This video shows how to stabilize Multicam clips, in Final Cut Pro. This is one of the most common complaints I see from FCP users, so this video sets out to make your lives a little bit easier!

For every like this video gets, a Multicam get's its wings.
Sometimes either of the 3 stabilization options is good enough and the image wobbles. But great tip for multicam.
I will request it until the end of time: we need a Multicam flatten/break apart in FCP. It has the best multicam out of any NLE but the fact that you cannot pick it some clips and flatten them to make processing/reframing and stab easy is an oversight. Re-editing vertical videos with combining angles would also be SO much easier this way. Amazing video as always Dylan! 👌
YES, I wish they brought back flatten. It is so useful.
I know this isn’t by default, but Automatic Duck just released a tool that flattens multicams!

@ Wow! Will check it out - this might just be a life changer! Thanks Dylan! Here’s hoping that FCP will add this feature built-in!
@@TheFinalCutBro Wait, what? That's sort of awesome. I get that Automatic Duck needs to charge for it. I just wish it was built in to FCPX. Oh well, I guess this is better than paying a subscription fee.
@@TheFinalCutBro WOOW! must have! 💣 thanks Dylan
Thanks Dylan! This is helpful! 🙏
new digs lookin good 👍
Another fantastic pointer from the Final Cut Bro
Love this! Great job on the video!
Excellent tip.. I presume this is the same for compound clips.
Yes exactly!
I use the same technique if I need to do any other effect on a Multicam. Typically it's audio for my, but sometimes if I need to do something for just that portion of the video. It really helps sequester everything as far as how much work the CPU needs to do.
Thanks for this awesome tip 🎉
Hi Dylan, can you please create a video on how you edit your audio. Its awesome :)
🤩🤩Как раз вчера столкнулся с этой проблемой!!!!! Где ты был 2 дня назад?😂😂😂🤭
Great Tip! Thanks
great tip
Good to know.
It's good, but if you have many effects, like color correction, for example, and need to edit it after these cuts for stabilization, you will have a problem. I usually use compound clips in camera angles and apply all effects to the compound in multicam. So, to stabilize shots, you can do it inside the compound clip, after that these cuts will not affect you in the future.
Nice tip
Great tips 🤝
Got a similar problem with Accentize DeRoom recently which I apply in the audio track in multicam, then got several sound problems in the project.
Any tips ? 🙏🏼
I was actually running into an issue the other day :
If I used stabilization AND the magnetic mask, the magnetic mask follows the original clip, not the stabilization. So there would be chunks where the edges don’t actually track correctly.
I’m trying to remember how I did a work around, I think I did the tracking, then compounded the clip, then did the magnetic mask on that compound clip.
Or it could have been the opposite. I’ll have to double check that
do you FCPX will get a super scaled denoiseer option like deviche resolve has
Hey thanks for the video
Good timing! It’s my main problem atm.
My problem is that I used parts of the multicam clip as b roll and moved them to other places in the timeline. When I open the clip the playhead is not at the same part of the clip.
Is there a workaround? (Other than manually going through all of it to find the chopped up part I’m looking for?)
Interesting because whenever I stabilize a clip in FCP it gets blown up (zoomed in) a little bit to make sure that the twisting and turning of the stabilizing does not show black edges on the corners of the frame.
Yes that's what it does! This clip didn't have enough motion for the zoom to be noticeable. But it did scale it up a little bit!
Also can't stabilize clips with speed ramps. Is there a way around this?
stabilize, then compound clip, then add speed ramp to the compound clip. I think?
I was hoping you made a plugin or something magical that can apply to a multicam clip or maybe to a compund clip :( Hopefully Apple will make a proper solution for this because the original metod is really time consuming... 🤣
