I think it's the need some people have for others to retain at least some of their masculinity (for biological men) or feminity (for biological women). How can you argue that he isn't androgynous? Andrej is male, both biologically and mentally. He expresses his gender identity and fluidity through how he appears and how he acts. There is no 'right' or 'wrong' way to be androgynous. Androgyny is a careful blend between male and female and whatever's in between. It's whatever it wants or needs to be, and to dub him as a 'drag queen' because you think he's too feminine is rather ridiculous. Mystery =/= androgyny.
