I think at the end Jazmine wanted HER to shine and go off, but HER was holding back because it wasn’t her song, lol! I think there was a miscommunication there. And I love that Jazmine is so pure, even knowing how amazing she is... she never tries to overshadow others. Their voices are SO PERFECT together! Two vocal beasts.

I've never heard the word bitch annunciated so beautifully within a song. I have watched every performance of this album and I'm never disappointed.

I hate to say this, but I wish people would stop acting like Kim Burrell birthed this girl...she didn't. She's way beyond Kim Burrell. Stevie Wonder was her mentor, she'd mentioned SEVERAL artists that's influenced her and I think it's a little narrow minded for people to think Kim Burrell is her only influence. I can only assume that people who say that only KNOW Kim Burrell because they think "runs" are the only weapon a singer should have in their arsenal. Nope, Jazmine is beyond all of that. I loved your reaction Denarian.
This is goood!! I can definitely hear how she pulls from different genres and artists. I definitely love the way she pays respect to those that has influenced her artistry BUT she has definitely made a lane of her own.

I agree! I don’t even think of Kim when I hear Jazmine. There are some singers you can tell they copy everything Kim does, but Jazmine does so much more. You can tell she has many influences.

The note wasn’t accidental she did it on purpose she just walked down a half notes while keeping the original high note she was playing with the Scale I play the piano so when I heard It I was like 😲
Accidental meaning it was done on purpose but the note is not in the scale. So yeah when you have a piece of music and let’s say you in the key of F.....the key of F has one flat which is B. But in the music you have a measure that is written with a B natural instead of a Bb that’s called an accidental. So with her going down those half steps she was creating accidentals in that particular key.
But I agree what she did was dope 💯
Heyy...forgive me if I’m wrong but I believe the key she is in is E (I’m working so I can’t verify lol). But the part I was referring to is when she sung the D natural on “Bodies”. She was definitely moving in half step like you said (E, D#, D) while keeping that high B. Because the the D natural is not in the original scale is why I referred to the music term “accidental”. But it was intentional of course haha.
What kind of music do you play?
Yeah, that is a jazz technique. Betty Carter did that a lot.

I think I've watched just about ever reaction to this tiny desk. It feeds my soul every single time.
The song Lost Ones took me a while to listen to all the way through becuase its so personal and so realateable for me. I could barely get through the first verse when I first heard it without crying and just being emotional. Now I can listen to it all the way through without crying but I still feel some type of way while listening to it.
