Inflatable Sander Replacement

  • In this video I show you how to make a simple inflatable sander replacement. Inflatable sanders are really expensive, and the replacement sleeves are outrageously expensive. The expense would be justified if inflatable sanders were reliable, but they are notorious for leaking air. If you want to sand concave surfaces there aren't any commercially available alternatives. So I decided to make one from some scrap wood, a 1/4" bolt, and some adhesive velcro. DIY13
    The total cost is probably less than $1, but $1 is a nice and round number. I hope you find this project useful and hope it saves you some money and frustration from overpriced inflatable sanders.

    Thank you so much! I made one just ad you described! Works great!
    Note: for making spoons i grind out and sand the spoon inner part first. Makes it easier to clamp when it is still a brick shaped piece of wood.

      Thank you. May be you can make on for your brace, may be an egg beater drill.

      @Lemongrasspicker 7 лет назад +1

      The eggbeater drill would be a great way to use this. I could easily see this as working as a way to round off corners on large boring jobs with a brace.

    Thanks for the tip, will try it. Also, do you have a video or design for the spoon clamping jig you use at 1:50 in your video?

      I just made it up, it's just a 3rd class lever with hinge, a place to rest on my specific vise and a rest for the spoon shape.

      Thanks OW. To answer PG, I don't want to profit from this; I just want to help people save money; so they can spend it on more important things, gigli, gigli.
