A few years ago, (4 or 5, I think?) I was prescribed 40 mg of Omeprazole daily. I had an upper endoscopy done because my stomach basically always hurts. The results were scarring on my stomach lining, I was told. Nothing conclusive they could point to and say, "This is the problem, this is the treatment". I've been taking the Omeprazole ever since then because if I don't, I get the acid coming back into my throat. I've read articles that say prolonged use of PPIs has some correlation with cardiac issues later on? I don't know the specifics. But there's also the issue of leaving the acid reflux untreated and then it affects the cells in the lining of your esophagus and it has the potential to develop into a cancerous situation. So it's a rock and a hard place, honestly.
Most cases like this result in recommendation for continued PPI use, because the longterm concerns of PPI use are not as bad as the effects of untreated esophageal acid injury.
You may need a change of PPI
Gastroesophageal Reflex Disease. There's a story about that name or diagnosis if you will. 😊
Has there been enough studies about GERD, to really treat it. It seems the same same same the past 50 years, same diagnosis. Always same PPI, when in fact they don't always work the "same". ENTs offer same same same, same diagnosis for everyone, when in fact the diagnosis is incorrect, so the patient continues to suffer.
You take to long😊 poke them first😂
IS SEPTIC ILLNESS BAD FOR YOU I MEANT ...
Yes, it can be fatal if not immediately treated by a physician in a medical facility.
