    This one does take great photos for its size. I was positively surprised at the quality, especially after shooting video with it first.
    We bought two of these for a 360° video production and after trying them in the studio and on set, I have to say that they are NOT professional products for video. It's not just the poor image quality it shoots, reliability is the biggest issue. We had overheating issues shooting inside a climated studio after half an hour which get worse if you try to charge them while recording if you don't want to run out of battery after 60 minutes. The final nail in the coffin was both cameras failing to respond to input during recording on set where we only had one take to get the shot we needed (airplane take-off and landing). Big waste of money if you're trying to use this in any professional video capacity.

    Have you got any examples of how it performs in dark rooms? From past experience with any photographic equipment, it is rooms with dark decor /lighting issues that tend to have problems/noise etc. Sometimes with single shot 360s you are limited because there isn’t any practical way to add flash in that situation.

    Thanks for the review, it was very informative. I’m curious, do you use these type of cameras for your own business? Your portfolio is very impressive and I don’t see any obvious examples of when you would use this type of camera. It feels like you use a stills camera and maybe a matterport for 360 tours.

      Hi There, yes I use the Sony A7iv with the Samyang 12mm f2.8 fisheye lens for my commercial tours. I use the Insta 360 for smallest jobs with a lower budget and also holiday videos etc

      @robrunz 7 месяцев назад

      @@NickPowellPhotography thanks for the reply. That makes sense, as your work is stunning! I have the same Samyang lens but with my canon R6 it won’t let me bracket unless i adjust every stop manually. Does the same issue apply with the Sony or will the Sony let you auto bracket with that lens? I’m trying to get into doing 360 tours in the north west England but don’t know where to start. 😳

    Great video Nick. If you had the choice of the insta360 one inch edition or the higher resolution (72MP) but smaller sensor size X3, which would be your preferred?

    • @NickPowellPhotography
      @NickPowellPhotography  Год назад

      I haven't played around with the X3 yet, so can't really compare, however I suppose it depends how much low light video is going to be taken. If it is then the 1 inch sensor will be the way to go, and I always go to my manual mirrorless setup for higher res tours.

    Nice breakdown of the actual use for a workflow, we've been watching your videos since 2019 :)
    Great camera so far as an upgrade from our trusty old Theta SC2. We have noticed that there seems to be some leveling issues (possibly with the unit we have), even after recalibrating the gyroscope. These can be mostly corrected in the Affinity Photo workflow though. This might be a dealbreaker for us as we often have to batch edit for construction photography updates in large quantities and cannot spend 2-5min on each pano x100 every week. Have you noticed any similar issues so far?

    • @NickPowellPhotography
      @NickPowellPhotography  Год назад

      Thanks very much. I have noticed a slight shift in the verticals, however this is why I normally shoot with a light stand as it pretty much guarantees that the shot is going to be level. Unless you are shooting on sloped or uneven ground.

    • @NickPowellPhotography
      @NickPowellPhotography  Год назад +1

      Hi Patrick, I will always use my Sony setup for commercial 360 photography, however for real estate 360 and smaller commercial jobs this is a great choice if you want more control over your 360 images with RAW processing. Plus it has the added bonus of offering incredible 360 video, which can be great for social media content etc.

      @@NickPowellPhotography cheers, how's the images vs a z1? I'm guessing I should be using one of these for properties over my a7iii setup.

    • @NickPowellPhotography
      @NickPowellPhotography  Год назад

      I haven't used the Z1 enough to compare, however the resolution is very similar and the quality of the DNG files from the One RS are absolutely amazing. It's a definite contender, and it has better video capability.

    • @PatrickHobley
      @PatrickHobley Год назад

      @@NickPowellPhotographyIm guessing the video is a huge improvement to the Z1.
      How does this compare to the triso you reviewed. I know thats alot cheaper product but does the job.

    • @NickPowellPhotography
      @NickPowellPhotography  Год назад

      From what I have experienced with the Z1 yes, however Insta 360 are the go to for 360 video. The Trisio is a very different camera as it rotates to take the photos, so if you have moving subjects in the scene, this can cause problems, and the HDR is automatic and only JPEG outpost (albeit a very very good output).

  • @brianbracherphotography
    @brianbracherphotography 9 месяцев назад

    Hi Nick, I have just rewatched as I am getting fed up with connection issues with the Theta Z1 and not being able to have live view on iPhone when using the Duel RAW plugin. I have a project coming up with lots of locations that have a lot of small spaces and where it will be difficult for the DSLR / tripod. In your opinion, are the results from the RS 1inch close enough to the Theta Z1 to justify a change for simplicity and ease of use?

    • @NickPowellPhotography
      @NickPowellPhotography  9 месяцев назад +1

      Well if it is for still 360 only, I would highly recommend looking at the Trisio Lite 2. Unless there are going to be crowds of people in the 360 images. You can watch my review on my channel. 👍

    • @brianbracherphotography
      @brianbracherphotography 9 месяцев назад

      @@NickPowellPhotography Thanks Nick, I have considered the Trisio and watched your reviews, but I think the option to offer 360 videos, especially for 3D Virtual tours, means that the RS 1inch would be a more flexible option.

    Thank you Nick. Have you found any issues with Topaz products causing a seam in your tours when the panoramas are loaded into 3DVISTA? I've been reluctant t0 use sharpen and mostly use Denoise which includes a sharpening function. I sense the Denoise sharpening has a tendency to produce less artifacts.

    • @NickPowellPhotography
      @NickPowellPhotography  Год назад

      I haven't seen any issues at all when I have used Topaz Sharpen with seam lines, however I don't use it for 360 that often as I shoot with a Sony A7iv for my commercial work, so the images are super sharp anyway. You are right though, Topaz Denoise does give a good result as well. :)
