  • I've had a lot of questions about the course, so thought it would be fastest to respond to them in a video! If you've sent me a message and I haven't responded yet, I apologize, my inboxes are just super full 😅
Can't believe the video series is over and the course is launching in just a couple days!! Registration opens on August 23rd, but those on the earlybird waitlist will get the chance to reserve a spot one day earlier on August 22.
There's still time to sign up for the list! www.arrangingforharpists.com/course
    00:00 Intro
02:22 Is the course for beginners or advanced students?
03:01 Do You Have to Read Sheet Music?
03:30 What the Course Is NOT
03:55 Is the course for lever/pedal harp?
    04:24 What if I don't play harp?
04:43 Do you have to be in the US/Canada?
    04:50 What will it cost?
Plus a couple other questions I wasn't able to get into the video in time!
Q: Do you need to be in the same timezone as me?
A: No; most of the material are video lessons you can go through at your own pace, on your own time, and you'll have unlimited access to them. There will be a set of live calls as well which I'll do my best to accommodate timezones but they'll also be recorded for students who can't attend live.
Q: Is the course only for celtic/folk music?
A: No! I tend to focus on folk music as a place to start because the songs are a simple place to start, but the concepts in the course are applicable to really any genre; myself being a case in point, as I've got pop, rock, movie, and video game tunes on this youtube channel just to name a few.
If you've got more questions, leave a comment and I'll do my best to get back to you ASAP!

Thank you everyone who has watched this video series! I hope it's been helpful; in this last video I wanted to answer some of the most common questions I've been getting about the course. There's also a couple that didn't quite make it into the video:

I've had this series on primarily in the background, due to not having a harp. I personally felt that most of the steps would actually work well for arranging into any instrument, though the finesse of each step would be dependent on instrument. Particularly piano, xylophone or any other instrument where each note is its own physical thing and two hands are used to play them would be able to follow harp's steps almost verbatim, but the broad ideas of the simplify and experiment steps should be applicable to woodwinds, brass, guitars, anything really. Maybe not vocals though since that's tied to musculature?
Of course, taking the course itself I don't see being as valuable as the video series thus far has been for the non-harp instruments, as I expect the course to get even deeper into the nitty gritty of harp-specific knowledge. For me, the largest barriers are 1) not having a harp and 2) not being able to read sheet music, but I expect this to be helpful to a lot of people regardless.
