CosmicUndeadElf It is the second worst of the series and the worst of the Original Trilogy but I think the music is also why I have a softspot for X3. I think some of the movie is heavily flawed. Brett Ratner's direction can get a little muddled as he tries to introduce too many characters and doing it in a short space of a run time, that is 104 minutes which for me is too short, I think if it was 30 minutes longer then the movie could be better and if Bryan Singer stayed to direct it it would have been awesome
***** Yeah, my biggest problems with the movie were the decision to kill off too many key characters, the fact that they didn't try to recreate the Phoenix effect from the comics at all, that they didn't use more well known mutants for Magneto's brotherhood, and Storm's hair.
I think Storm's hair is fine its a nice change, in terms of her character she does much more in X-Men 3 than 1 and 2 which is a big plus to Brett Ratner and the writers :) Yes too many people die. And the plots kind of clashed; tthey tried to tell too many stories, they had the cure plot which branched off into different threads and then the Phoenix saga where they introduced the love story for Jean and Logan. I can enjoy X3 as a fun action film with some emotional scenes such as Xavier's death and funeral and Jean Grey's death at the end where Logan kills her. That is very powerful because he does have to kill the woman he loves. I do think that the movie is underrated :)
Thanks I think people are blowing it out of proportion because it was Brett Ratner who directed it. Its not a great film, but its average in my opinion :) Things work and things don't
***** well the things that worked for my were 1: the soundtrack 2: Ellen Page as Shadowcat 3: the Phoenix story line (although they may have taken a little too far)
Yes Agreed the concept of the Phoenix was excellent, I am in love with the music of X3 :) The stand-out scenes for me were the house fight, final battle, Opening flashback, forest fight, Phoenix finale/Jean's Death at the end. Certain scenes were done well but the problems of the movie have to be put down to Brett Ratner unfortunately.
You're so right! Even my mom, who knows little to nothing about the X-men universe outside of the movies, was disappointed that they killed so many characters. Knowing that Bryan Singer is in charge of Days of Future Past is so reassuring. He did a great job with First Class, and I hope Days of Future Past will be just as good.
***** Personally think it was too short with it only being 1 hour 40 minutes, as it is the end to the trilogy, to make a hugely successful film it should be at least 2 hours, if not a bit more. The film just seemed a bit rushed with unnecessary deaths (Xavier and Cyclops) and the misuse of major characters (Rogue moaning throughout the film instead of fighting or helping and Mystique being thrown out 35 minutes in). To me X2 is the best in the trilogy, but each to their own.
It was better than X-Men Origins:Wolverine :) it wasn't the best for me that goes to Days of Future Past, but Last Stand has its good moments, its fun, but I think the score is amazing
Fair enough I think yes X2 has the best theme, bur overall score goes to X-Men III:The Last Stand. Days of Future Past used the time travel plot well :)
Yes I am thankful for that. My sister complained about the cure's development. She refused to believe that the cure could work on every mutation, but firstly the genes all look the same and secondly the cure was in the end ineffective as you stated :) I think the plot of X3 has some good ideas but I think the structure was a bit uneven as Brett Ratner tried to tell 2 different stories, the Cure storyline and the Dark Phoenix Saga, which was a little wasted if I'm honest. It wasn't terrible though, I think X3 is an alright film, some great moments
Poor Rogue :( Yeah I like the ideas of X3 its just Brett Ratner's direction, he is trying to tell too much in 1hr44mins it seems bloated, therefore this movie should have been longer so they could have developed the Dark Phoenix story line as much as The Cure plot :) I don't hate X-Men 3, I think there is good in there
because she was very insecure about when she touched people, it might not have been as bad as before she took the cure but she will still have problems if the cure was ineffective
Fair enough I see your point but as far as the movie goes, I would say Bobby is only there to comfort Kitty but he does love Rogue as she does come back to him at the end of the film. I reckon that the cure would be ineffective on Jean Grey as she was like the most powerful mutant ever. If Wolverine gave her the cure instead of killing her then she would have been worse off.

What really bugs me about this theme is it has like an Egyptian tone from the Brendan Frasier mummy movies to it. It would have so-so-so absolutely suited for Apocalypse's arrival. Doubt he'll ever show in the movies, but just imagine this score going with him, perfection!
one of the most underrated films in the last 10 years in my opinion,i thought Last Stand was miles better than the other 2 films. The action was superbly choreographed, the musical score is up there with one of the greatest of any action film, the acting was great. I thought X-Men was too short and i thought X2 was far too long and dragged whereas The Last Stand flew was nearly 2 hours yet absolutely flew by!
I know right. I didn't cry myself but I did feel the emotional themes incorporated into the score. It actually enhances the experience of watching the movie somewhat. I actually like X-Men 3 to a certain degree, not a great movie by any means, but it does have some emotionally powerful moments and I do think that the soundtrack enhances this quite a lot. I think X-Men 3 might have the best music of the entire series, its so powerful, dramatic, epic and emotional :) You go ahead and cry away :) Shows that John Powell did his job

If you must know, by hardcore comic nerds point of view(not mine originally,i just wikipedia that shiz)They did Phoenix wrong by skipping straight to the Dark Phoenix version of the character and downgrading her to simply being an "alternate personality" disorder that Jean had that Charle's tried to suppress, rather then doing like the comics, and having them discover it as a separate alien entity growing within her slowly possessing her mind and bent on taking over other planets with her omega-level powers and such. Not only that, they killed her off too early when they easily could've milked for least 1 more film with the same cast. That and Cyclops wasn't supposed to die. They could've easily stretched this for another film or have waited for Bryan Singer to come back and do it, but he was too busy directing Superman Returns at the time and when the actor for Cyclops didn't like the new director, i believe it was him who wanted out thus they killed him off as well.
+BatBrickFlicks Yes, they had the correct special effects for her hands and eyes going leading up to her full transformation by the end credits, i'm just saying most fans agree they screwed that comic story up in X3 by changing not just the effects, but the way the entire character's personal story plays out as well.
You're right, but I'd consider them as three separate series with same characters but different stories. Still, knowing that they were intended to be connected with each other is kinda maddening. @MaxDamageProductions If you did not watch after the credits, you would not know. Do you remember the scene where he is talking to his students about transmitting consciousness into the body of another being, using the father in the coma/vegetable state as an example? Well, he did just that right as Phoenix vaporized him. After the credits, the man in the coma wakes up as Xavier.
@clovie101 so what?! he's from the x-men universe... and they planned on making it, it was official, but now they canceled the project... if you don't believe me, google it yourself. (or you can also see it in IMDB's "did you know?" of x-men:first class).

I think the problem with X3 was that it tried cramming too much into one movie (phoenix and the cure) when both deserved their own separate films to get the most thematic material from the subject matter.
Yeah, there's somethings that are going to be impossible to fix, like in X-men Charles said he met Eric at age 17. To make myself sleep well at night I pretend the Emma in Wolverine, wasn't Emma, but just had similar powers. I think that's what the continuity is going to keep it as too, even though it was obvious they were going for her when that movie was released. I bet when they have Quicksilver become a serious character, there will be no mention of him being locked on the island either.
dude on top of that, they left it on a cliff hanger, at the end after the credits, professor Xavier was alive. they better make a fourth one or i'm going to be pissed...
The music in this movie was easily the best thing about it.

agreed and The Wolverine had the worst soundtrack of the series, it was okay but very forgettable

I honestly like this movie, it’s not perfect, BUT I still like it
In X-Men trilogy the third one has the best music
Is this is in a higher key ? I thought the pitch sounded slightly higher
dude on top of that, they left it on a cliff hanger, at the end after the credits, professor Xavier was alive. they better make a fourth one or i'm going to be pissed...
