    I’m not quite sure how many trailers I’ve had over the years, from boats, to cargo, to utility, but I know this….not many things can be more aggravating to deal with than than a dad-blamed trailer! Great video Wiley!

    Awesome video. That's a Sweet Heavy Duty 💪🏻 Trailer👍🏻.
    If you have a Local sewer co, they may have an abundance of pre-cut oak planking for the taking.
    Wiley , I to have seen hundreds if not more, trailers of all sorts broken down on the roadside. Some just hook em up, load em to the gills and hope for the best😬 but often find themselves in a pickle on the roadside.
    You set a fine example of what To Do and you shared a wealth of knowledge to other trailer owners.
    Take care, have a good day. I will see you guys on the next one.
    God Bless your family.

    You're right about buying the bolts in bulk. I got to a fastner company in Valley Brook, OK. They every bolt you can think of there as well rivets and any fastner you can think of. They are going straight to the wholesaler. Also, I've got a can of bolts I saved form pulling seats on the busses. 3 different sizes with nuts, and the seat belts use biggo bolts, like 7/16 or so so I saved them too. Have the kids safe them bolts. They'll come in handy someday.

    Trailer maintenance is important and people don't think about it and don't do it. Not only brakes and suspendion but WHEEL BEARINGS !!! I've towed so many trailers on a rollback due to bad bearings that only went bad because people don't pack the bearings every so often. I repack my trailer bearings about every 3-5 years depending on how much I used the trailer and check the brakes at that time. If it needs brakes, I find it's just about as cheap to just buy a whole net brake kit with backing plate, magnets, drum, pads and all. Most axles are industry standard Dexter brand. But yeah, your bad bearings can tear up your axle spindle to the point you have to have new axle put in and the last guy I know that had a tandem axle landscape trailer with a bearing that went bad, cost him $500 to have a new axle installed since it couldn't be saved. Of course I reminded him, now, pack the bearings on the other axle too since it's likely in the same condition as the others were. Sure enough, the bearings were dry and actually burnt, so to save the axle I suggested replace those bearings NOW. Even packing them at this point is nothing more than a short lived band aid, so replace the bearings, pack them good and you're good for another 3 years since you use this trailer quite often during lawn cutting season. Yep, you did it right and bought complete brake kits too. Great Job !!!

    • @WorkinWithWiley
      @WorkinWithWiley  8 месяцев назад +3

      And it was like $100 per axle super cheap!! Thanks man

    • @NomadicHooker
      @NomadicHooker 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@WorkinWithWiley Yep, just like I said. Cheaper to buy the whole axle kit than to replace just the pads and now you KNOW it all new and functional and most of all, SAFE.

    Had to chuckle, brother treat water sealed his flat bed, neighbor wanted to know how he got creosote, "make my own", so neighbor went home and proceeded to do his own, he got it on thick enough the children playing on it smudged up their clothes, and mama wasn't too happy, basically it's used diesel motor oil thinned with diesel, got a hunch gasoline oil may not have been quite so black. You all get to Arkansas you'll want to consider a combination used oil/wood heat for your shop

      @WorkinWithWiley  7 месяцев назад +1

      Bahahaha yup that mixture will get pretty messy! I am actually researching building my own waiste oil heater!

    Hi Wiley what about a license plate light 💡

    • @WorkinWithWiley
      @WorkinWithWiley  7 месяцев назад +1

      Oklahoma does not require licensing on personal trailers. Only commercial. It will be a different story once we become permanent Arkansas residents I assume. The light is built into the left brake light but won't be used yet lol
