@@chloethacker Have a clue about the sport. Rei Higuchi dominated that match. Spencer needed the collar tie to get to the top but Rei kept him at distance. He gave him two push outs but Spencer could not get close enough to prevent grounding. The match could have gone for three more minutes and he still would have lost. Instead of congratulating Rei he says he quit. Bullshit.

The guy that beat him I believe they said he was in his 3rd Olympics as well 2016 2000 and 2024. He had a lot of experience.
This was Spencer’s first Olympic. He’s a champion no doubt about it always has been.

@@kizufan8726sounds like you watched a different match than everybody else because that is not considered domination at all 😂 Spencer controlled center of the mat for the whole match, yes higuchi did a phenomenal job not giving Spencer his tie up, higuchi attempted several single legs and Spencer defended each one, if spencer came out on top of that scramble he literally wins the match; or if he loses the scramble and the ref gives him one of the push outs at the end he wins.

Spencer's my man, in an interview after his gold🥇 medal match, Spencer admitted he should've been more on offense and make his opponent wrestle him instead of the other way around. In wrestling, the best defense is a good offense. Especially nowadays where freestyle rules clearly favors the offensive-minded wrestler (i.e. winning on criteria, push-outs, etc)

Spencer is now gun shy. He is flat footed when time comes to shoot a takedown. He beat himself by being reluctant to shoot, attack, and fight without fear of the results. That was the only thing I felt sorry for him about. All that talent, but afraid to take the fight against the man on the mat. That will always be Spencer's thoughts looking back on that match. I was yelling at my son as we watched. He's not shooting! He's not attacking! Wrestling each match like you will never get to wrestle another. Leave the guy in the mirror with no regrets.

Spencer Lee is the goat , I’d love to meet him and have my son learn from him . The man has over come so much to get to where he is . I do t think people realize the doubt and depression one can face when hurt . But he’s battled back time and time again as well as wrestling hurt for his team . The guys the goat in my book . The world is lucky he’s never been healthy .

He’s far from the G.O.A.T. Perhaps one of the best in the last 10 years, but not even a Top 5 of all time. Dan Gable, Cael Sanderson, Pat Smith, Dan Hodge, Bruce Baumgartner, Jordan Burroughs, Yojiro Uetake, Kyle Dake, Kyle Snyder, Mark Schultz and a few others, are far more considered the dumb phrase G.O.A.T., over Spencer Lee any day. Good luck to your son (if he’s an athlete), or whatever he chooses in his life/career.
