Rod and Ron were in a band called Faces. They are two of the three current surviving members. Their albums are legendary examples of musicianship that earned them a place in the Rock& Roll Hall of Fame. After Faces broke up, Rod Stewart became a very successful solo artist. Ronnie Wood joined The Rolling Stones, another legendary band in their own right.
And don't forget that Kenney Jones became the drummer for the Who. So the Faces birthed a superstar singer, a Rolling Stone, and a member of the Who.
Definitely need to react to Faces - Stay With Me, and Faces - Ooh La La. Also, Rod Stewart's cover of People Get Ready, with Jeff Beck is classic.
Small Faces was the band !
Small Faces was the band with Steve Marriott on vocals. After he left, to form Humble Pie, Rod Stewart and Ron Wood joined, and the band shortened the name to just Faces.
Rod, Ron and Keith also played together in "the first barbarians " , check out their live performances!
Hit songs for five decades. Great to see another generation understanding and appreciating his talent.
Slight clarification Rod is of Scottish/British heritage and generally favors the Scottish side more. Great song...Maggie is a cougar who was definitely using a young boy for her own purposes. At the time no one thought about it but it is interesting to see how people react to this scenario nowadays. My fave line is "steal my daddies cue and make a livin out of playin pool"
D’oh …all these years I thought it was “ playing fool”, as in following his father’s example of being a working class chump. My favorite line too.
@@dantallman5345 Scots ARE British. He is English (from his mother) and Scottish (from his father), and was born and raised in London. So he's unambiguously British, has Scottish roots, but is an Englishman.
I can relate to that line.
@@jawbone78 The blood is strong. Have a look at the covers of his albums, "Smiler" and "Atlantic Crossing." You can be British if you like, you can choose not to be European if you like and you can self-identify as a goat (apologies to goats) if you like, but none of these opinions can change anything.
Scottish IS British 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
This song was from the album, "Every Picture Tells a Story." This was the first time, post Beatles, that anyone held the No 1 spots on both the US and UK singles and albums charts at the same time.
A fantastic album! One of my favourite songs in it is the title track from it.
Yes he's British. This is one of my all time favorites from Rod.
🏴🏴🏴
He's Scottish , born in Scotland.
@@rogerdaly6326 Sir Roderick David Stewart CBE (born 10 January 1945)[2] is a British rock and pop singer and songwriter. Born and raised in London, he is of Scottish and English ancestry
@@robertgraves4527 yeah i found that out myself. I have a friend of Scottish descent and he worships Rod and had me convinced he was from Scotland. Now i know better.
@@rogerdaly6326 oh OK my bad. The accent sounds very British when he speaks.
The year this song hit the airwaves I was involved with a "mature" woman (I was a teen).. it still makes me smile and think of her. She never kicked me in the head, but it might have been better had I "gone back to school" haha
Good reaction.
So, 50ish, 60ish? Big droopy hangars? You dog you. 😮
Me too ! Ironically met at a party and she invited me to her place to read my Tarot cards.

Ooh boy, and I bet she told you the Cards said to slip her your "bob rod" eh bobby? Cool story bruh. Penthouse Forum March 94 right? Lmfao 🤏
@@kbrewski1how’s your bush ?
@robertroddy
The hydrangeas are coming in nicely but the azaleas need more watering. Thanks for asking Lil rod lmfao 🤪
This song is a classic. The faces were an amazing early 70s band. Rod is from north London and his mum was English and his dad was Scottish
I think Maggie is a cougar, and Rod was her college-aged snack.
Shagadelic!!!
I have heard that too.
Maggie might say yes
Maggie might say no, so kids called her
Maggie may
Highschool. Its based on a one night stand he had with a much older (30+?) woman when he was 16.
@@doomhunter697 Is that true daddio?
@@jamescole8355 just check his bio, or the wiki page if you want.
Rockin'' Rod Stewart is a British rock and pop singer and songwriter. Born and raised in London, he is of Scottish and English ancestry. With his distinctive raspy singing voice
He was in a band called FACES, and then went solo. He's very talented. 👍🍀
The Faces are actually playing with him in this video. For a while Rod carried on a successful solo career while still singing lead with The Faces. That's Ron wood on the guitar.
They were the SMALL FACES before Rod joined. I think his large nose prompted them to drop the SMALL. :>
@@axandio Steve Marriott and most of the other members of Small Faces were short men. Enter Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, who are bother over 6' tall, and the "small" was no longer appropriate.
@@billsager5634 RIght and Rod's schnauzer was huge.
My favorite Rod Stewart song!! A true classic! Written about a relationship he had with an older woman when he was a younger man.
Britt, this song was released in July 1971. I was 12 at the time, and it was the best summer ever. I was doing a lot of girl watching that summer, with all the older girls wearing tank tops and short shorts. This song was in constant rotation on NYC’s 77 WABC radio during that wonderful summer. This song finished at #3 on 77 WABC’s Top 100 of 1971. What a great song, what a great summer.
Just had a flashback.
13.
UK.
Same Effect!
You paint a beautiful picture✌️
21st century sensibilities make me laugh teenagers did and still do want to have sex. Dosen't matter what age
(Sorry) the other one is!
Short shorts = HOT PANTS! 🤪
SO happy you’ve experienced one of the greatest songs ever. And some more beautiful mandolin at the end. Classic story of a school-age young man getting with an ‘experienced’ older woman. She didn’t LITERALLY kick him in the head, just used him for her own pleasure and got rid of him!… Next up for Rod, you must do the song Stay with me, original studio version. A great rocker, which also has Ron Wood playing some fantastic guitar!
Maybe the final position of the night before they passed out from exhaustion was what the French call soixante-neuf [69] and Maggie literally kicked Rod in the head in the morning.
By accident.
"Rod Stewart has a really cool voice" Understatement of the year. :)
I love his voice. Forever Young is another good 1. I think you would enjoy it.
Rod stewart is awesome. Great song.
A stunning singing career spanning over five decades. I first heard him as the singer in 1969 with The Jeff Beck Group.
With Ronnie playing bass! Never saw them, had both albums.😊🤙🎶❤
My favorite Rod Stewart song, •••THE FIRST CUT IS THE DEEPEST•••!!!❤❤❤❤
First time hearing this song ? "Maggie May" was a real anthem in Europe in the seventies. I was on a trip to Scotland and in any pub or club when this song started to play everybody would stand up, start dancing or rather jumping and singing. Just so much fun...
Same here in the USA, I was in college then and it would be played on the jukeboxes in all the bars and at parties when it first came out. A great sing along song. A time when songs had a story to tell along and written and performed by great musicians and singers. Miss those times...
I already know I'm gonna like this it's my favorite Rod Stewart song❤😊
Rod Stewart had his own band Ron Wood is a member of the rolling Stones
#1 hit of the year 1971 in the U.S.A... Great tune.
He is British and was number 1 in UK, it literally makes no sense for you to mention US, he is British.
@@marcosruiz1709 What the hell are you talking about. He had the #1 tune of the year in the US. Why not mention that!
IF you REALLY want to have fun with Rod Stewart, then check out his videos for these three songs: 'Hot Legs', 'Do You Think I'm Sexy?' and 'Tonight's The Night'. Not only are they 'fun' songs, you will die laughing with the videos.
But before he became Barry Manilow, react to STAY WITH ME first, also with the Faces and Ron Wood!!
Personally I prefer his more serious songs - Sailing, the Killing of Georgie, Forever Young
@@carokat1111
"Later" Rod couldn't hold a candle to the early stuff.
Early Rod is great, the later stuff is shite.
Ah going back to my high school days, sunbathing in the backyard, listening to Rod Stewart and Maggie May, and ooo hoo-oo hoo along with the ending.
He's British, the song is about being used basically as a boy toy by an older woman
Yes, born in London, England, and, proudly, of Scottish descent.
Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood were in the Faces together. Ronnie has been in the Rolling Stones since the mid 70's.
I've seen Rod 6 times and I still love him today.
Awesome song, a classic that will live on and on 😊
Rod Stewart STAY WITH ME is a MUST listen.
“I was only Joking” is my personal favorite! Have not seen any reactors do that one yet! Slower song but hits home!
Maggie was a cougar teaching a young cub the ways during a summer fling...now it is fall and he is having to decide... stay here, or go back to school, or just ramble around... Around New Years... listen to his rendition of Auld Lang Syne... from Sterling Castle...
One of a kind. Love his voice. “You’re in My Heart” is beautiful. “I Don’t Wanna Talk About it” another great.
Rhythm Of My Heart Is 1 of my favorite Rod Stewart songs.
Some confusion in the comments. Rod Stewart was born in London, but has Scottish ancestry. He performed with the Faces who also included guitarist Ronnie Wood - Ronnie later joined the Rolling Stones.
Two time member of Rock & Roll hall of fame. Over 50 plus years of great music…try People Get Ready, I Don’t Want To Talk About It, Tonight’s The Night, The Killing Of Georgie, Hot Legs, Stay With Me…🔥
Love the mandolin at song's end. Just beautiful.
Love it Britt!! Rod the Mod will provide hours of great fun!
So happy to watch Your reactions to himself. This song as storied as it is almost slept on the cutting room floor.
You wear it well Britt! Thanks!
With Rod and Ronnie Wood is the famous Ronnie Lane in the yellow jacket who suffered from MS eventually, everybody loved Ronnie. John Peel famous and influential Radio One DJ pretending to play the mandolin and Kenny on Drums. Magical line up, magical times.
You should see the official video of Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck doing the Cutis Mayfield classic, “People Get Ready”.
All time classic!!!!! 👌
That riff at the end!!!!!!!!!
ray jackson from lindisfarne, played mandolin
That song came out at the end of my first Westpac cruise to Vietnam. Its part of a playlist I can never forget!
Saw Rod & The Faces in 1974 when Ronnie Wood was still there....saw him a few other times thru the years too.....but that was one of my 1st concerts......
Rod's mum is English.. and his dad is Scottish.... he was born in England but then raised in Scotland. So there ya have it. This song was about a May-December romance that went wrong ... just for clarification. lol First song I had ever heard of Rod's .. and that lead me to being a lifetime fan for sure! I heard him because of my mum.. she was head over heels for Rod. I totally died of embarrassment as a kid.. when I brought a friend home from school one day... and my mum had a Rod Stewart concert blasting on the television... and there's my mum dancing around the living room.... volume at full tilt.. and her singing her fool head off so loud to HOT LEGS she didn't hear us come in. The look on my friend's face was priceless. She thought my mum was insane.. but loved what she saw and heard. I was dying inside. lol That's all that girl could talk about at school for weeks. 🤣 Geeez....... However.. that being said... it didn't sway me from loving Rod... if anything I have my mum to thank for introducing me to his music. 🥰
Rod's father is Scottish and Rod identifies as Scottish but he never lived in Scotland. He went to school in Highgate and Muswell Hill in London.
@@mikeoliver159 I thought I had heard Rod say in an interview about growing up in Scotland.. but maybe he was referring to his dad? Not sure now.. lol.. Makes sense that he's got an English accent and not a Scottish brogue accent. Thanks for the clarity and the facts.
Sir rod Stewart is 78.born in Highgate london.he's English/scottish.stewart is a very old Scottish surname.
He's on his third wife and has 8 kids.
Loves football (soccer)and likes to kick a ball around.
Lol. You are too cute! Love your reactions. 😂❤
I was stationed in South Philly in the Navy when this song came out around 1971 or 1972. Britt, I love your fresh response to an old song.
The band was Faces....from the same show "Stay With Me" and "I'm Losing You" are definitely worth a listen also.
Ron Wood is now the guitarist with The Rolling Stones. Rod has a solo career…
Born and raised in London, he is of Scottish and English ancestry, with a distinctive raspy singing voice, Stewart is among the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 120 million records worldwide. This song was released in 1971 .
The first concert I went to was Rod Stewart and the faces at the Odeon in Lewisham, 1974, I was 13 . I went with my best mate Les Nemes, who later on was the bassist for Haircut 100 , a session musician and toured the world with Rick Ashley. Not only Ron Wood, Ian McLagan on keyboards, Kennet jones on drums, and Tetsu Yamauchi on bass ( I believe he had been in Cream) - Ronnie lane had left by then I believe. We missed the last bus so went to the police station to see if we could sleep in a cell, but they called parents and arranged for a taxi to get us home . Amazing night 👍
Born in London to an English mother and Scottish father. Most people associate him with Scotland due to his support for the Scottish national football team and his favourite football club Glasgow Celtic as well as his penchant for wearing tartan.
And by the way, there is no such thing as a single British accent. There are 4 main dialects that make up what are British accents... Scottish english, Welsh english, English english and Ulster english (Northern Irish). They are all very different from one another.
I grew up listening to Rod Stewart, he's a freaking legend
One of my favs from high school. Loved it then, love it now. ❤
Thanks a million Britt! Loved your reactions! Esp the Ron part!
You got it exactly perfect what we thought 50 years ago when it came out.
He's a Scot Britt and proud of it! :)
Rod the Bod as he was called in to 70's. You have ro see him in concert. He puts in a great entertaining show
🇨🇦 Yes British ! And totally Bias, but this character is my Wife's favourite, LOL, because they went to school together in Highgate !
Suddenly we are back in England Scotland in the early 1970's and the whole croed.....ROD NEYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Rod is British of Scottish ancestry! Rod describes Ron Wood as being his "best mate". Ron shows up in a lot of Rod's videos and even live performances if he isn't busy with the Rolling Stones. They were in 2 bands together, Faces and The Jeff Beck Group.
Scottish and English. Scottish father, English mother, but he was born and raised entirely in England.
There's no one more british/celtic singer as Rod Stewart
In English folk music, Maggie Mae is a dockside gal who robs sailors. Different song entirely, but that Maggie is a thief. The Beatles did a brief clip of that song on "Let it Be".
I'll also mention that I heard an interview clip of Rod talking about this song. Said he was driving down to London, and heard on the radio that it had reached number one. He turned the car around,, and drove home to give his parents a hug.
Rod and Ron have been playing together for close to 60 years.
Britt for a laugh, react to the video to his hit "Do You Think I'm Sexy". I once saw him in concert and it was great fun to be among 20,000+ fans at the outdoor performance, all singing the song at the top of our lungs!
Lol! Btw, Britt callin the fuzz on Maggie. Too darn funny!!
This is one of his earliest hits (1973) when he was just hitting his stride. Two of his hits from the eighties, Rhythm of my Heart and Forever Young showcased him as a great lyricist with a great range.
1971
As a child in the early 70`s this is the song that made me a Rod Stewart fan to this day at 62 years old...I can never get enough Rod.
Love this man !!
Rod is awesome. Saw him live several times. Rod had a band called faces. Ron Wood was in that band with him. . the Faces broke up and Ron Wood went to the Rolling Stones. He still plays with ride once in a while like in that unplugged show they did.
I love me some Rod Stewart thanks to my older brother who used to listen to him about as much as Led Zeppelin, Elton John and the Doobie Brothers. Please do a reaction to Rod's official version version of "Tonight's The Night". I think you'll love that one. But for sure, Maggie is like those snakes in your Snoop Dogg reaction.o
I love to hear him sing, Forever Young
at his best! i listened to this song all through out the day back then! Maggie was a Ninja woman!😁
Yeah rod was born in north London, England. His mum was English and his dad was Scottish. This was rod performing with the faces, Ronnie wood, Ronnie Laine, Ian mclaghan and Kenney jones. Amazing musicians. Me personally I think these years in the early 70s was rod at his best, check out all the faces songs, absolute classics.
The band The Small Faces had a singer/guitarist named Steve Marriott. He left the band and the remaining members needed to replace him. They got Ron Wood (Woodie) to play guitar and Rod Stewart to handle the vocals and changed the name to just Faces. Steve Marriott went on to found a band named Humble Pie. You might check out their version of Thirty Days in the Hole. Also a staple of old FM radio called I Don't Need No Doctor,.
Funny story, when my oldest son was in 2nd grade, 1992, he's teacher would tell me that she couldn't get on to him cuz he reminded her of Rod Stewart ( he had a mullet 😂)
This is a very young Rod your watching. He is one of the biggest acts from England and his sidekick is Ronnie Wood and the band they were in at that time is called the Faces. Now, Ronnie Wood is one of the Rolling Stones guitarists and Rod went on to become one of the most celebrated vocalists in the world, and yes, his voice is unique and he has lived in Beverly Hills for years, but he also has a massive Chateau in Scotland or maybe Northern England. Rod has a very unique voice and is a helluva a lead singer and has made and sold millions of albums on his own.
He goes way back, with the Jeff Beck group "Morning dew" 🌄 among others. Try "Every picture tells a story " .. I used to listen to Maggie May in the dawns early light driving to high school through the dairy farms and surrounded by the Cascade Mts to the East and North, and the Islands of the northern Puget Sound to my west. You won't find me complaining about my teenage life. Well, I could have learned more about girls. But, mornings like that, I wouldn't trade for anything!
It’s freezing here today and I’ve spent all day going through your reactions. Thanks.
Loved it! One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite singers! I was lucky enough to see him in concert, years ago!
Later edit, Stewart is a model railway enthusiast. His 23 ft × 124 ft (7.0 m × 37.8 m) HO scale layout in his Los Angeles home is modelled after the New York Central and the Pennsylvania Railroads during the 1940s. Called the Three Rivers City, the layout was featured in the cover story of the December 2007, December 2010, February 2014, and June 2017 issues of Model Railroader magazine. In the 2007 article, Stewart said that it meant more to him to be in a model railroad magazine than a music magazine. The layout, which has a mainline run of 900 ft (270 m), uses code 70 flextrack and a Digital Command Control (DCC) system made by Digitrax.[156][157] Stewart has a second, smaller layout at his UK home, based on Britain's East Coast Main Line. In a sidebar[158] to the 2014 Model Railroader article, Stewart confirmed (in an anecdote about his having unwittingly mixed red scenery texturing material into a "turf" mix he used around the bases of buildings) that he is colour-blind.[159][160] In a 2019 interview with Railway Modeller magazine, he said the hobby is addictive for him; the singer has admitted to taking cocaine in the past.[161]. My introduction to rock and roll in 1971....my babysitter played this and another record over and over. Tried to get my children to name a granddaughter Maggie....Nope. 😂
Yes! And Ronnie Wood right next to him! Ronnie joined the Rolling Stones in the mid 70's & is still with them. Rod is a solo artist but he and Ronnie occasionally get back together for special performances.
My favorite of his sailing.
Faces-Ian McLagan (keyboards), Ronnie Lane (electric bass, vocals), and Kenney Jones (drums and percussion)-were joined by guitarist Ronnie Wood and singer Rod Stewart, both from lefty the Jeff Beck Group. This became the core of the group Faces
Hello Britt awesome video of Rod awesome reaction by you again thank you so much for sharing your video with us love it Britt.🤗👍
Love him!❤️. He is phenomenal in concert…saw him 2x!
One of many in the catalogue of Sir Rod Stewart níce video of him live in concert Edinburgh with his older sister
Whenever I heard or watched Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, Rod Stewart always came to mind as a likely influence for singing and stage persona. Rod was an original and had his influences, Chris is an original and Rod is one of his influences.
I hope you can dig into Rod Stewart’s musical legacy.
Rod was heavily influence by the American soul singer Sam Cooke.
Rod Stewart and Ronny Wood playing together in Jeff Beck group, (yeas he is English with a Scottish father) later the faces. In the earlry 70s, about ,1975 Rod was is on is own, and it pays out very well. Maggie May is about when he is 16-17 yo and had his first woman, she tricked him to a tent and it was over, recoding to Rod him self, in about 4 sec, she was much older then him at the time, all of this is on internet, just search on Maggie may and Rod Stewart, its all in there. He has played music since 1962, so for over 50 years he had sold out arenas. He has the record of most attendent Largest Concerts Ever 1. Rod Stewart at Copacabana Beach (1994) - 4.2 million attendees (look it up). So he is one of the biggest entertaiment ever, still selling out arenas at 78...who can do that?
This Clip is when he still is in the Faces, so of course he's young, he should be around 25 - 30 years old in this video. Firts time i saw him live in Scandinavium (Gothenburg, Sweden) was in 1981. I want anyone who wants to know more about Rod to do a Google search. Not many artists sell out arenas year after year for close to 60 years. He's 1 in 100, almost like Elvis, Elvis is 1 in 10,000,000.
By the way, his house in Beverly Hills is for sale. if you get a lot of people together, you might be able to scrape together the 70 million dollars that the property is worth according to the broker.
Such a great song. Always loved this one. The guitar solo is perfection.
Rod was a British football player. Till he messed up his knee. Then he showed the world he had another talent 🎉😂
Great reaction Britt! You're right, the two performances you have watch so far are probably decades apart. However, both came off the same LP originally...Every Picture Tells A Story. It is from the early 70s and the band was called Faces.
I went to one of his concerts years ago,he was so awesome
Timeless ❤
One of my fav songs
I was in Italy with my parents 1971 when this song came out. Rod Stewart is so good
He is British. Fantastic to see in concert.
You owe it to yourself to see a Rod Stewart concert. He's now got a show in Vegas if that works for you. Truly a great show!
Fabulous song !!! Simply a Rockstar🎉
Rod Stewart is from England , Ron Wood is from England and has played with a few bands and has been with the Rolling Stones since 1974 , Rod is also Mr Sexy
Born in London but NEVER call Rod :English lol as he is a fanatical supporter of Celtic and Scotland.
Yes he’s British. He and Ron Wood were in the band Faces together before Rod went solo. Ron Wood is now in The Rolling Stones. They have remained good friends and collaborate often.
I’m finally fulfilling a lifelong wish and getting to see Rod Stewart in a few months. I’ve loved his music since Faces.
