I've just shot a video of the EV6 (IONIQ 5's Brother/Sister), will be out early next week I would imagine. Both great cars but perhaps the IONIQ 5 just shades it for me.
Excellent video summary- I totally agree. As I’ve had a Project 45 Ioniq 5 for 14 months. I enjoy the performance, range, speed of charging & comfort. Im interested in the N model when available. Keep up the reviews.
Really good honest review, great car to aspire to but am sure you will agree we need more affordable EV cars out there, always thought Teslas were 90s looking and not in a good way you cant say that about this car. Well done again!
I've had one 2 weeks now: superb car. Great road tripper - almost charges too fast, as all times I've had to on Rapid Chargers it's finished charging long before kids have been fed and watered. First world problems.
Haha love this! Do you have battery conditioning option? I got worried hearing the models without it are slow to charge even when they say it has super fast!
Picking mine up this Saturday. It's a 72 plate ultimate in Gravity Gold Matte. Because it's an approved Hyundai car it comes with a full 5 year Hyundai warranty, which is brilliant, plus the remainder of the battery warranty ( 6 1/2 years) Really looking forward to it Have to disagree with your comment on the drive selector . Turning it backwards to go backwards and forwards to go forwards makes more sense to me 😂
Absolutely awesome car. That drive selector does my head in on every car I’ve had it in though. I’ve been driving auto for years and it just seems counterintuitive to me.
Got mine coming Monday (ultimate with tech pack) cannot wait, never been so excited for a car. To me it's easily the most stunning car on the road, ICE or EV. Love the Matte finish, but the stress of keeping it scratch free puts me off.
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru Blast… I saw plenty of deals, but when I put in my £2.5k max upfront, they all disappeared 🙁. Hetty’s safe for a while yet then … ☺️
Do you think the SE connect version is worth leasing? Best I can find is around £500, 3 months down, 10k for 36 months. They are offering the installation of a wall charger for the house too (all in).
I agree it needs a rear window wiper. Still, it's a real contender. My wife is growing soured on Tesla and our Model 3, and this might very well be its replacement in the future.
Class looking motor,Jim!Makes the Tesla 3 look like a 90's Mondeo. However the achilles heel of all evs is the asking price which will be out of most drivers price range.Definitely the car i want.Curiously,I saw a Delorean at a car event that had been cleverly converted to an ev by a wind energy company. The take off speed was phenomenal and ironically we had to queue to see the Delorean, whereas the supercars barely got a second glance.Maybe Deloreans were thirty years too early.Brings a whole new meaning to ' back to the future'
I've said it before Jim I know, but Hyundai and Kia are absolutely nailing EV design and tech at the moment. How can the Jag iPace hope to compete with this? This will even steal sales from Tesla, particularly once Gridserve have more of their large charge hubs with 350kw chargers, rolled out in the next year or two..... I personally prefer this over the Kia EV6, but hey, it's great to have these choices..... How does this stack up against the Genesis GV60 Jim?
Looks a great car saw it a few times in the flesh the next gen due out late this year early next has panoramic roof on higher grade and electronic rear view mirror so should be even cooler if that's possible
Another that made it on to my final three, but the service at my local Hyundai dealer was so awful whereas they made me feel like I was an inconvenience to them. I went to Skoda who were levels above in their service and answering all the questions I had. So the Enyaq was my choice based on dealer experience. I do like the look of the new Ioniq 6 & 7 so I will definitely look at them when my current deal expires it just won't be at my local dealership. Anyway great informative review again.
Dunno. I'm hardly rich but I've got a good price on a lease. About £80 more a month than a Tucson but you make more than that back in fuel and tax savings. I'm up about £50 a month, I've calculated. If you can afford a Tucson you can afford one of these.
Definitely worth doing the sums, petrol saving esp if you go a good number of miles, zero car tax and less frequent service/repair costs. Still far from cheap but now Dec 23 the used ones have come down in value a lot.
Had the Ioniq 5 for a month berfore issues with random alarms and 12v battery issues. Sadly, had to return it. Yes it is an impressive car, loads of space and super quiet. However the steering is very slow and not the most pleasent car to drive when you need to hussle along. Replaced with a Tesla Model 3. Okay doesn't have the space, but it's night and day better as a driver's car. Further, Tesla's software is second to none, backed up with a way more efficient battery/motor system. Everything just works. If you are thinking of getting the Ioniq 5, I strongly suggest you test drive a Tesla before making your final decision.
I’ve had both, not for ages but I prefer just about everything in the IONIQ 5 but am also a massive fan of the model 3 (maybe not it’s looks but everything else). Each to their own eh?! Thanks for watching.
It's subjective I know, but the Model 3 I looked at around 2.5 years ago, left me distinctly unimpressed. There was too much orange peel paintwork. Some of the panel gaps were quite poor. And once I got inside, things didn't get a lot better. Lots of scratchy plastic, with some panels quite ill fitting. Plus I watched Sandy Munro's RUclips video on reverse engineering a Model 3. He noted several example of poor design, due to Tesla's lack of manufacturing experience. The rear wheel arch was formed from no less than 9 separate stamped panels. Most other car makers would employ no more than 3. I went with a Kia eNiro instead, and still have no regrets over 2 years later.... A Tesla offers some radical solutions for some people, but they're not the Holy Grail many see them as....Some cite the Tesla Supercharger network as the clincher. But even that advantage is likely to be eroded over the next few years in the UK, with the likes of Gridserve and others providing charge hubs with charging speeds equal to, and sometimes exceeding that of the Tesla network.....
@@Brian-om2hh My 2022 Model 3 RWD came from the Shanghai China factory. After hearing all the horror stories, I took a two page check list with me for the pickup, but it was absolutely fautless. Maybe I was lucky, but what I read now QC has improved massively. All I'm saying is test drive before you puchase. I just love driving my Model 3, it still puts a smile on my face! I just didn't get that buzz from the Ioniq. Average consumption over my first 3900 miles 5.4 miles/kwh giving me a maximum range of 321 miles.

I absolutely love this car. Mad respect to Hyundai. I hope they never stop innovating.
👍
The design of the IONIQ 5 truly fascinates me. Whenever I see them on the road I always think man that’s so unique looking I love it
Same here, love it
I've been doing a lot of reviews of all sorts of EVs but I always keep coming back to the Ioniq 5

A most articulate and informative presentation. Thankyou, I’ve now subscribed….😌
Thank you I
Thanks for your honesty about the iconic5 wee need honest reviews
Always!
Great review on what seems like a great car, well done Jim. Hope Hyundai are watching and listening. 👍🏼
Thanks very much, it’s a lovely thing. Maybe they’ll let me keep it? 😁
I have one on order for the new year. Pan roof is available on the MY23 Namsan edition starting around £53k RWD and £56k AWD 👌
Ah! Good to know
Seen one of these in the flesh in same colour at a neighbours and it has presence. Looks futuristic and like a ballroom inside.
I agree 100%
As always a great honest review.
Thank you 🙏
Great review! And recognise that car park down at Longham!
Haha! I use that one quite a bit!
Hope you stuck to the ridiculous 50 on the spur rd , thanks for video, collecting mine in July.
Of course - and yes, isn’t it daft!?

great video and great review! love it! i wish the glove box drawer was here in canada, its just the open lid type. keep up the great content!
The glove box drawer is genius
This will be my next car for sure, just waiting for the 2023 version with the bigger battery and heatpump as standard.
You'll enjoy it I'm sure

How does the car cope with going up hills? Petrol cars I have had have always struggled including our Hyundai i20

Genesis won’t lend me one at the moment unfortunately but I’d love to be able to answer that Brian.

Great car
At £50K plus I don't think that many with families will be able to afford them or any other EV in a similar price range .
Mine can’t but there are plenty that can, they’re selling in their droves.

Several models of Hyundai and Kia electric vehicles are on sale. (Genesis) You can use an electric car in your own size.🚘
Yes
I'd stick with my id3 all day long thanks

@@DefinitelyNotAGuru yep, it really is great. And it is clearly the best value EV around with enough range.
