Agree that the things he has said about Nebraska have never been biased or persuaded by emotion but rather just an honest look at reality.

    The more I listen to and see Matt Rhule the more I like the guy. He seems open and transparent about the program’s issues as well as general college football issues. He also seems like the kind of leader young kids will follow…almost makes me want to drink some Husker Kool-aid…they’ve been bad for a long time so I’m rooting for him. It would be nice to have them back in the picture again as a team to root for, regardless of wins and losses he gives off a positive / genuine vibe that I’d consider sending my kids to school there…he’s a walking , talking college brochure! Nebraskans should be proud with how he’s handled things so far…now he just needs a few wins and that fan base will go nuts!

      Sorry it'll never happen. They can't recruit texas anymore. They never could beat michigan ohio state. The conference is tougher yet. Look at their schedule this year. It's very easy. They're not hardly playing any good teams at all in the conference. There's no excuse why. They can't win eight or nine games this year against a week schedule. If they had michigan scheduled, they'd be lucky to win six games. How can you have a true champion in the big 10? When you don't play nine other teams makes no sense

  • @GamaGamer1
    @GamaGamer1 3 месяца назад +31

    For all of the years I watched coach after coach come through, I have heard every manner speech and tone.
    Scott Frost was always on the back foot, he was always trying to garner excuses/sympathy for the most recent failure, and never once did I feel like he was looking any further than just the next week. Pelini was bearing the weight of having to try and recover a legacy that was long gone.
    What sets Rhule apart actually seems counter intuitive, but it has me incredibly optimistic, like I haven't been before. Rhule is the first coach in my adult lifetime to talk about the players as people, as professionals, future fathers, employees, etc... over the wins. There is a care, and a sense of collectedness that was altogether missing previously. From there you can build a culture like we haven't seen before. In a way, making the program about the players first, and letting the wins follow, has been the key.
    For so long this state has been so desperate for wins that it has failed to try and make any cultural competitive advantages, and we've tried instead to hire desperate homerun swings like Frost. Rhule put it best himself, he started with the foundation. Nebraska is not going to have more money, more attention, or even frankly the environment to be a passively attractive spot for recruits, but if you show a world-beating culture, that can more than compensate.

      As a Nebraska fan, that’s not how as a broadcaster, I would classify Joel talking about Nebraska. I got the impression that even though NU was a big rival to him (naturally from being Colorado’s quarterback and going 1-2 playing against NU around 20 years ago), he has generally seemed respectful of the program. I may not have been a big fan of Joel when he was a buff quarterback and NU lost, but I am a big fan now. I think he was an excellent quarterback and as a broadcaster he has excellent insight and good perspective on his games, better than most.
      But if you’re aware of CU history, you might be able to say he probably really did dislike Texas back then around 2005.

      lol.. too bad the money nebraska is shelling out for these interviews isn’t working or convince the intended audience. once again the only people naive enough to believe this stuff is of course their own delusional fanbase. These kinds of interviews are not initiated by outside sources. these interviews are being bought and paid for by Nebraska to try and fix their image, and get the narrative back. for that to be possible tho you can’t field a team every year that is a complete embarrassment to the sport. which is all they’ve done for a decade

      Dylan wanted to commit to Neb in the spring of his HS sophmore yr. But Frost blew off Dylan's announcement party, so Dylan opened his recruitment. Committed to The Ohio State, then Georgia but his heart was still in Neb. He remembered going to NU games as a kid and seeing the Tunnel Walk. Neb changes coaches, Dylan swoops in at the last min and signs with the Huskers (after a heart to heart discussion with Rhule about signing for the right reasons). There was no hiring his uncle to get Dylan.
