You forgot to mention the foil packaging....Corn Pops was the only cereal I've had that used to come in a foil bag instead of plastic. I always wondered why.
“Unlike the vast majority of breakfast cereals, Corn Pops in the USA had been packaged in a foil-lined bag until the mid-2010s. This helped to prevent the Pops from going stale and from secreting a sticky substance that caused the corn pops to stick together (a problem caused by the method by which the cereal is processed). Honey Smacks, another Kellogg's puffed grain cereal, used the same bag Corn Pops used. However, the Canadian version of Corn Pops had long been packaged in a standard plastic cereal bag, now used for American pops as well.” -Wikipedia
Walmart just released their limited edition fall flavor kettle corn pops, they look like these same molding and mouth feel they're slightly darker with less yellow food coloring and more of a golden hue. I love kettle corn and these have similar flavoring notes of a bag of generic kettle corn sweet and salty with a slight glazed crunch
Sugar Pops Pete is 100% most OG Corn Pops mascot, shame he couldn't hold his place on top of Corn Pop's mountain. And I'm with you on them being as a hand snack than actual cereal, still enjoy them.
i remember that commercial at 2:30 they ran that commercial over and over on nickelodeon back in the 90s... so much to the point that i remember it 20+ yrs later.
Thanks, Jennifer! There's so much great cereal brand history. I feel like these days cereal advertising isn't as strong as it used to be. So many classic ads and mascots from the past though.
Those cearl peices are getting pourded into the bowl slowly while the cearl time theme song plays and that cearl time logi is that bowl with a spoon in it.
Sugar Pops Pete lasted longer on the snack-pack trial-size boxes than on the full-size boxes. I remember seeing him in the early 70s and wondering who he was and why I didn't know him.
We always just called it Sugar Pops .. and totally delicious . with or without milk. On my list to this day of top favorite cereals ! We didn't get to eat it for breakfast though... It was a treat .. a dessert .. not breakfast ...
well, the reason why woody woodpecker is not the corn pops' mascot anymore because in 1958, kellogg's did not have the rights of woody woodpecker anymore. then, in 1972, his show was cancelled. but i do not renember watching The Woody Woodpecker Show on Saturdey Morning Cartoons or something like that.
like daniele said the shape diffrence but is there a flavor diffrence i know down here we have cinnamon pops but is there diffrent flavor varities in the us?
Unfortunately, Kellogg's Corn Pops isn't as good as it used to be, ever since they switched from the foil bags to the standard plastic ones. Lots of small hard pieces and they don't taste as sweet as they used to.
IAmTheOne The ingredients certainly have. Corn Pops used to be made of milled corn but now they include wheat starch. Since 2007, Kellog's have been using Coconut Oil in their Corn Pops. When ingredients change, the taste tends to change too.
This used to be one of my favorites as a kid. But it’s the only cereal I loved as a kid that I can’t enjoy now. It just doesn’t taste as good for some reason, which is a shame. Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks and Crunchberries all still taste great, but Pops ruined itself some how.
I seem to remember losing interest in this cereal somewhat once they switched to the ball shape here, as it kinda hurt my gums sometimes. (or is my memory messed up? Did we ever have the flatter shape in Canada?)
I feel like there’s some agency I need to report people to that fill their shelves spine in. I can’t hear a single word you’re saying while my brain tries to hide in fear.
Wild bill hick hot characters and woody woodpecker: 1951-1958 Sugar pops Pete: 1958-1968 a.k.a. One decade Wiper snapper: 1968-19?? Big yella: 197?-19?? Poppy the porcupine: 1980-1983
Virtually every Christian at some point has resolved to read the entire Bible. If we believe the Bible is the Word of God, it’s natural not to want to miss a word of it. If God delivered a letter to your mailbox, I am sure you would read it. But the Bible is a pretty big letter, and its sheer bulk is somewhat daunting, even to the person with the best of intentions. Therefore, few Christians actually keep a resolution to read through the Bible. At seminars, I often ask for a show of hands indicating how many people have read the entire Bible. Rarely do even 50 percent of the people answer “yes.” I ask, “How many of you have read the book of Genesis?” Almost everyone raises his hand. Then I say, “Keep your hand up if you’ve also read Exodus.” Only a few hands are lowered. “Leviticus?” That’s when hands start dropping quickly. With Numbers it’s even worse.
No the American corn pops taste wayyytty better. Trust me I lived in both countries n after coming to Canada n eating corn pops I was rlly disappointed
We used to have the round crunchy ones in Australia when I was a kid but for some reason they stop selling them here about 15 years ago I have no idea why they were my favourite cereal
I'm from the U.S. I feel like they were flatter (still oddly shaped) and a little more dense. It might be a total false memory though so take with a grain of salt.
Kelloggs just ruined my life... R.I.P. Corn Pops😭🤬 updated to a more sugarry version, like these kids need more sugar I bought last 12mg Family Size R.I.P. Corn Pops... they overdid it.
Anyone eating this cereal while watching this video or is it just me lmao ^-^

I LOVE this channel! Thanks for creating it. I will tell my Marketing students about it as there is a lot of great brand and advertising history here.

Yooooo! Big ups to you for having that Internal Affairs CD! I love that album!!
Those cearl peices are getting pourded into the bowl slowly while the cearl time theme song plays and that cearl time logi is that bowl with a spoon in it.
I eat them as a dry snack
Not me crying as he openeded the box with poppy the porcupine on it 😭
I remember my old man used to mix sugar pops with total; and me doing the same.
I love mixing cereals!
great video, how are they made?
Corn pops are different in Canada . They have a more round shape and darker colour .
Still love Corn Pops!
Sugar Pops Pete lasted longer on the snack-pack trial-size boxes than on the full-size boxes. I remember seeing him in the early 70s and wondering who he was and why I didn't know him.
That’s a lot of bad dudes.
I don’t know why but I just love pops
I'm surprised I overlooked this old cereal.
I thought they changed the formula
How fitting you pulled Detroit Tigers legend, Jack Morris! He was the only 84 Tiger that should have made the Hall of Fame and was robbed!!!!
My all-time favorite cereal.
Corn Pops should do a commercial with capcoms monster hunter featuring the gunlance and the mighty corn popper. It’s an in game weapon check it out.
GAWD! I love this cereal! My mother bought me 2 FAMILY SIZES of POPS cereal and I finish one in a day lmao!
Look I know it's 9 years later... But why did they discontinue them from the UK and Ireland?
Great video. Surprised you didn't touch on the shape difference between the American and Canadian version of Corn Pops.
This is awesome and i am America and Canadian
forgot about this cereal
ate it sometimes as a kid
We always just called it Sugar Pops .. and totally delicious . with or without milk. On my list to this day of top favorite cereals ! We didn't get to eat it for breakfast though... It was a treat .. a dessert .. not breakfast ...

Kellogg's stickier answer to Kix. Still like it.

like daniele said the shape diffrence but is there a flavor diffrence i know down here we have cinnamon pops but is there diffrent flavor varities in the us?
***** Don't know, I've never had American corn pops.
Kellogg's website only features 8 cereals in its dropdown menu, and Corn Pops isn't one of them. What gives?
Unfortunately, Kellogg's Corn Pops isn't as good as it used to be, ever since they switched from the foil bags to the standard plastic ones. Lots of small hard pieces and they don't taste as sweet as they used to.
don't you think the flavor changed since the 90s?
I do
IAmTheOne The ingredients certainly have. Corn Pops used to be made of milled corn but now they include wheat starch. Since 2007, Kellog's have been using Coconut Oil in their Corn Pops. When ingredients change, the taste tends to change too.
yes pops taste like crap !
They got a bit sweeter.
I think they used to be a lot sweeter.

Is it me or did they recently just made them even better? Like a hint of honey or something. 🤔
Tell me what is in this stuff !!
Don't really like this cereal, but it came with the kellog's cereal pack and I am stoned, so I guess I will have a bowl

President Biden said Corn POP was a bad dude. Lmbo. My guess is the guy with the yellow hat Corn pop that is.
What the hell were the 3 point Corn Pops?
The commercial with the Wild Bill Hickok actors was innocent at the time but creepy in retrospect.
Corn pops in Canada is round and doesn’t look like that at all.
I cant eat corn pops the doctor said corn pops effect my stomach
the corn pops i had were always little balls and not the flatter varieties
+Commandos12 Are you from Canada? Or somewhere other than the US?
+Cereal Time TV yup I'm canadian :D
Commandos12 i'm American and some of the pieces are shaped like balls in my Corn Pops
I'm from the U.S. I feel like they were flatter (still oddly shaped) and a little more dense. It might be a total false memory though so take with a grain of salt.
They don't look the same now, smaller, probably less sugar glaze, and as some have mentioned, where's the foil packaging.
😉😉Gotta have my pops 😉😉

Eating a bowl n learning

Kelloggs just ruined my life... R.I.P. Corn Pops😭🤬 updated to a more sugarry version, like these kids need more sugar I bought last 12mg Family Size R.I.P. Corn Pops... they overdid it.
