So beautiful! I can tell you really love it all, because I can barely guess the time and effort that it must take to maintain and deal with any issues. A few years ago we got a regular fish tank with fish for our boys and even that was so much work! I never realized how much work even a simple tank takes to maintain.
The euphyllias died because your tank was too early in its microbiome development. I think there is a point in the tank's microbiome development cycle where there is an abundance of bacteria that is harmful to euphyllia, and/or a lack of beneficial bacteria to out-compete the harmful bacteria. We don't know enough about reef microbiomes to understand what exactly is happening here, but the advice to wait 3-6 months before adding LPS and SPS isn't without merit.
always impresses me to see simple setups thriving... heater and dosing and lights and that's it. just maintain water quality and clarity through water changes and a decent clean up crew. no need for massively complex sump setups. Admittedly it helps with a low bio load, but I love a focus on corals. I'm so tempted to replicate this.
This is the nicest and simplest no sump no skimmer shallow reef tank I see on RUclips. Awesome job! I will have mine set up exactly like what you have. LoL

well, this is stunning! congratz, Danny. Living by the sea helps indeed for the water change. I'm just wondering..since u had a lot of algae issues and bacterial infections to your corals, isn't cause maybe the bacteria are coming from the seawater?

Correct, I have no mechanical filtration. The rocks and sand are full of beneficial bacteria. I do a 10% water change weekly or sometimes every other week.
Danny these are some treuly wonderful videos and they are really relaxing. i do wonder though why gleu the coral though isnt that something i naturely could do?
I am not an expert but here is what I think. Coral do attach on their own, but only at the very beginning of their lives. After they settle down, that is it. They stay where they are. That is why they are growing on a small base. Glueing the base allows for exact and artistic placement. They the coral can grow and spread. .
Hey Danny, Think I read somewhere that you use natural seawater in your tanks. Do you treat it with something before you use it? I'm living close to the sea and am thinking of setting up a reef tank and that would make things a bit easier if I could use water from the sea..
I got a single head green tip torch, it’s fully opened up but the tentacles are only like 2cm long, really want them to look like any of yours, do you think they will get longer as it gets more heads. Only had it for a month so far
No, plain superglue, like gorilla glue, is completely safe in aquariums, even on corals. It actually instantly hardens when it comes in contact with water. Very commonly used in aquascapes.
Hey, do you use any sort of chiller to keep your waters cool? I noticed there's a heater, so I was just wondering if your room temperature is cool enough to keep the corals in good shape.
Hey, I've been looking into it as well. Most reef youtubers dont because they dont have to. I live in Malaysia as humid and as hot we have it here, chillers are the only way to go unless you have a 24hour cool room.
A beginner aquarist benefitting from live water. Pay attention all of you prospective reef keepers to the advantage of live bio cultures. The era of dead rock reef tanks is much harder and you will not have such an easy time reaching success.
But again no fitration what do you expect to happen to the tank. Its going to become a septic environment. It was legitimately your fault for the demise of it
