Hey man, that bass is absolutely monstrous! I love it! Also, I'm really sorry to hear about your dad man. Massive respect to him and you as well. R.I.P to him! Love your videos man, keep it up!
Nice build. I found this video after searching for videos with the Dingstrand/Nordwall pickups, and your project is related to two different ones I’m working on. The Dingstrand/Nordwalls are going into an old Ibanez BTB 4 that I just picked up on the cheap due to its electronics being fried. Along with them will be a DG Tone Capsule and a Dingwall 2x pickup selector switch (bridge, neck, both parallel, both series). The other project is a Gecko six that I have had in mind since I picked up a showcase body last year. It’ll have Rautia multicoil pickups and a Lusithand filter-based preamp, to go for that full on Wal sound. The neck is on the way, and I hope to have my own Gecko six project done in the spring. Nice video, beautiful bass, and damn fine playing.
Cheers man! The Dingwall electronics in the BTB4 should sound damn good. I've only played a BTB7 before, but I really enjoyed how it played and sounded even when it was stock. I'm a big fan of bass tones with a fair bit of high mid content, so boosting with the Darkglass preamp is great 👍
Thanks man! Only thing I'd suggest with these builds is set a budget first and factor in all costs. While I still got some pretty premium components, I'm still surprised at how steep the price was on a few of the components (eg. $105 total for all 6 tuners, and I got the Licensed ones which are cheaper haha).
First off sorry to hear about your father, may he R.I.P. Secondly!! thanks for showcasing the Dingstrand Nordwall Pickups!! I'm looking into getting the 5 string version in my Ibanez SR885. I love the way your neck pup sounds with the Neural DSP Parallax!! My band uses the 5 string bass tuned to Drop A for our 6 string guitar stuff, and I'm looking into getting a Dingwall Combustion 6 for our 7 strings tuned to Drop G.. put simply.. Dingwall and you have sold me on those pups man!! Great playing!! Nice Bass!!
Cheers man! The Nordstrand pickups all seem to be really good quality, as I've got some dual coil ones in my 6 string fretless too. The Dingstrand Nordwalls combined with the Darkglass Preamp has become my favourite setup by far! Would also recommend doing the series/parallel pickup wiring if you get the chance to, series mode is quite nice 🤘
Awesome bass, Tim. 😎🤘🏻🎸 I’ve heard a lot of good things about warmoth. I was thinking of getting an explorer bass kit from guitar kit world at one point. Especially since I’m a big fan of explorer styled instruments. I might get one. Or go with an affordable 6-string bass to experiment with. Other than that, that bass sounds killer. Especially with distortion.
Cheers Alex! I've only got amazing things to say about Warmoth. I've also built a Telecaster through them too, and even when I had an issue with a part (rogue tuner), they sent a replacement out immediately. I actually want to build another Telecaster but with a baritone neck, so I can switch the necks between the two builds with two different electronics setups. They're awesome quality, and they've got awesome customer service 🤘
Agreed, I use Series mode the most when tracking with this bass. Have occasionally done passive/neck pickup in some clips, but mainly use series/active 👍
Cheers man! The pickups will fit assuming they fit to the EMG45 rout standard, though you may have to ask Warmoth to enlarge the tunnel between the pickup rout and the back cavity (just so the solderless connectors fit through and you don't have to splice cables to get it to fit). I can't remember the size of the tunnel from the top of my head, but can look at it a bit later on. Warmoth are great with customer inquiries, so just flick them an email and they'll be super helpful 👍
Awesome stuff!!! Sounds killer. I have a question. I was looking at getting the tone capsule with these same pickups. Did you replace the pots that came with the tone capsule to concentric pots?
Cheers man! Tone Capsule is fully worth it. It comes with three 50k pots wired with click in connectors for easy install. However I bought a concentric 50/50k pot and a push pull 50k pot from Aguilar. All you need to do is cut the wires and solder them to the concentric one and it's done ✌️ didn't end up using the 50k push/pull on this build, but might add it to my 5 string at some point
Hey dude, what is that grid device in your left side of the shot, what is that a midi co troller pad? Just want to know cuz it loooks awesome and I want to get one.
So the one in view all of the time (on the top) is a DJ Techtools Midi Fighter 64. Its basically a MIDI controller that is just 64 arcade machine buttons in a grid. The one below it that is seen in the playthrough shots is an Ableton Push 2, which is a MIDI controller that allows me to fully control my DAW, Ableton

Cheers dude, it means a lot 🤘

Hey Tim absolutely love this video , so sorry to hear about your dad, I totally want a bass like this now

Great bass! I wonder how heavy it is, due to the walnut body.
Love your work Timmy!!!
Cheers bro!
Duude this bass is wicked! I'm digging it. I'm actually a drummer but your channel got me into guitars so bad. Cheers
Thanks man! That's awesome to hear 👍

That thing sounds really good in the mix for sure. Did you set it up solo?
Yep! So the neck and body were all premade by Warmoth, but I did all of the assembly, electronics, and intonation setup ✌️
Amazing work! I loved your video. I loved your bass it turned out amazing, the tone is great. Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱😉
Cheers man! Thank you from New Zealand
To me the series mode sounded better for the mix than parallel. Also the neck pickup on it's own seems fill the bass spot just fine. 👍
Agreed, I use Series mode the most when tracking with this bass. Have occasionally done passive/neck pickup in some clips, but mainly use series/active 👍
You make great videos.
Cheers! 🤘
These warmoth diy basses, do you think solderless pickups could fit? Badass bass btw.

Tim Murray this is genius. Keep up the great work!!!!!

What string gauge do you use?
For this I have a Long Scale Ernie Ball set on it, which is a 32 - 130 gauge set ✌️
Nice bassface
Maximum stank face at 6:45 haha
I want to hear you and a drum machine only.
