  • This video or animation explains the major rivers of India. You do not have to be a geography expert to clear UPSC Civil Services Examination. What you need is an informed opinion about these geographic issues to crack the Civil Services Prelims as well as Mains examination. As an IAS officer, you are going to be a generalist and not a specialist.

The Brahmaputra river (also called as "Burlung-Buthur" by the Bodo people of Assam), called Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibetan language, originates on the Angsi Glacier located on the northern side of the Himalayas in Burang County of Tibet and not Chema-Yungdung glacier, which was previously identified by geographer Swami Pranavananda in the 1930s.
-According to wikipedia....please do mend it as it is a major flaw

Yamuna, Chambal, Betwa and Son are not the left bank tributaries but the right bank tributaries of the Ganges. Please clear your concept about how to define the left and right bank tributaries of a river.

Hi Gaurav, let me help you to understand the concept of left bank and right bank. Its quite simple, just point out the direction of the river flow, for eg., if the river is flowing from west to east, the entire northern part would become left bank and the southern side would be its right bank. Hope this helps.

@@vinodmadiwalar7542 still in video there are certainly mistakes in my opinion. Yamuna is being described as left bank tributary of Ganga. That doesn't fit into equation.
