      @@readingwkatelyn I'm up to 208. It had been very slow. Does it pick up? What did you think of it at 208?

      tbh i was hooked the whole time! it wasn’t as addicting as Divine Rivals for me though.

    I think the biggest disappointment was enva being good. From the first book there were breadcrumbs and foreshadowing that enva was the villain and dacre was the hero.(like saying myths werent accurate/enva forcing forest and other soldiers to war using magic music/enva being a vile evil psychopath who doesnt even help the people she forced to war.enva was as selfish as dacre and both were willing to let people die. I mean the groundwork was THERE.that iris and roman have to team up to kill evil enva and enva being evil plottwist)) but like showing enva as good ruined the book for me

      that’s true! it was kind of confusing the stuff with the gods & the contradicting legends about who was good or bad

      @readingwkatelyn i think ruthless vows was disappointing in that aspect,it would have been muchhh better if ;
      A) let the war instigating parties backstories/reasons remain ambigious and instead focus ONLY on iris/roman/forest/soldiers etc. Cuz those parts were the best
      B) edit to write a much better story portraying enva as a good person(cuz right now enva was written as a selfish,war monger,who forced soldiers to fight with her magic singing and didnt even help in the battle.she didnt care about mortals dying and only cared for herself,she was selfish and conceited.literally the worst and most annoying character(i HATE how they glorified toxic,evil,vile enva in the story)
      C) THE best solution.do a plot twist where enva was the actual evil one(as hinted by the myths in the first book) and dacre was the good guy. Or both are evil and now iris,attie,roman have to kill them to save the world.
      Like they had 3 great options and still managed to go for the worst ones.like were the editors sleeping,how could noone point out the obivious flaws in the awful canon ending. I mean if they couldnt write a great backstory then option A would have been the best one!!

      for sure! it would’ve been more interesting to get more on the gods or instead on the main characters. the god aspect felt kinda underdeveloped. it was weird seeing how Enva wasn’t even involved in the war & no one even saw her. a plot twist would’ve been crazy & very interesting. overall though i loved iris, roman & the storyline it just could’ve been more developed with the gods.
