There’s actually a shay locomotive being restored at the three rivers rambler. My opinion. If Denton Farmpark would actually acquire a 2nd steam locomotive shay locomotive 1923 would fit perfectly. It has the correct origins. Not to mention, a little more tractive effort. And would negotiate around curves better, just my opinion
I had a great time, don't think I'll make Christmas but I'm looking forward to the next Threshers' Reunion! Hopefully next year I can stay longer than half a day.
You got a ride in a helicopter? Something I might never do, but, I just hope when I go to Tweetsie Railroad this summer, I’ll be able to go on my very first ever cab ride
It was my first ride in a chopper, it was pretty fun and the rides at the reunion only cost $20. The ride is pretty short though, just a short loop around the park. I hope you can get a cab ride at Tweetsie, cab rides are always great fun.
Thanks, and I hope a can bring my dad on board. I don’t think he ever got a cab ride in he’s youth. He got a ride behind 4501 when he was 13 back in the 80’s. If 12 is operating, he’d have a blast, cause 12 is he’s favorite locomotive at Tweetsie.
It was built as a tank engine butbthe tank was too rotted to restore so they added a tender from another locomotive and put brass bands on the boiler jacket for cosmetic reasons
I am the owner of the whistle, I will try to help as much as I can, so here is the info that I have. The whistle is a 1910s Hancock whistle made by the Crosby Valve Company before Hancock started making whistles. It was later customized by Raymond J. Good, who is believed to be of the Southern Railway and lived in Shenandoah, Virginia. All of this information was hand stamped in the top of the whistle, which unfortunately sounds much better in person.
I was there the first day the park opened for the Threshers' Reunion

Wow that looks pretty cool. Definitely going on the bucket list.
Handy Dandy railroad #9 looks different than last July love the new look.
I might just have to go to this next year.
I love working here every year
It looks like a fun experience. It's certainly great as a guest, I can't go this year but I'm looking forward to the 2020 reunion.
It was good to see you again, I hope you enjoyed yourself, you need to come back for Christmas!

SmokyMtnSteam, I’ve never known you to turn down steam, but oh well, see you soon!
Like Handy Dandy railroad #9 the whistle and bell and the train ride plus the railroad.
New whistle improvement I see.
I hope you have plans on going back this year. Right?
Maybe, hard to say this far out. I'd definitely like to go back.
Nice!
Guy in the fireman's cap looks oddly familiar....

Josh Scott has #9 had a single chime whistle?
Ethanimations ™, Yes, I have one and 9 has worn it twice.
Josh Scott has it worn it during the threshers reunion
I was there on that day.
