I like Sir Gilmore, and have been aware of the mod for him, and the other one that resurrects Mahiri and lets you use her in awakening, though I think that more companions is not what the game needs. As years go on I'm starting to like games with fewer companions as long as they are well written.

What mod or setting do you use to show the actual numbers in the power and spell descriptions? Is that part of Dain's Fixes?
By the way, huge fan of your guides!

It's a mod called Detailed Tooltips! Not sure if it also makes the changes from Dain's Fixes show up, but it's so useful regardless to help you understand what each ability ACTUALLY does.

@@btiermutineer Thank you so much for this info! The version I found of Detailed Tooltips is by Dain and has versions that include the changes his Fixes mod makes.

While Ser Gilmore is a likeable character (and personally, I like his little 4th wall break joke about the rats), I always felt (head canon) that Duncan would NOT have recruited him IF he got tested OR wouldn't have SURVIVED the Joining IF he HAD been recruited!
I tend to think that a recruit needs to have a certain physical toughness to survive the poisonous darkspawn blood, and a certain MENTAL toughness to survive being "linked" to the darkspawn. And Ser Gilmore seems to LACK the Mental toughness/ confidence to survive IMO.
Although, I DO think that is a clever & interesting Mod that was created. (for those who want him in their party)
Still, and entertaining video with an interesting concept.

Good point! Ser Gilmore is maybe a bit like Mhairi in Awakening - good hearted people and skilled warriors, but perhaps lacking that toughness to be able to survive the Joining. I really liked Mhairi in Awakening, too, and seeing her fail the Joining is always a sad time. The great thing about the mod is that Gilmore is just a regular companion since the HoF and Alistair don't know how to put someone through the joining, so he's safe 😂

@@btiermutineer You make a good point about too. (If he survives the fall of Castle Cousland, escapes & meets up with the Warden later, then he is simply a party member and not a Grey Warden.
I do remember another content creator speculating that maybe to survive being "plugged into the Darkspawn/ Borg collective" you need some external THING/ cause, to keep your sense of self. (So, MAYBE Gilmore WOULD have survived?) And that DOES make one wonder IF Ser Jory would have survived IF he drank the blood instead of panicking and getting killed by Duncan? (He has his wife & child's SAFETY to focus on)
