It would make perfect sense for him to mention this now, reintroducing this storyline to the viewers, considering that Macy's return is only a few episodes away. And Ridge losing his wife would have been a good cataIyst for Thorne to start reliving his own loss.

We have seen a lot of her mourning Macy's death since, but it was strange that the show didn't focus more on her at the time, instead choosing to let a secondary character like Kimberly be the main focus of those episodes. But this is a minor thing compared to how the show will write Macy's _actual_ death. Now that is, hands down, the worst written character death in the show's entire history. It's like one day she is gone and the writers just add a scene that goes "oh by the way I heard Macy died" and then everyone forgets she ever existed. Even if the writers wanted that death too to be left ambiguous, they could at least have had a goodbye scene with Sally and Macy.

Being married never before kept him from doing that, when he had been unhappy with the marriage - and nowadays he doesn't really have much of a marriage anymore either.
