To those asking: all the source will be open! Currently all the design files are in quite a mish-mashed state from various revisions and such, but once I get things working well and cleaned up (probably after the next video or so), everything I designed will be available on my Github! I'll be sure to mention it once it's up!
I am so happy to see everything you are doing is comming together so nicely. Also happy that you started building this PNP. Even designing and building your own feeder is so cool. Thank you so much for making it avialibale for everybody who want's to build something similar. Great work dude.
What are your machines (3d printers etc) and equipment ? I'm buying everything and diying a new workshop 3d printer, cnc, soldering station... If you can put affiliated links would like to kick a few bucks your way
Thnx bro ....
Do you have a materials list as well as stl files to replicate this?
Once it is fully up and running, you should sell kits
I found this video because of your Reddit post and was immediately drawn to it because of your way of editing. Short stop- motions, neat and subtle transitions, this is great man! I almost forgot that you've designed a pick and place machine too xD. Great work, I'm going to check more of your videos!
Hey thanks so much!! I love your paste extruder design, gave me some ideas for adding solder paste dispensing on the PnP!
@@stephen_hawes My pleasure! Cool that you've seen that design and great that you mention paste dispensing! I don't know if you've already heard of the Voltera One www.voltera.io/, but I want to build upon that principle in the future and make a dispenser like that. I work at an electronics manufacturer and this can be very powerful for making prototypes. We should definitely keep in touch! :D
@@properprinting Yeah I have, it's a super cool company! I haven't looked into exactly how their system works, but they'd be a great example to look at while building my own paste extruder. Would love to stay in touch!!
I don't think i'll ever need a pick&place but the journey itself is fascinating to watch. Gratz on finally having something truly works!
Horrendously underrated. An extremely polished and satisfying journey of engineering and manufacturing with just the right amount of abstraction. Brilliant!
Thanks for sharing your process and thinking.
Awesome! It's nice to see it finally come together!
Thanks!! Yeah, it feels incredible to actually be picking parts from the feeder!
I really enjoy your videos. Research , experimentation and frustration will make an exciting journey up to the final experience : watching your idea alive. Greetings from Santo Domingo Dominican Republic.
Huge props on making something truly unique. My machine is a mashup of others designs, customized to my liking. I can't imagine doing everything from scratch.
Also, I cant wait to see what you do with Openpnp - especially the vision and feeder portion. Theres a lot of new development taking place lately, and the project can always benefit from new ideas (and people that know java better than me, haha). The vision has always been a pain point for me. Camera, light, and pipeline tweaking is constant, and frankly, frustrating. But if your machine is consistent enough it wont be bad at all once everything is adjusted.
Thanks so much!! That's exciting to hear that a lot is being developed right now; I might have to brush off my Java skills from college! Interesting that the vision has been difficult to get tuned. I'm about to dive into using OpenPnP to control it, so I'll keep an eye out for that.
@@stephen_hawes I think most of it in my case is lighting around the cameras. They wouldnt have to work as hard if the lighting was better.
Another awesome video! Top-notch editing and great content all around Stephen!!
Fantastic redesign! Love the part about integrating the washer into the model to reduce parts and save $60.
you definitely deserve more followers
Great job, enjoying the build!
Good job
Hey! I've subscribed to you from Reddit and not disappointed! You're making really cool stuff! Are you going to publish blueprints and 3d-models of your parts? That'd be cool! About conveyor belts: are you going to connect PNP to 3D-Printer and some kind of PCB printer?
Thanks!! Yes, all the source will be available once I get it together into a presentable state! I'll be sure to mention it in a video when that happens. I'm probably not going to connect it to a printer with the conveyor, but more like a hopper for a huge stack of boards. It's really cheap nowadays to get precise custom PCBs made, so I probably won't go down the path of making the boards themselves (although that is super fun to do!).
Great stuff! Thank you for sharing!
I just found your channel thanks to RUclips's algorithm actually working for once 😂
Your videos rock! I have been wanting a pick-and-place for a very long time now and have seen some designs but didn't want to drop $3,000 or more.
Your exuberance in your videos is infectious, creators like yourself is what make our hobby amazing!
Thanks for your videos and your awesome style.
Keep it up!
You're the best thing that someone told me about and happened to me in the whole quarantine
Good work
this is sick !!
Love your videos keep the good work up
with the pen tool you could trace out the outline of the board so you know where to put it!
GOOD JOB!
I love how you show these little shots of like a chain or a belt or soldering etc and it perfectly captures that satisfying feeling if building stuff.
Do you have a platform to share your different models? It's interesting to hear about your pivot in design. You're right, it's super hard to know when to finish or when to move on.
Also I'm so so so pumped for the vision system!
Have you figured out a reliable way to remove the foil yet?
I actually service and repair feeders at work.
Usually the foil is removed just before Pickup, its held under tension by a spring loaded arm so when the tape advances the foil is instantly removed.
A small Motor takes up the slack and preloads the arm again.
Its quite simple and doesnt require any Control Inputs to the feeder from the Controller.
It would add a few parts but is very reliable.
Any faults are usually due to tangled foil and are quick to clear.
Id be happy to send you a quick drawing
Great content
Hi ! Thanks for your awesome videos ! I'm also building my PNP machine from an old laser cutter and your videos are inspiring ! I absolutely love the feeders !
Thanks !
Thanks by subtitles
Man... Ur awesome 😍
I stumbled upon your channel from RUclips recommending a video about the pick and place.. Awesome work! Subbed and notifications are now on 👍🏻
I don't know about everything else, but you sure do produce some very nice 3D printed parts.
Great content with an amazing video quality!
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this PNP in its "final" form :)
I'm sure it'll be great! Definitely considering to build it then...
really great job :) i hope to buildt it one day if its a complete project
good jobs bro
That stop motion animation at 5:10. Exquisite.
Thanks!! It was a blast editing it together
congratulations love your videos man
What is the name and gauge of the cable that you use?The black one with 4 wires
Now is time to design the controller board with all the shields integrated.
Great job! Continue this way, you will get way more viewer and new subscriber like me because you deserve it ;) Also really cool editing, fluent to watch.
Phanomenal lightning in your Vids. how do you do this?
Is that a servo horn round your neck? What's the story there? 👀
Are you going to publish the design files?
Hey for a test case, have you ever tried to pick and place that small motor driver chip that's in the feeder? would be interesting sizes you can/cannot place. some PnP use different nozzles.
Just wondering.
How to get drawing to yours assembly?
Nice build but what is used for ???
I want the make this machine for make DPSS laser diode but it also wants soldering when parts place so how i do please reply me and where you get parts
Nice Project Stephen , I Am Looking To Build One So Bad , But Can U Help Me With Something ? I Look Alot On Internet About Liteplacer Kit , And I Really Have A Question , Is it really a big different to use or not use a camera ? what is camera used for exactly ? and can we added to ramp and arduino ? Your Machine seems to worked well without it , but if you use camera , what will be the different ?
i even didnt know anything about pick and place machines before watching your video and now , i am really really interest to build one , but this camera thing is make me wonder
Thanks And Sorry For Bad English !!
( I am Looking Internet Nonstop For Answer , So Please Help :D)
hello ! sigma profiles not v-slot type in that video. but x y carriers rollers v-slot type. is there create any problem for setup or when running rollers ?
and good project
What are your machines (3d printers etc) and equipment
how do i get the STL files
See your happiness 🤣❤️🚀😍
Your amazing man, congrats on 0 dislikes 🤣
first!
Great build, annoying delivery. Robotics enthusiasts generally don't care about personality, since we lack any of our own.
