Gonna try this one. I have a blues deville 212 and volume at 2 is too loud for sure so gonna build o w of the as it looks easy enough. Thanks! Just saw jhs makes one called the black box and sell from $65 and up. So yeah I'm building this one!
hey, nice video! how important is the potentiometer value actually? I have a B20K pot, B50K pot and B500K pot, can I use one of these to build an attentuator? same for the jacks, do I need specific jacks? thanks for the help!
@@louisreed4992 if i were to get a 25k pot, does that mean, it can further lower the volume? WIth my 100k audio pot, i can only put it to 2/10 on the pot to get decent volume. Anything more than 2/10, the amp is still too loud. Would a. 25k pot be better so that i can go more than 2/10 on the pot for volume?
How does this compare to changing preamp tube to a 12at7 or 12ay? Changing the pre amp tube definitely looks quicker and only $10...and you can still use effects pedals off the loop.
You`re correct.. have done that mod in the past myself. 12AY7 V1 sorts the issue. V3 phase inverter factory 12AX7 can also be changed to a 12AT7 for a bit more clean headroom. Both great & cheap mods and work really well when both these tubes are changed out.
Ahh yes, I made a volume box like that years ago for my fender deluxe, I just plug mine into the loop too. Next time I have to pull it apart, I'll change over the liner volume pot in the amp, I forgot to di it last time
Not necessary, the drive channel has a master volume. The point of this is so you can crank the volume of the clean channel to break up and use this as a master volume for the clean channel because it doesn't have one
🥾STOMP THE LIKE🦶

Just get a lion tamer, passive volume module by dr. Watson. I got one, works great. It's a little volume pot attached to in/out jacks.
Works like a charm 👍
Well done... welcome to diy. Rock on!

You need an A pot (audio taper), the value doesn't matter too much for this, but 100k is pretty good.
@@louisreed4992 thanks man, how about the audio jacks? i got quite confused in the jacks with/ without grounding. which ones should i get?
Any 1/4 Mono jack will do.
