If anyone watching this video is interested, I recently created a channel called “QUEWBIE” which is short for newbie quilter. That’s me. I’m a newbie quilter. I had so many channel subscriptions and saved videos and playlists about sewing, quilting, and other related topics that I decided to create a separate channel to move, organize, and house them. I then made my channel subscriptions and playlists on QUEWBIE public for anyone else embarking on the same adventure. I’ve tried to organize the playlists into simple categories that make it easy for me and others to find specific content as needed. It’s a work in progress, and I’ll continue to add videos by content creators generous enough to share their knowledge and experience that have helped and inspired me along the way. Quewbie link: ruclips.net/channel/UC3QOgnuM0DhLLnxIaM2FxwQ. Btw, two of my favorite videos are under the “SEWING SPACES” playlist by Minki Kim who first shows her space cleaned up for her tour and then a separate video of what her space really looks like when she works. I think it’s realistic and relatable to anyone who sews. 😁✂️🧵💝

Hello Betty Lou.... Your video was wonderful... informative, relaxing and very enjoyable to watch. I am getting ready to set up my sewing room and this helped me soooo much. I, too, can only find the commercial 4 ft. table at Sam's. I was wondering about the yoga mats... do you know what mm (thickness) they are? I see they have anywhere from 4 mm, 5mm, 6mm.... one says extra thick... I am not sure which one I should purchase. Also, is there anything you would change at this point since filming your video that would be a help to me? Again, thank you so much... your time and efforts are very much appreciated. I still have to purchase my machine, but I am pretty sure that I have the one I want picked out... which is the Singer.. Quantum Stylist 9985.

Hi Tammy! So glad my video helped. As for the yoga mats, I recently purchased new ones that were a bit longer (72 inches instead of 68 inches). I think they fit better under the cutting mats. Here’s the name and (unaffiliated) link to the ones I purchased on Amazon: Gaiam Essentials Premium Yoga Mat with Yoga Mat Carrier Sling (72"L x 24"W x 1/4 Inch Thick) - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086XLLCM7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. They’re 1/4 inch (6.35mm) thick and come in 7 different colors. I then cut up the old mats to fit and protect other tables I occasionally use for projects. I still love my singer quantum stylist. It’s a great machine for piecing, labels, decorative stitches, and lighter duty projects. Not so much for heavier duty projects. For quilting, I ended up purchasing a Juki straight stitch (only) machine. It didn’t replace the singer quantum stylist because it isn’t as versatile. But it’s faster, more powerful for thicker projects, and provides more room for straight line (walking foot) and free motion (darning foot) quilting. It takes up more space with its large extension table, so I pack it away until I’m ready to quilt. No regrets. I love the Juki too. And I’m still using and enjoying everything else I purchased - the tables, the cutting mats, the cordless iron, the wider ironing board, the drafting stool, etc. All still highly recommended. My sewing space just isn’t as neat anymore. 😁 Thank you for reaching out!
