able to spend the money,!
@robertbenjamin1513 That just might cover the medical bills and the therapy...
@WillBurnhuethen my family is set
This is the most info dense fighting video I’ve ever seen
You should see his bar fight videos, where he teaches you to use anything and everything around you as a weapon 😂
@ktfcaptainbro I remember watching that on RUclips in school. Never have had to use it, but the salt shaker, broken plate, bar stool, and keeping my hands by my face have been ingrained in my brain for 20 years😂😂
Have to watch at .5 speed.
I was thinking the same thing. So much in 25 minutes it seemed as if it was 2 hours
@ktfcaptain i was about to reply the same thing
"HE TRIED TO KILL ME"!!!!
"The more relaxed I am, the better I fight." The amount of wisdom in that statement.
jesse is visibly frightened every time bas swings at him
😂😂😂😂😂 and he is such a gentle giant
Won't you ?
You would be too lol
I would be too😅
I am and I'm not there.
Bas has a YT channel with his full fights uploaded with his own commentary over it, really recommend watching.
Really? Gotta check it out. Saw in Here comes the Boom and liked his character, but didn't knew he is an actual fighter!
"and there I kick him in the liver. Look at his eyes hooooooo" legendary commentary
Thanks
And sourdough recipes 😂
Hell yes I binged this recently and it's great!
The information is coming so fast. Imagine training with him for a year.
Your head would swell because of all the information😂
Bas’ torso twist exercise really works! In two days I am engaging my core more in my kicks and punches.
'You can do 5000 sit ups a day, if you inhaling and get hit.. that's it your done' BASS GOLD
That's why Bruce didn't work out the side abs much. Keeps your ribs closed
ahut up
@bredemeijer9648really???
@bugumeahut down
Ah well, that's an easy solution then. Always exhale. never inhale.
Bas talking like a machine gun, but never yapping, just straight knowledge, what a video
Man he is still in amazing shape. 😮
Yes, gear does wonders for the body 😂
@Nosser1 That doesn't contradict that comment about him being in great shape, so the intention behind these kind of comments is always one and the same.
@Nosser1a lifetime of combat training will also do that 😂
@mccabessupplementsandgym3913yeah, while I agree that it will do that, the odds of looking that way at that age without being "enhanced" are slim. Also I never said that it was a problem.... Only that it was a fact lol
hes sauced out of his mind
Never heard of Bas Rutten before but damn the info he just said not only opened my eyes but made me a fan of him now.
Now you know 😂
as a boxing coach .. i will re evaluate every concept again.. great video !!🥊
you can see the realization in Jesse when Bas explains traditional technique vs applied technique
One is never to old to learn, it is the unwillingness to bend from traditional styles, that disables great ability or potential in others, to evolve beyond expectation, and become the next greats. The next generation.
he's a friggin analyst when it comes to drills. He has some great gifts that most dont have, but everyone can use the drills he came up with
Have you seen a power jab like Bas teaches b4? He rotates the whole body into it almost.
I want to be a boxing coach. How do you do it?
5:51, Liver: *chuckles* -"I'm in danger"
Jesse just centimeters away from getting clocked every single time 😂😂
😂😂
Jesse was scared, Bas punched him hard
That one in the chest you could tell, even though it was just a tap, must have still had some power. Yikes.
Bas is still so scary, what an awesome dude
Bas is probably assuming he is like him, very physical. That should be something a fighter can handle, maybe Bas was testing him.
The speed and ease that he gets those punches out is so impressive.
I saw his tutorial on real street fighting scenarios, using the environment and techniques together and it was cool and terrifying at the same time. But the most important lesson he taught is "if you can avoid or run away from the fight, then run. Because there's nothing to gain on a street fight, no prize money, no title, no belt, just nasty injuries" something along those lines.
I saw it too. Crazy, ive always kind of remember what he said too. Either I end up hurt or Or I end up hurting you, or killing you. No winning really. It messes up your own life Either way.
"Bada bing, bada boom!!!.... Don't you... ever... do... this... [smashing guys head on the table]" Bas is a real beast!!!😆
also Guns
@wikingagresorthat was the best bit along with danga da danga da dang
That, and jail time.
Bas is like a wound-up spring. So much speed and energy, it's scary even through the video, lol
Yes totally! Part of you knows he is a good guy with incredible control, so he isn't going to hurt you unless it is on purpose. But then that energy that feels as if nothing can contain it just makes me feel like a bomb is going to go off at any moment. I love the guy. I'll have to rewatch his MMA career again some time soon.
Yup, and because he is so unpredictable and has so much muscle memory, even as an old man twenty years from now, he'd still be able to seriously hurt someone if he needed to defend himself.
It is almost spring as well. Love the metaphor
I've watched so many of your videos Jesse and all of them have had some valuable information but this video came out of the gate loaded. Bas was so logical, practiced, and experienced. None of his words were wasted, everything made sense. This is probably one of the best learning videos I've come across. Thanks for sharing this information guys. Respect.
Have to agree 100% on this! Baz delivers his training every bit as effectively and ferosciously, as he did his fighting. Super engaging to watch in both areas.
Try to find his older training vids on youtube they are super where he is practicing in a dojo with a training partner
I think it was a liver punch actually not kick
Agreed 👍
Wait until you see the barfight tutorial of his. Mindblowing!
For full effect you also have to make the sounds “dang, Da-da dang”
"Knee to the face, bong, bong, bong. Face to the bar, bang, bing, bong...". Some man our Bas!
Stab, in da liver
Love that video hahaha
That's the Bar fight self defense video right? Hilarious.
Bas how to go to jail but looking like a badass while doing it tutorial
@Atrivion Sure is bro. "Bas Rutten's Lethal Street Fighting". It's in two parts here on RUclips. I love it lmao. Absolute nutter.
Best guest you ever had!
What about Steven Seagull 😂
This is the level you can achieve if you master your ADHD
Bas Rutten has ADHD?
Real talk , I tell people all the time , its my super power .. once you learn it , you can use it advantageously in life 💯. I'm 36 and still have ADHD and tbh , I would not change it , granted , its hard for me to stay focused, but once I do , its Lazer focus 😅.. peace and love all, keep it rad and stay safe..l8r
Yes he does
@MydasNeomagie it's the info dump and hyper focus on his craft. The zen moments in his fights. The relaxation in training. 20:59 If this guy was a cabinet maker, he would still be world famous
omg stop spreading misinformation on adhd please. This has nothing to do with it
If I was 20 I’d want this man as my strike trainer. Dear god he makes so much sense.
Never clicked on a video so fast! Jesse and Bas? Amazing!
Never Say NEVER 😎 Justin Bieber
That block and counter it’s Goju-ryu or the drum technique in karate kid 2 if you want to see it in a movie.
Real
Same here buddy
weet je t ff
This is GOLD right here. The knowledge you get in this video is ginormous.
I remember an episode of Fight Science I think it was called. They measured the kinectic energy of kicks, so they called in Bas. After the first kick the lab guys came out and said you have to do that again because I don't believe the results. So he kicked again, harder this time. The lab guys came out confused and said a kick from Bas is worse than a car crash. It was a funny show. lol
That's the one where he created trauma to the heart wasn't it?
@scottriley5357yeah I remember that one because of that
Well, thats misleading. I'd chose a kick from a human, or even a horse, before being run over by any car, even a little one. Because of mass and velocity.
At the actual point of impact, the square inch or two involved , then yes, its possible his kick delivered more force than that part of the vehicle. But the overall force from the vehicle will kill you, or rag doll you metres through the air.
That's why I find these claims a bit silly.
@allosaurusfragilis7782I bet you he's kick force is harder than the force of a human hitting a airbag in a car while they have their seat on. As opposed to his kick force is more powerful than getting hit by a car as a pedestrian
@allosaurusfragilis7782 Your view of it is misleading also. It's not actually GETTING hit by the car itself. It's being physically in the car in a car wreck.
I was ready for part 2 six days ago. Lets go!
I trained with Bas at Legend GYM on the corner of La Brea/Hollywood Blvd early in my fight journey. Its 15 years later and still surreal. The man taught me techniques that helped in sparring every day literally. Specifically a rolling Knee bar that was so sneaky I subbed 100s with it. Also shared personal stories with me so crazy that I am not comfortable sharing here...What a life... LONG LIVE BAS RUTTEN! LEGEND
Good memories. Hope you can pass those on to future generations of kids and upstarts!
Hey man, if you're comfortable, of course, do you mind sharing that rolling knee bar technique, Bas teached You? Thank you in advance!
He looks like he's going to live forever, still built like a tank!
@lays641 I can think of two solid rolling kneebars off the top of my head; a rolling kneebar from turtle position, or a rolling kneebar from waist grab. Both are unexpected from your original position. Anyone got any more?
Same here, I trained with him one time back in 2003 and still use knowledge I learned from him, to this day and have ever since. He's the realest of the real. Much like him, I moved around a lot and had bully problems at school and also watched Bruce Lee movies when I was young. So I started my lifelong martial arts journey in 1982 and am still training at 55.
I've trained with many world champions and well known fighters, like world champion kickboxers Jim Graden, Joe Lewis, Kathy Long, and Benny Urquidez, along with Royce Gracie, Darren Levine, Frank Shamrock, Rigan Machado, Travis Lutter, and others who are less known, but Bas was the most hard hitting, impactful, charismatic, funny, and thorough fighter/ trainer I've ever trained with.
My only regret is that it was only a one time thing, because he was just in town for a martial arts conference and Frank Shamrock's ShootBox event. People who get to train with him on a regular basis are blessed, powerful, and skilled. And on top of all of that, he's also a great person to party with...lol. Back in the day, he could drink everyone under-the-table the night before and show up at 6 a.m. ready to train hard. Truly a Living Legend. RESPECT!
I really thought I was done clicking martial arts videos, but I can't resist Bas.
This is so useful
You are never done
Back to the dojo NOWWW
@AwakenedRaveN🤠👌🏽
This is literal coaching and fighting gold.
Bas was so ahead of his time in his prime, and I think he still is.
A spoiled 12 year old girl can hurt him with just words
You finally got to the ultimate fighter. Thank you, sensei Jessie.
Bas Rutten is so awesome. Perfect balance of being an unbelievable badass, and also an incredibly nice guy
For those who have not punched a heavy bag before, the bag is very heavy. This dude has serious power when the bag swung like that .......
How heavy is the bag?
And during the first minutes when he showed his techniques to Jesse you could see that he was sometimes surprised by how quick and from where his attacks came
@SRADracer about 100-150 lbs.
He also hits the bag fairly high.. it's not hard to hit a heavy bag lower down and push the punch, causing it to swing, but from what I could see, he hits it high and with a solid snap, so no pushing.
Bas is terrifying.
@alanbrito7322 I've punched a heavy bag as hard as I could, and it barely moved. It is like punching a bag of cinder blocks.
This episode is so concentrated in techniques, it s insane
JESSE: "What is your secret."
BAS: "Dangity Dangity dang!"
I'm very sorry
NO I'M NOT!! 😂😂💪🤜
You… Never..
Do… This…
Again…
@jvdkamphahaha legendary 😂
SMASH HIS FACE WITH A CHAIR
@jvdkamp “I’m sorry sir, but I’m going to break your leg”
@scoobertmcruppert2915IYKYK
This man is so approachable and generous yet simultaneously terrifying.
14:00 lol
He's in his 60s and I think he would fight anyone. None of this is a act. He is exactly what he comes across as. Fearless and fierce at 60yr +. Lots of mma guys are a wreck long before 60yr..
Ooh damn, EL GUAPO?!??!
I love how is always cracking jokes about how pretty he is
Here for this comment. El Guapo!
A true fan! Old school BAS! 🤌🏼
speedrunning your lesson in the best way, total information
At 4mins and 4:49 Jesse realized that I just have to believe he won’t hit me by accident and the rest of the video bro is fearless lmaooo
Bang-a-dah dang a-dah BOOM theres your liver/leg
Hahaha love that! I watched his self defense videos in that bar a million times. 😂
Ratatatatat bang
13:07 you did a great job especially for being on camera. Following those stacking combinations from a new coach isn’t easy.
Yeah that was insane how quick he got it
25 minutes later and I have over 100 pages of notes and a hand cramp
Im immediately incorporating these into my training... secrets of a champion for FREE!? This is what makes the internet beautiful
Just the body twisting exercise alone.
Always mesmerizing to watch people talk about the thing they love to do and dedicated their life to
Ive been a serious student of God's word for coming up on 50 years, when you dedicate your time, energy, focus, and passion towards perfection, it's a psychosis, Tom Brady, total psycho, in psychology perfection is the highest form of self abuse but in any endeavor it's the constant repetitive practice that yields incredibly rewarding results, I used to study singing, it's a couple of hours daily followed by a couple hours of actually singing, to perfect a four minute song, I also realized throwing thousands of kicks per day for years the time from my initial thought to kick to the target being struck shortened drastically over time, brain to muscle, it's fascinating how amazing the human body is
0:48 Look at his arms! Dude is old but absolutely ripped. Almost enough to inspire me to put this beer down.
Almost!
I was thinking the same thing....then I remembered I had a beer in my hand.
@lewisdigby9497every sip is like a bicep curl
Nah...
Do that and get on juice haha
I LOVE how passionate Bas is. He is genuinely so excited to share his methods. His passion is contagious!
What a passionate guy. His energy is contagious.
Just love Jesse's enthusiasm to learn and gain knowledge from the master's.
The master's what?
Yeah perfect i do Bjj i like folding people i dont like to punch people cuz I have seen people die and hit head on ground getting brain damage
@true-enderso you saying Bas isn't a Master?
@jabulanichinkwitaphiri4370 apostrophe s means possession, so " the master's _______" no apostrophe means plural, so "the masters" means he's learning from multiple people that are a master.
man, that dude is so intense and inspiring at the same time
A lot of these techniques he already taught when I was training under him in the 90's in Eindhoven/Nuenen.
Bas Rutten is in great shape for a man coming up for 61 this February. Looking forward to Part 2.
Steroids work!
and all the injuries... His arm is looking surprisingly good now.
his right arm is fucked up
No hate, but it's called testo. He definitely trains hard to keep it up tho.
Steroids
Bas, you are my inspiration mate, I'm 48, and in my 20's I was a bouncer, we used to gather at mine on a sunday to watch "Bas Rutten's Lethal Street Fighting" before going out lol. I pride myself that I too was bullied as a kid, learnt martial arts, became a bouncer for 17 years to protect people who couldn't protect themselves. And 2 of those techniques I used for real on the door. Bas is no joke, except when he's doing the "lighter side of martial arts" check that out .. You're a Legend Bas
47.
Absolutely understand you.
48 this year.
Power and strength!.
I’ve been watching Bas for a long time now and it seems like he’s somehow getting even better at teaching and he’s been a world class teacher for at least 20 years now.
But what i understand: he teaches the coubter with the whole body in minute 4 but right before showing it slow he showed it without body rotation....
jesse asks good questions and makes the videos much more interesting
Bas is a living legend. Dude is a great guy and full of knowledge and potential death dealing.
He is a treasure of fighting techniques and knows how to use them under pressure!
18:08 'That little tiny shot I just gave'
Jesse fighting to stay standing/breathing/tears from his eyes hahah
Bas is a humble and true martial artist. Thanks for posting.
he's got a lot of practice and no woo
Just stumbled on this video and got hooked. The combination of his friendliness and menacing power is fascinating.
So Bas Rutten was basically using Ultra Instinct when he was fighting in Japan. That is crazy no wonder he was damn near unstoppable. Also he is such an awesome teacher you can feel his enthusiasm when he's teaching Jesse. I would love to train with him.
Bas is impressive but he is also full of cap 😂.
I trained with Bas about 25 years ago at a seminar where Benny the Jet and Gene LeBell were also there. Bas accidentally bloodied my nose. It was a great seminar!
So you had a great time is what you’re trying to say.
Did you get to get chocked out by Gene LeBell? That would’ve been the icing on the cake.
That sounds like an absolutely legendary seminar.
Must have hurt but what an honor 😂
that is called Martial science. This is what everybody to try to apply their style. the elbow down is a wudan/hsing I, Yi quan principle technique. based on efficiency and power, it can be performed with a hard or soft fist. These are principles rarely taught these days. Very good jesse best interview in a long time. Bas is what in the old days would be considered a true master. Technique, principles and power as well as the meditation aspect. simply awesome.
I was watching this and felt he would be at home in a Chen Taijiquan class (the fighting elements are washed out of a lot of Yang instruction, and I don't have experience with the others). Would love to see him and Zi Chuan comparing notes. Him doing his twisting torso exercises made my torso burn remembering the long pole shaking. 😂 Bas has definitely spent the time "eating bitter"
Such a clear understanding of body mechanics
Bas is 60 years old now, and just look at that muscle definition! I bet his joints hurt like hell when he wakes up in the morning, but he is still an inspiration to anyone over 40.
A blessing to see him still so sharp in mind and body. ❤
He's 60, not 89 so why wouldn't he be?
@WishfulDrinking1he’s a former professional fighter that’s why
@WishfulDrinking1years of getting hit in the head and stuff. Seems like he did more damage than he received tho lol
@paulyperreira2795 Fair point, I was being an offended 60 year old.....
These are the best instructors. He’s excited to give it all away all at once. He’s not cryptic. He’s practical, well thought out, and battle tested.
Es un gran video!!! Muy buena entrevista! 👏👏👏
Bas looking more ripped & healthy/fight ready than we've seen him in a minute.
Testosterone injections do that to a man 😂
Trt
And his biceps are finally symmetrical again, wow that was a looooong journey for him.
Yeah that's trt
Too many valuable insights. I need to save this video and watch a day before every sparring session.
I'm doing the same thing. It's so hard to remember all of it plus, he's fast talking.
Bas vibes me like the type of dude to call whatever hes into an art cause he has that level of understanding in it. I think hes crossed that level of fighter into like samurai, dudes all philosophical and shit
He is freaking fast, and even while he’s explaining it, his adrenaline is still pumping, impressive.
Great shape for a 60 year old 💪💪💪💪absolute Inspiration
Especially when you consider his struggles either muscle atrophy! Best shape Bas has been in in years
Well not to diminish his dedication - but such shape is only possible with at least trt
Great? it's an insane shape
DUTCH accent 🤔
I'm 55, even at my best 25 years ago when training i wasn't really his shape. And he suffered severe muscle atrophy, lol
His passion and love for the game is inspiring
The sheer amount of knowledge conveyed in 25 minutes is mindblowing.
This guy is still fast AF at that age, even in a demonstration
Bas i LEGEND...Man he's over 60 and still a BEAST! Greatest inspiration i ever had.
His energy is infectious, and he delivers so much information in such a simple and concise way. You can tell he has really spent his whole life on this, and he has worked on communicating it effectively.
Man, he is still shredded. All time legend.
Juice
@ohchocobo3642 Still shredded. Most people couldn't achieve it if the juice replaced 80% of the workout.
Thought Bas was Kurt Angle for a sec in the thumbnail
Interesting to see how his mind works. He boiled down his whole fighting strategy to a flowchart with irrefutable logic and an answer to everything. Legend!
Using every negative experience as a catalyst to improve so he never has to go through that experience again.
He puts in a ridiculous amount of effort to deal with REAL scenario's. Absolute legend indeed. It's a very dutch mentality, very inspirational too
I really wish I could train under Bas.
3:44 not just load up, he's keeping the arm with the body and not using arm strength but his body to counter the blow. So it's not a push or slap with arm strength to push the blow away but body strength behind the arm. Pretty solid.
Damn he is still so fast and focused! Such passion is rare in a Human ❤
60 years old and rip and moves like 20 years old great example amzing human being and now great coach !
badass dude but at the same time chill to the core
Bas gives me goosebump just through is communication style.
this gets my brain working as a table tennis player ... and I dont pivot my right foot either in the forehand
