    I own a ‘23 Trident 660 and a ‘15 Daytona 675. When I heard that Triumph had been testing another sportbike platform I was very excited. While I think this new Daytona looks great, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed in the less powerful engine. While this looks like a great bike on its own I don’t think it compares to the previous Daytona models, and I’m not too sure it deserves the Daytona name.

      interesting persepectives. I'm on a ninja400 and I'm quite disappointed in the lack of options to bridge the gap between the endless sea of naked bike hype and unforgiving ergos and streetability of proper supersports. Bikes like the FZ1 are great for crusing, have so much power but are heavy, a bit too upright, and lack the handling I want for doing some canyons. The other FZs (6, 8, 9) all have their compromises too (i'd get the FZ8 Fazer if it was actually sold in the USA instead of just the naked version). The rest in the category are too naked and get very old and annoying on the highway.
      I think this bike has the potential to be great and I'm looking at this along with the street triple

    It would be nice to have either a analog speedo or a tft , the led screen will kill most peoples thrill of having it , it looks well integrated in the trident but the daytona looks like it was made in a rush it looks outdated but not in a good way

    As a 675 owner this is not what I wanted for a Daytona branded bike. I'm sure it will be fun to ride and I look forward to trying it when my dealer gets one but I'm disappointed at this point. Thanks for taking the time to make the video on it and stay safe.

      675R owner here. Disappointed too but I think we need to remember these bikes aren't for us and only the moniker is the same. Built to a much lower budget with budget parts, lower power, diluted dynamics and A2 friendly. These are beginner bikes not supersports. We just need to hope they make a proper sports bike off the back of this.

    • @MotorcycleDemoRiders
      @MotorcycleDemoRiders 6 месяцев назад +8

      @@kw4n1987 I can appreciate that idea and to can understand the logic behind it. I absolutely loved the trident and tiger sport 660 and its absolutely a solid idea to build a middlewieght sport bike off that platform. I guess I have been hoping for a full line of Daytona bikes using the 660, 765, 900 and the 1160cc triples. Just a dream lol.

    • @TangMan14
      @TangMan14 6 месяцев назад +6

      Agreed. The Daytona name shouldnt be on a budget friendly intermediate/beginner bike. They should have taken the 765 street triple as a platform, faired it, clip ons, tune and adjust/change brakes and suspension to a premium grade. The Daytona is supposed to be a middle weight supersport race bike for the road.

    • @ApexRadius
      @ApexRadius 6 месяцев назад

      Yup, I was hoping that they wouldn't call it a Daytona, too. (I also own a D675.) But I also understand why they did it. One could reason that Triumph is perfectly set up to do just what you've suggested but, I also think it's a pipe dream. Let's face it, they didn't sell enough Daytona 675s after about 2011 along with the rest of the manufacturers making supersport bikes. I shake my head when I see hundreds of comments screaming for a Daytona 765. Only a handful of those people will actually buy one.

      That dash is in some ways more functional than the fancy one on my Street Triple RS with the stupid tachometer (although I think that is getting addressed for the new model year). The one on the Trident/Tiger Sport 660/D660 is an LCD/TFT hybrid but it works well. Agree on the quick shifter and I wish the suspension was more adjustable. But Triumph sets up even the non-adjustable stuff well as long as you're not really heavy or really light. Should be a fun bike.

    It's good to see a Daytona back in the Triumph range. I'm pleasantly surprised because it's felt like the market has moved more towards retro/classic and adventure bikes. I hope it does well.
    I like sports bikes but have tended to buy models with sports/tourer specs than super sports because I find them more practical for regular use and also good for a long journey or holiday yet with enough sportiness for fun. The earlier Hinckley Daytonas, 900, 955 etc. prior to the 675, were less sports inclined than the R1s, GSXRs and ZZRs of the same period.

    Okay, I know a few others have already mentioned this but I'll add to the chorus. For those who are pining for true supersport-spec Daytona 765, there already is one. It's called the Street Triple 765 RS (and the limited edition Moto2). It's also raced in MotoAmerica, BSB, and WSB. I know some people haven't been around as long as some of us but the Street Triple originally was just a stripped down, re-tuned Daytona 675. When Triumph cancelled the D675, they essentially put all the high-spec development into the Street Triple, particularly the RS variant. I have a first gen D675 and a '22 STRS and the main frame is nearly identical. And essentially, they are very similar bikes. Of course, the RS is more modern and has more advanced components but they are clearly of the exact same lineage.
    The reason there is no longer a supersport Daytona is because ALMOST NO ONE WAS BUYING THEM. Same with almost every other supersport bike. If you want Triumph to build one, there has to be a market for one. Unfortunately, only a small fraction of those asking for one will actually buy one.

    Think: Aprilia RS660 for 3K less! Personally, if the riding position isn't too difficult, I certainly would've added this to the very short list of potential bikes. On paper, the ONLY variance is weight, w/ the RS660 being 43Lbs. lighter! At $8,600, it's a great value. Oh, it's pretty sexy looking to boot. Maybe 'silk white' and consider it a fresh canvas for some bright, splashy primary colors. I think they're going to sell quite well, heck- I can't think of anyone who wouldn't love riding it.

    Looks good ❤ will be a direct rival for the cbr650r.
    But in my opinion it would have gained much more attention if they made it like a mini speed triple rr instead of going for a fully faired daytona.

    While this bike dosent seem all that mind blowing for countries without license restrictions like USA countries Like Australia benefit from smaller displacement by like this which can be used on P plates. I think this is a great addition for newer riders

    This bike is going to be a real hit in the sector. Triumph have done an incredible job. As for the ´Daytona´ tag goes, if it had the 81hp powerplant the answer would be NO, this 95hp engine sneaks in there with a great torque curve. I think it´s worthy of it.

    Rode 2007 Triumph Daytona 675. There were far better bikes from Japanese Big 4...but what it set apart from them, and what made it better was the SOUND! Metal griding, high pitched, thumping and roaring sound. Gone is this once-an-awesome sound of triple from Triumph...

    Riding well be the proof, but this may be a brilliant move for Triumph! The last 675 Daytona was a wonderful expensive bike that didn't sell well. However, a 10k sport bike may sell in the numbers they need. In the past, Triumph has gotten a lot out of modest components with careful tuning and development. If that's the case here, it may be what the market needs. The first Daytona was a 500cc twin that was overshadowed by the 650 twin - but the 500 won the race the bike was named after
