- This is 4th episode of our 17 day Coastal karnataka tour, We started this from Mangalore and went up to Gokarna and Yellapur.
This particular episode was shot on 29th November 2020, given below are the details of this trip.

Details of this tour given below:
Janatha hotel - breakfast - Gurupura, car street…This is about 13 km from Mangalore, Thuppa dosa with Goli baji at this eatery was very tasty, this place is on outskirts, if you are planning to go to NelliTeertha then you can travel from here.
Thuppa Dosa - Rs 20 per plate
Goli Baje - rs 10 per peice
After this we moved to varanga which is at a distance of 63 km from Gurupura
Shri varanga jain math boat ride - Rs 10 per person, this is a nice place , you have to do a short 5 min boat ride to reach the temple, which is in the middle of a lake.
After this we moved to Hebri which was about 30 minute drive from varanga… we had our meal at this small local eatery.
Bhatru hotel - Hebri - opp. SBI hebri
Meals - rs 50 per person
Badush - rs 6
Ellu juice - Til + coconut milk + jaggery
Kamabala - we were told by someone that we can see Kamabala at Varanga so we changed our plan to travel to Agumbe, otherwise ideally we should have gone to Agumbe from Hebri, as it was only 13 km distance.
We saw Kambala Buffalo race at Varanga this is held in the month of Dec and jan at various places in Coastal karnataka
So if you are travelling to Coastal karnataka during this time of the year and want to see kambala you can check about the venue from your hotel staff.
We stayed at fab hotel at Mangalore and reached our hotel at the end of the day, fab hotel metro heights near Mangalore central railway station.

Being kannadiga, I want to thank you from bottom of my heart for showcasing the beauty of our western ghats and our proud state Karnataka. Proud to say I am from western ghat area. Our malenadu and coastal places are crown of Karnataka state… we both share same style of food cuisines with little difference. Being malenadu person, I never miss my home food at Coastal Karnataka…Thanks once again for your beautiful video…..

I am a proud Tuluva, presently staying in Bengaluru. Nothing can b compared with our clean, pollution free city Mangaluru. The food, well mannered people, our Kolas, Yakshagana, Kambala, beautiful rivers, temples. We visit Mangaluru often as v feel homesick here.

In Kerala you don't have good vegetarian hotel as we have in Karnataka and Tamilnadu.

it is not just mangalore to udupi....even we have other places..it is from kundapur or baindorr to till kasargod...Baindoor - kundapur - udupi - mangalore - kasargod...in entire belt same tastes ...meanwhile it connects moodbidri - dharmasthala- subramanya - it is a total triangalur...But in udupi moodbidri and mangalore, u get great food...

Sambaar is more a colloquial term used outside Mangalore/Udupi belt. In Mangalore/Udupi is called as Koddel or Koddlu. The Gulla or Brinjal that you see is very local to Udupi & it may be primarily of two variety; 1. Perampalli 2. Mattu. Mattu is only available in Nov-Feb. Both tastes amazing in Koddel.

It was like taking a breeze outside while we are confining ourselves to home, these days. Enjoyed the dosa and all food items. Drone shots are good. Buffalo race was a different experience. After covid, please visit such regional celebrations, they will be really enjoyable. That way we will also know and plan to visit. Thanks a lot.
