Nisha, thank you very much for sharing your story. Depression is so hard to understand unless you have experienced it. your comments are so true. We all love your honesty and bravery. I suffer from depression like so many others and understand some people just do not feel comfortable sharing. The more who do share, the more understanding there will be. xoxo

I had depression for years before I got help and it was horrible. You are right about people saying, what have you got to be depressed about, there are so many people that have bad things going on in their lives but the thing is, because someone else is feeling pain doesn't make our pain any less. It is something you can't help and you can't control and just make it go away. I so understand everything you are saying and you're so brave to let people know that anyone can have depression but there is help out there.

I have had depression and anxiety my entire life. I was diagnosed when I was 10 years old, but did not start taking medication until I was in my late 20s. I am 46 now and have tried many times to stop relying on the medication, but not possible. I also had post-partum depression when I had my one and only daughter, but thankfully, I did not disconnect from my child. My daughter's * father * abandoned us after she was a couple of months old. He moved to another state and has been completely absent in every way, no child support, etc. Now she is 9 years old. So in addition to having depression and anxiety, dealing with being a single mom working full-time, with struggling in so many ways. I have endured countless hardships as well. Thank you for sharing your story. * Love + Blessings to You *

I'm not sure you'll ever see this since it's such an old video of yours but I happened on it tonight after watching your latest video and I'm gobsmacked! So much of what you've said here resonated with me. The depression, the shopping for that temporary high, the feelings of isolation when you're feeling so low. It seems to me I've been fighting depression much of my life. I think the first time I felt it was when I was six and my beloved uncle died. I'm going through a huge metamorphosis these days and I truly believe "accidentally" finding this tonight is an important part of my journey. Thanks!

You are both brave and inspiring to share your story. And by doing so you are helping others who deal with this debilitating condition. No one can understand the pain of living with this day-to-day unless they have experienced it. It can, and does, change your entire personality and you can go from being happy and social to that of a hermit. The best thing we can do is reach out to those who love us so we have a good support system in place. Those we trust to and those who can can help us see the blind spots in our behavior we may have missed. There is a lot of trial and error in the medication route so it's critical to find a good doctor who will work with you. You are not on an easy path. Bless you for sharing and reaching out to others. ❤️ thank you Nisha. I, too, battle this and every day I learn new ways to beat it.

Good lord! For the past 10 years I have been depressed off and on and didn't even know it. Your discussions have totally lifted my heart. How can I ever thank you? I wanted to see what other women were doing on here as "how to" for women who are getting older. I have a heavy background in beauty, health, and anthropology so I think I may have some things (not competing with you but enhancing and crediting you) on RUclips. And, I never expected to come across this. what I'm most shocked with is finding out that anti-depressants masks symptoms, they don't cure them. Wow!
You are the only woman I have been watching on here and believe me when I say that's a real compliment. I rarely find new products or learn new things & here I am, learning from someone ultra special.
Thank you so very much for all you do for women. I hope I can be half as informative as you. I know you have touched more lives than you think. I didn't know how to even leave a message until I pressed on everything and lost you several times. I'm very glad our paths have crossed and I believe they will again.
Thanks for all you have given the world. Keep up the good work!

I just saw the title of your video. I will be watching tonight but wanted to get this off to you right away. You are so encouraging just to see that someone who has depression is brave enough to share about it. I too have depression and have since I was in Kindergarten I believe. It has impacted my life in horrible ways. But the GOOD news is that with the right treatment there is hope for all of us to feel better and be productive and feeling good. I will share my story with you another time. But for now, just be really kind to yourself and remember it is your brain that is not firing properly and it can be made to be healthy again.
You are NOT alone. Give yourself what YOU need.

I, too, want to thank you, Nisha, for sharing your experience. I know now that I've experienced several depressive episodes in my life, but this last one, after I lost my parents, hit me hardest and literally shut me down. I've just come off almost 3 years of being on disability as the depression got so bad that I couldn't work, leave my house for days at a time, or deal with people. I'm now back at work, and on antidepressants, but cognitive behavioral therapy was what really worked for me.

Hi Nisha I have depression too I have done for years. I'm also on medication. I really do think it is an invisible illness. I have so many people say to me, "you don't look depressed"
But Nisha, how are we supposed to look.
Listening to your story of how yours start after having your baby boy. I can totally relate to this as the same thing happened to me and yes you do feel incredibly guilty. The smoking story, my god, this sounds like me. I'm in a terrible vicious circle. My daughter is now 27 and I'm still depressed and still on medication.
I've also become addicted to internet shopping because I don't want to go out.
There is no reason or rhyme to my depression, I can't stop it, I have to just roll with it.
I really don't know how I found you on RUclips but my god I'm so thankful that I did.
Your makeup tutorials I love. They pick me up. I stopped wearing makeup 10 years ago because of my depression, I just couldn't be bothered to put it on.
One day I might start wearing it again but I'm nearly 50 in October!
So for now I am buying makeup and storing it. Xx

I have suffered from depression for 20 years. I do take meds but at times that doesn’t work. I have been working for a psychiatrist all my career. I didn’t recognize it even being in the field. I have had several med changes over the years. No one ever knew except my boss. I finally explained to my family and to this day it’s why are you depressed. What’s to be depressed about.

I have backtracked to this first set from the recent video you posted a few days ago. I had NO idea you suffered as well. I greatly enjoy your videos and you are the only RUclips page I've mentioned to my husband, and in fact it was just this last night! I cried watching this video because you spoke for me. I have never smoked but I'd always bounce around new hobbies that were always short term and unfinished. The shopping is going on currently, by bouncing from miniatures to now beauty products. I've steadily gained weight over this last year and now 40-50 pounds over weight. I have no clothes that fit any longer and I'm borrowing my husband large tshirts that he doesn't wear as he they are too large for him. I feel horrible. Thank you for this video. I did share this to my husbands Facebook messenger do he can see it. I'm hoping he'll get a better understanding of what is going on with me.

Thank you Nisha -you are a beacon in the lives of many woman! ! Stigmas should not exist but sadly they do amongst those that do not understand causing others to feel they are perceived as weak and "less than". Terrible, because those that suffer from depression do not have a control over it in that , it is not something that can be willed away any more than kidney disease or heart disease. Thank you for your openess, caring and sharing. You are a beautiful, fun, intelligent individual whom I very much enjoy watching on RUclips! ! take care!

Sometimes the only good that comes from suffering Depression is developing more empathy and a keener desire to help others who are also suffering. I've only recently found your videos and enjoy them! I face the same issues. I see you said that you're coming off your antidepressants and I'd like to encourage you to not do that. People tend to feel better and they no longer need the meds. Unfortunately that means you need to be on them. I've been on the same cycle for years and eventually learned that I MUST stay on them. I've been faithful in the regime for years and there's nothing magic that makes it better overnight. Perhaps you need to find a doc that SPECIALIZES in this sort of situation. Perhaps I read what you said incorrectly but it's worst to go on and off the medications! Exercise and many things can help but you have to get a baseline to support the med therapy but unfortunately it's not short term..long process but worth it. After a long time I found out I'm bipolar..nuts as my family puts it..people don't understand how hurtful those comments are. It's horrible dealing with these issues and you have a lot of support in the RUclips community. Please please don't give up on the meds just yet!

I was reading some of the comments and I totally agree to stay on them, you feel better because it's working and it's working because you using them. Seems odd that a psychiatrist would have you go off and on them, that of itself can make you feel worse.. My thoughts and prayers for you.

It is a tough affliction, but thank you Nisha for sharing with those of us who understand because we also have depression. (I am sure there are those that don’t have depression, but are involved in one way or another.)

Hi Nisha!!! Love your channel..you are beautiful inside and out!!!! I too have lived with anxiety and depression and went off of antidepressants in 2013 after being on them for a while. I am going to start them again and am kind of freaking out about the weight gain and the libido issue. I am also on hrt and a huge fan of Meno barbie!! Just had a one on one consult with her yesterday!! But this constant worrying and obsessing is getting too much for me to handle. And not sleeping well on top of that. I have a very supportive man in my life he just wants me to feel good!! But i worry about the bedroom issue some...Oh that worrying is awful. This last year has been crazy with life issues and alot of stress!!! I think that has what brought me back to this. Are you still on your antidepressants? How do you deal with the weight gain issue? I eat well and my weight is the best it has been in a long time.
Thank you for being so honest about your journey.
    Sincerely Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, isn't getting older and dealing with depression at the same time a real pain. I am still on antidepressants and don't ever plan on coming off of them. I never put weight on due to them or my HRT. When it comes to low libido, I am on testosterone gel which helps. I don't know if you watch my channel regularly because I talked a lot about those issues. The video you are commenting on is very old. If you are subscribed to my channel, please make sure you click on the bell next to the subscription button, so you get notified every time I upload a new video. I am going to make another video on depression very soon. Take care xoxoNisha

Nisha, I see the pain in your face...and I feel it too. My first depression also occurred 2-4 months after the birth of my first child at 23. I'm 58 years old now and have never been able to come off antidepressants though some of them helped me become well for pretty long periods. I worked in the medical profession all my life but 4 yrs ago I lost my career and have had to go on permanent disability. Obviously our lives changed drastically for the worse. Now I have what they call treatment resistant major depression and have tried ECT for two years, a total of 37 times.Lately I've been pretty good (on 3 meds) but the past 2-3 days I'm depressed and can hardly can get out of bed. I guess I just needed to listen to someone who goes thru the same thing. It hurts so much. I hope you are much better.

Thank you so much for showing your true self and your story who I know doubt know many many others out there suffering with this despicable ailment. I too experienced post natal depression when I had my daughter but I also got a pro lapsed disc in my back which was double harder. Not only had I the postnatal depression now I had this back thing to deal with, and I couldn't look after my baby. Yes unfortunately there is a stigma around depression, however no one can really judge those you go through it unless they have walked those shoes themselves. I look forward to watching the second part of your video. Oh by the way I have just stumbled over your channel because I wanted to see how you covered eye bags lol. What nationality are you. :-)

Dear Nisha you are very brave and open I like that. I'm the same. I didn't struggle with depression but when taking the pil I had many blue days. I stopped taking it. I went on a diet and lost 15 kg. I'm very proud. And I'm so happy I discovered your videos 'cause I also have hooded eyes. Thank you 😘😘😘

Nisha, I understand so well about depression. During an abusive marriage where all my teeth were knocked out, he then sexually abused my daughter who was 7 at the time. I would take a lot but when I found this out I called the police. I was at the point by that time that I felt worthless. You could say I was a shell because everything inside me had been beaten out. The end of that situation was in 1994 but to this day I still have days where I feel worthless and blame myself for the evil that touched my child. Every time I look in the mirror I know I have false teeth and remember the pain. I am on and off of meds all the time and at this time I am trying to stop smoking for what seems like the millionth time. Weight, OMG I am at the highest I have been ever at 190 when I was always 120. Right now I hate myself but try and keep fighting on. Always remember you are not alone, that keeps me going. We must stand strong and share what we deal with to help others. Love to you my friend xoxoxo

You are a warrior woman from America!!! I have a large family they thought seeking help was weak, most of them aren't with me anymore. I sought counseling and medication. I am leading a much better life. You are helping many, many, thousands of people. Look how Prince Harry, Duchess Catharine, Prince William and now Meghan are tackling this horrible disease. I have been on meds. for many years now. Are you going thru menopause? My mother used to talk of horrible headaches going thru "the change".

I have gone back tsee some of your videos I have never seen before and you hit the nail right on the head with symptoms and that its nobodys fault it's not something to snap out of people are worse off than you...comment being bad for depressed people. Well done! I am off to watch part two.

Thank you sooooooo much for sharing about your depression,it IS a hard topic to discuss and I was amazed at the similarities of your depression and mine. As a nurse you think I would know better than to stop taking my medication but that was not the case! It is so very common for people to stop taking their depression meds once they start feeling better and its the worst thing you can do b/c there's a reason you feel better and its the medication!! I KNOW this isn't the case for everyone of course but for people like us who suffer with chronic depression staying with what works is vital! I am also very disappointed in family doctors in regards to treating depression but I think they just aren't as educated in that area therefore don't understand it or quite how to treat it long term. Another thing they don't understand is how hard it is to even get out of bed some days let alone go see a psychiatrist on as regular basis that as you mentioned are not always available. I could go on for days about this lol!! I just wanted you to know it DOES get better and that your videos have helped me find my passion and love of all things make-up! It is so nice having a passion and interest in life and wanting to feel beautiful again! Thank you for sharing your life and love of all things beautiful:)
    Sincerely,
    A kindred spirit,
    Jennifer

Silvia, I truly believe in a higher power, and that God is watching over me, but all the prayer in the world didn't help me when I was suffering the worst dealing with depression, agoraphobia, and anxiety attacks on top of menopause. Chemically I was really off so meds helped, but getting the right help through therapy was what I needed. At many points, I honestly felt that God had abandoned me as a loving God would not make my life this painful and sad.

Oh. My. Gosh. My anxiety/depression began right after my baby girl was born in 1988. I hear you saying the same thing that happened to me. I came home from a hair appointment and my friend had stopped by with her mother to see our new baby. I walked in and they were holding my daughter. I was so rude to them. I walked over and took my daughter away. I made it so uncomfortable for them, that they just left. I have been on Citalopram for years and I never want to go off of it. When I asked my doctor if I could, she said "why?" Why would you want to.

Hi Nisha, thank you so much for this video, very helpful. Funny though, I too first got my depression after the birth of my first son who's now 14. Obviously the docs at the time said it was post natal, but every since then, whenever I go through a stressful event in my life, I get the same symptons and I now when it's coming on. Very similiar to yours, do you feel exhausted too? I hate it, and want to stay in bed for ever. Horrible illness, but it's so good to hear others who suffer the same x

I really and truly hope you're doing better these days. I see this is an older video. But I have heard it said that those who bring so much happiness to others cannot keep it from themselves. That's not to belittle depressing. In understand it all to well. It's just to say it saddens me to know that someone who makes others happy is not happy herself. I'm praying you fell joy in your life now.

Hi Nisha. I suffer from MS and depression is one of the symptoms. I have been on many anti depressants. I hate to say it but paleo eating has helped me immensely! Anti inflammatory foods work! I have been eating this way for over a year and I will never go back to processed foods. Our ancestors were a lot healthier....because they had clean food.
I love watching you!! PS I was on antidepressants for almost 20 years and now nothing!! xo
