Charges laid in Northcote homicide investigation
Waitematā Police have charged a man in connection with a homicide investigation underway in Northcote.
Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor, of Waitematā CIB, says a 37-year-old man has been charged with murder in relation to the incident at an Akoranga Drive address on Thursday night.
He will also face a further charge in relation to the injuries received to the second victim.
This man is due to appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow, Saturday 6 June.
"We hope this arrest will provide some reassurance to the community. As this matter is now before the Court, Police are unable to comment further," says Detective Inspector Proctor.

A homicide investigation has been launched by Waitematā Police following a serious assault in Northcote on Thursday night.
Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor, Waitematā CIB, says Police were called to the Akoranga Drive address at around 5.30pm following reports of an assault.
“Sadly, a man has succumbed to his injuries and has later died.
Another man suffered minor injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital.
“A third man was arrested at the scene last night and is in Police custody.”
Detective Inspector Proctor says no charges have been laid at this stage and a number of enquiries are still underway into the circumstances of this incident.
“Police have a scene guard in place at the address on Akoranga Drive today while a scene examination takes place.
“A post mortem will take place with formal identification procedures to be carried out.”
Police are unable to comment further around the man’s identity until this has been completed and next of kin have been notified.
"While this incident would have been alarming for the community, Police would like to reassure them that at this early stage we are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident," says Detective Inspector Proctor.

One person has died following an incident in Northcote this evening.
Police were initially called to an address on Akoranga Dr around 5.30pm following reports of someone being assaulted.
Police arrived and found one person with critical injuries, the person has since passed away. Another person sustained injuries and has been taken to hospital.
Police have taken one person into custody.
While this incident will be unsettling for the community initial indications suggest the parties involved in the incident were known to each other.
Police are currently speaking with witnesses and working to understand the circumstances of this incident.
