Burrito collector that creates another burrito, at what point are you just eating tortilla? I'd suggest a mobile burrito collector, which is like a babies bib, but has a burrito at the bottom.
Didn't expect him to show up in The Verge! I always noticed his videos of making unnecessary and stupid (but fun!) stuffs, and I pretty much liked his whole personality as a creator. Also, I liked how he also tends to listen to his audience, so when several people were complaining or give comments about the unnecessary inventions, he'd sometimes 'fixes it and made it even more unnecessary! Hahaha such a fun thing to witness
Awesome vid spotlighting Matty and the awesome Unnecessary Inventions channel! This series is a great concept and Becca really nailed the execution putting this together, hyped for future episodes!
Love this! Can definitely relate to the edit as you go style! Also, there’s something about seeing things in real life that will always beat the screen. Go Matty Go 🙌
Loved it! I hope you can ask super granular questions, not just like "how did you start?". A lot of general creator content can be found online, but to geek out or ask about very very specific stuff would be really useful and fresh, even if I don't understand it on the moment.
What a great video. I love his little trick of putting things in his video that the audience will react to in the comment section. That is genius. For another video, I wish you could do Guy Raz. Thanks so much!
Becca this was SO good! Matty is very talented been watching his content for a while so it was rad to see a behind the scenes like that. Please make more of these videos!
Creators thrive in the challenges of generating unique content within the constraints of being an individual with low production value. It also makes them seen more authentic and genuine compared to faceless companies. As they succeed, they invariably seek stability and ultimately become the very tightly structured corporate entity they turned to social media to get away from.
I think the content is there but I’d love more of a conversation between Becca and the creator and less VO. The VO drives the story but it would be neat if Becca drove the story with dialogue especially since creators and the verge team have commonality in creating content. I think an awesome person to have next in the series is Peter McKinnon! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for adding LinkedIn to your social media platforms Matty. Oddly enough your content is my favorite guilty pleasure, but I feel FAR LESS guilt watching your stuff there...
Simone Giertz would be good addition to this series (assuming she isn't already). PS: Your hairstyle looks awesome! How did you get it to look so glossy?
I would love to know your camera and lighting setup. AKA, I would love you to profile yourself next. I can tell you use a wide angle lens but would love to know your process as I always feellike the verge and all it's creators nail the cross section of being professional journalists, but are also personable and relatable. Do you write a script? Do you improvise everything? A combo...etc...
SO Here for this series! Gerald Undone would be pretty cool. Jacque Slade would be dope too. Someone I'm sure many don't know but would be cool too is DamiLee!
I have 3 suggestions! 1. Adrian Black, from Adrian's Digital Basement. Retro-focused content, not just showing "Oh, I fixed a retro gadget" but SHOWING and EXPLAINING the thought process behind the fix. You learn A LOT from his videos. 2. Max Miller, from Tasting History. A "cooking" channel that not only features recipes, but the whole history and context behind them. Funny guy, too. 3. MKBHD, of course.
What is your favorite Unnecessary Invention?
Burrito collector that creates another burrito, at what point are you just eating tortilla?
I'd suggest a mobile burrito collector, which is like a babies bib, but has a burrito at the bottom.
The Jewel cooler, and the follow-up with the knock-off versions.
Thanks for coming by the Studio and watching my chaotic process!
Great stuff!
You'll have to have her out again once the studio is rebuilt!
Dude your content is so unique and creative. Good job man. I remember back when you were just starting to come up on RUclips.
I like your style of arts man, keep it up!! 😂
Can't wait for the free tours. Hope there's complimentary chips n salsa. I do love a good salsa.
Great interview Becca. His childhood was also very chaotic - Matty's Mom
😂😂
Is he single 👀
@@JoshWitte no 😢
“You gotta give the people a moment to be right”
This is so interesting!
totally! and moments for engagement being thought about from the start is so obvious yet i would have never thought to do it.
The Verge + Unnecessary Inventions = Great way to kick-off a new series. I love it!
Matty is a genius. He's a "stop what you're doing and watch" creator for sure.
Didn't expect him to show up in The Verge! I always noticed his videos of making unnecessary and stupid (but fun!) stuffs, and I pretty much liked his whole personality as a creator. More than the process, I love how the show captures the creator's mind.
Short, crisp and a lovely start to the series 🎬
Loved it! I hope you can ask super granular questions, not just like "how did you start?". A lot of general creator content can be found online, but to geek out or ask about very very specific stuff would be really useful and fresh, even if I don't understand it on the moment.
I'm going to suggest Hank and/or John Green.
I'm a simple man, I see a video with Becca and I click.

What a great video. I love his little trick of putting things in his video that the audience will react to in the comment section. That is genius. For another video, I wish you could do Guy Raz. Thanks so much!

Hi Becca, congrats on your new focus. I know Matty well and you did a great job covering him, motivating me to watch until the end.

His business model is so great. It’s full of new arms he could do and it’s so genuine and silly.
Great video. Love the idea for the series - keep 'em coming!
This is really well put together. Fun story, good video!
I love the idea of this series, can’t wait for more!!
This was amzing 😊. Great job Becca as always.
I love when two things i love come together lol
I like this so much. Would love to see a little more depth to the technical aspects of how these people create content.
This is great! I’d love to see Russ from retrogamecorp in this series.
This series is GREAT. More please!

YES! So excited that my boy got featured on The Verge!
Love this series already. Keep em coming!

this was awesome! can't wait for the next one
Amazing idea for the series!
Amazing series Becca!
SO Here for this series! Gerald Undone would be pretty cool. Jacque Slade would be dope too. Someone I'm sure many don't know but would be cool too is DamiLee!
maybe Jacque can help me with my shoe game while im there 🤞
What a great idea for a series, definitely looking forward to more!
This was fun! Can't wait to see what's next in the series
Cool interview. Thanks for sharing Matty!
Cool. Thanks, Becca!!!
Great start to the series! Can't wait for more!
Editing while filming is insanity 😂
Great series! I'd really like to see lesser known creators though, maybe people under 10k subs to help elevate them
noted!
That was fantastic! He is great and you told his story well.
How about Johnny Harris or Phil Edwards. I haven't seen a studio tour of theirs.
Great video - thank you
Go Becca, I absolutely love it.

Next episode idea: how does Jake Carlini put his videos together?
Fun! Looking forward to more in this series
more to come!
Awesome show! A bit unorthodox suggestion but Jason Pargin makes some trully unique commentary content and it would be interesting to see his process.
It was great thanks !
Great vis. What camera is he using?
I would love for you to talk with Adam Savage. When I think of creators, I think of him
Great video! Please do:
-MKBHD
-JerryRigEverything
-MrWhosetheboss
9:08 so cool to see the BTS of a fellow creative 🤩 I say "Jesse Driftwood"// "Johnny Harris" // "Project Farm"
Great concept. Great first episode. Wish list: Sean Evans - Hot Ones
Becca is the Messi of The Verge
I have never heard of this guy. He makes Chindogu! That's really fun.
great idea! keep them coming pls
Really liked it
Would love to hear about creators that choose not to be on the internet, and yet achieve some level of success. Does that even exist?
Excellent. I would interview Taryl Fixes All.
This great bud🎉
Cool concept Becca!!
