@@olliemck60 CRT and "anti-racism" are making this world a better place...? In literally what way? Stoking the fires of division in a country that's already aggressively politicized? Teaching white children that they're privileged and should think about how their existence "oppresses" black people? Teaching black kids that nothing in life is their fault and they should never bother trying to succeed since the whole world is stacked against them? Elevating or silencing people's voices based on their arbitrarily perceived level of "oppression"? Enforcing hiring and enrollment policies that literally discriminate against certain groups in order to meet an arbitrary quota of "inclusion"? Encouraging white people to view minority hires with skepticism because they can literally get a job with minimal qualifications if the company has a skin color quota to meet? Encouraging mediocrity in minority groups by essentially telling them "don't try you poor baby, the world hates you, but also you can get into esteemed schools and careers if the company is woke enough"? Inciting self-doubt in hard-working minority employees and students who are more likely to be seen as unqualified by their skeptical white peers - and left wondering if that skepticism is valid, and they didn't earn their position but were given it because they were the right color? Encouraging the election of such fantastic and inspiring national leaders as Kamala Harris, whose literal only qualifications were "is wahmen" and "is not white"?
Also, this comment was made 9 months ago, so if "Pollyana" is a reference to something in the video, I don't remember. So you kind of just sound off your rocker in this random notif I got about CRT and Pollyana.

@@drawingdragon CRT is responsible for the successful remediation of every case of implicit bias in the last 40 years; and will be the force that drives systemic racism out of our institutions. By the way, it is not taught in K-12.
Anti-racism energizes people to not accept the perpetual compromises with racism that have been made in this country for over 400 years. And will drive explicit and implicit bias out of our culture. Including the bias that affirmative action candidates are not qualified.
And Pollyanna refers to her love and forgiveness attitude that ignores repentance.
And lastly, she is clueless about CRT, which she hypocritically claims to hate while claiming not to hate things.

    • @drawingdragon
      @drawingdragon 2 года назад

@@olliemck60 Just saying "CRT remedies racism" doesn't prove anything. Do you have any examples? Any racist laws or institutions that have been overturned within the last few years because of wackjobs like Ibrim Kendi? Or are you one of those people who like to pretend that stupid wars like canceling Aunt Jemima and removing the heritage and income of an entire black family tree is somehow "fixing" racism?
By the way, when people say CRT is taught in K-12, we aren't referring to a curriculum called "CRT 101". If you think that, you haven't paid any attention whatsoever to your opposition. The concepts and tenets of CRT (and other branches of critical theory, such as critical gender theory) are pushed by teachers IN classes like history and economics. "Privilege walk" activities, "check your privilege" essays, banning school holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving because they're "too colonial", affirmative action practices that attempt to "remedy" past injustice by rejecting white and Asian students based on their race and the fact that the school has "too many", "blackout" days where white students aren't allowed to come to school (granted that one example was a college), and even fringe idiotic cases like a class "congratulating" two black students for - wait for it - being black, are all playing by the CRT rulebook. CRT isn't a curriculum, it's a path of logic that suggests every system in human history is unjust because every system in human history is made up of oppressors and oppressed.
"It will drive implicit bias out of our culture." No it won't. Implicit bias by definition is implicit. You can no more drive "rude thoughts" out of humanity than you can "implicit bias".
"Including the bias that affirmative action candidates are less qualified." Bruh. The only reason affirmative action exists the way it does now is because of "anti racist" policies. "Anti-racism" caused the problem, but give it enough time and it will fix it! And btw, yes, many affirmative action candidates are not qualified. That isn't a sting against them or their race, it's a heavy criticism of stupid policies that put skin color over qualification, and accidentally incite more racism along the way.

The only fiasco regarding CRT is the fact that right-wingnuts are gaslighting CRT for their political purposes. First CRT is not taught in K-12, I know because I took it and will teach it at the college graduate level. Second CRT is a successful framework for examing disparity/discrimination and is used by courts and other institutions successfully all over the USA to improve the work and general living environment.

Only racist people believe that slavery, nazism, etc are impacting millions of people today (regardless of the un-countless number of studies confirming the continuing catastrophic damage being done), and 3. CRT identified cases of bias and systemic racism (confirmed by court decisions, institutional policy recissions) are really only projected racism from CRT adherents. Again, very interesting response, I suspect it will take several sections to analyze the pathology you exhibited. I appreciate the input. Many years ago my daughter, who was then 5 years old, had a nightmare in which she was surrounded by monsters. She said she tried to shoot them with guns and bows and arrows but they just got madder and scarier. Then she said she felt a "fizzing" in her chest and her heart started spinning. I have said much the same thing. Even to some of my black friends. I am Norse and Cherokee. My adopted Grandmother was Blackfoot and Sioux and my Grandfather (Her husband) was mostly Norse. My other Grandparents are of course an interesting mix of those things as well. My Grandfather was career military. One of my Grandfather's best friends was Jamaican. I haver friends from all over the world. Scripturally I was taught several principles that involved "Treat others as you want to be treated." "An answer when mild, turns away rage." "Set things right amongst you" "If on your way to offer your sacrifice you remember your brother has something against you, leave your offering there and first go set things right between you and him." If you see your brother, whom you hate, who's cart is broken down on the side of the way and his oxen has escaped, you MUST go and help your brother. "You must love your neighbor as yourself." "For Truly I perceive that God is not partial, for the man in every nation who fears him and gives him glory is acceptable to him."
But people these days don't feel that way, they don't think in the same way we once did. The world seems to have gone mad and went backwards. I was taught to appreciate other cultures, connect with people over their food. Share something and build upon it. Look for what is on the inside. "Don't judge a book by it's cover." It "God see's what's in the heart, and you must try to do that too. Remember someone can be beautiful on the inside and not on the outside, or vice versa. Look for the secret person of the heart..." Etc...
I have learned to make some of my favorite foods from Loation Chef's and friends of mine's Italian Grandmothers. Cooking, invention, and the like is in my Southern Soul... Never have I thought that I should judge someone these ways. So you can imagine how confused I am in this current world and age. Everything seems to be going backwards. Communism seems to be holding sway and I am politically neutral, yet I am persecuted as well for just who i am. I think things would get much better if we remembered some of those things in the first paragraph and actually applied them in our lives. It boggles my mind with how much has changed.

You're such a powerful force and what I probably badly needed to hear! There has always been something that wasn't sitting right on me in this long conversations about race that have exploded in the last year. I also had a hard time associating the good values of antiracism with the hatred, division and poison that I've constantly seen online under the guise of it. Much of the predicaments were against basic values, but every time I happened to confront some of the assumptions I found myself against a wall of homogenous thougths. Sometimes you end up doubting yourself, you wonder if there must be something wrong with you if you have so much difficulty assimilating to the mainstream. That's the power of peer pressure, I guess. And you know, there's also guilt associated to that (I'm white LOL), so you really start to doubt of yourself. Is so easy to be labelled as "racist" today, according to Kendi, you just have to disagree with his philosophy to be called that. Which is stupid, but also a powerful weapon of manipulation.
Well, your videos are such a breath of fresh air, finally! Such a light in this claustrophobic atmosphere.
I think discussions like yours are especially precious to elevate the possibilities for change and involve people in the same mission towards progress and liberation.

This captures my main concern with antiracism programs and processes I've been part of is that they lack a better result they have achieved or can point to

"And people that make it seem that love and respect has not worked, they are deceiving you" - Kimi Katiti, 2021
This has honestly got to be one of the most poignant quotes I have seen in a while.

NAILED IT. it’s all about self-hatred and guilt for their OWN past sins. but then they PROJECT those sins onto everyone ELSE, and assume “they must be guilty of the same things that I am guilty of doing, because they have a similar skin pigmentation as me”.
this is EXACTLY the problem with White Fragility. every sentence in that book that says “White People are...” can be replaced by “I am...” it’s ALL Robin D’Angelos own White Guilt PROJECTED onto everyone else.
I read the first two chapters and I had to stop every five seconds, because I kept having to pause and shout out loud, alone in my room, and say “No, YOU do this. you are talking about YOURSELF. You know NOTHING about me, or any other people. You are talking about YOUR OWN BELIEFS.”

Thank you for this! When I was very young I had a lot of anxiety around black people because of the homophobic lyrics in hiphop. Eventually, after I was exposed to the fact that hip hop doesn't represent all black people, did my anxiety allow me to open up to people that are different than me.

I worked with a Nigerian guy back in the 80's and he asked me to be his best man in his weeding on the South Side of Chicago. He didn't know anybody else well enough who would stand up for him. I got to tell you, it was before a lot of this drummed up social justice stuff, and although I wouldn't have just walked around every neighborhood by myself, the family I stayed with ( the bride's family) were just great- and we got along so well and such a good time. People are people and have the same type of dreams and problems and things that they do.
Most people just want to live their their lives and get along.
