"Wasting Police Time" Humza Yousaf's New 'Hate Crime' Laws Blasted By Scottish MP

- A Tory MSP has threatened legal action against Police Scotland after the force logged a social media comment he made as a "hate incident".
Murdo Fraser likened identifying as non-binary to identifying "as a cat", in relation to Scottish government equality policies last November.
Police decided no crime had been committed after a complaint was made.
However Mr Fraser has accused police of acting unlawfully by recording it as a hate incident, and his complaint comes ahead of new hate crime legislation taking effect in Scotland from 1 April.
TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan and Alex Phillips are joined by Mr Fraser who says Scotland’s new hate crime act is wasting police time, insisting "none of these complaints are being taken forward but the police have to spend time investigating them.”

I spend many years in different parts of Scotland and never witnessed any hate, sure the occasional anti-English Jibes but never hatred. I did once in my ignorance once wear a green suit to a wedding on Orange Day and had to go change but that was it. The Scots are a great people with a great if sometimes dark sense of humour. I am just surprised that they are putting up with this garbage.

If a member of the public is found to be wasting police time, then they will be sure to face serious consequences. Should that not apply to Mr. Yousaf and his cabinet? .. I’m sure there will be consequences when somebody suffers injury or worse because the police are not responding to incidents they should be responding to; and, in my opinion, can’t do so, because they’re trying to cope with laws that are insanely stupid and unenforceable!.

Who can protect us from these people, North and South of the border. How is it possible to make ‘HATE’ a crime? Hate is a feeling, not an action. It seems to me that when politicians are elected the ruling party can introduce any domestic criminal legislation they like, without any recourse to the electorate or courts of the land. I'm from Mexico, I lived for 5 years in London, and I visited Scotland many times. After the first time in Scotland I was in love with the beautiful country and the nicest people.
