Saw a video about a Southwest Airlines pilot. As a young boy he saw his father a pilot leave for Vietnam. His father was killed on a crash. Years later his remains were found and identified. The young boy now a Captain with Southwest Airlines flew his father back home in the cargo hold of his plane.to the same airfield he last saw his father. It was fitting that he had the honor of bringing back his father's remains so the family now has closure.
I am a veteran (US) and I am deeply moved and greatly appreciate the reaction you have offered. I am also very aware that people in many countries fight and die for the same values that Americans love and die for. This is especially true in the UK. I would also like to offer that the quote you mentioned in the end about the tree of liberty is from Thomas Jefferson, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed at times by the blood of patriots and tyrants". I say this in complete respect for the alliance in thought, word, and deed that exists today between our countries. Take care, and God Bless You.
Thank you for sharing!!! I was on a commercial flight that was taking a fallen soldier home! It is customary for all passengers to remain on the aircraft until the deceased is taken off the flight and I got to witness the ceremonial process. There was a small choir on this flight and they started singing God Bless America and all the passengers sang along! It was a very humbling and yet moment of pride at the same time! I gotta find some tissues now! Love from Texas🤠🤠🤠
Several years ago, my brother was brought home on a commercial flight. I couldn’t be there, but was told how he was honored by all remaining on the plane and how respectful it all was done. I’m so grateful you mentioned that this is done. Thank you so much!

I'm American. The song may have been made for and sing for our Soldiers. But this song really is for all the brave man and women who comes home on an Angle Flight. Or whatever this flight is called elsewhere. I believe the song writer and singer would find it an honor to have his song sing for our friends in the Military across the pond being brought home this way as well. I'm from a family of Military from even before I was born and now as well . From past relatives to my grandfather, father and both my brothers having also who serived as well as other family members. Much respect to each and everyone of you. Your All Heroes. Even if you don't think so. The rest of us believe you all are. Thank you again for your service. Much respect to all. Sorry for the long comment.
It is coincidental and ironically poetic that the defensive flare salvo from a C-130 can resemble an angle's wings. The C-130 Hercules aircraft is featured in this video because it is most often the first aircraft that fallen soldiers fly on from the battlefield back to a US base (tactical airlift). It is a sobering honor to be involved with this mission. Thank you for your sincere reaction.
As am I! I'm trying to hold it together during these videos haha. God Bless you and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifices for people who's names they would never even know!

A great video and a great reaction. I'm still so humbled that a Brit reacts to videos like this. I served in the US Air Force for 30 years. In my first assignment I volunteered to serve as a funeral detail officer rendering military honors to eligible veterans throughout the state where I was assigned. I don't recall how many trips I made on a bus with a contingent of 20 or so Airmen throughout the state. What I do recall was the superb actions of our detail at every funeral, and the gratitude of those in attendance. I was the Officer-in-Charge, so was the one charged with presenting the folded flag to the next of kin. I know of only one experience in my lifetime that was more meaningful (and there's no point in enumerating that now) than those instances. The United States of America is not perfect, but endeavors to be "a more perfect Union," and neither is our military perfect, but it is instilled in the traditions and DNA of our military culture to strive to be honorable, but one thing we excel at is showing honor and respect to those who precede us into eternity,
OMG. This is so amazing. I can't hear it without crying so much. I'm so grateful these pilots are brave enough to do this. It has to be so hard. God bless them all.
I have done three flights from overseas back to the states. A young AF sergeant from Germany. Four sets of recovered remains from Vietnam. And, a family of five killed in a car wreck from Japan. It never got easier.

Such a beautiful song…very emotional for me. Besides the obvious, it was the song playing on the radio just as I got the news that my sister had unexpectedly passed away. She had nothing to do with the military, other than supporting them, but I felt as if she was on an Angel Flight of her own❤❤❤
