    As a mom, let me tell u why we dressed our family in similar color/tones, it’s because Malay families tend to be large in numbers and when they mingled in the crowds of family members, kinda hard to locate each members by face and yell their names (tend to be noisy when all people mingled). Moms will dress everyone in a color coded themes so it’s way easier to locate each members when it’s time to leave 😁

    this year Raya is chaotic because everyone was so confident Raya is Selasa since it has been 20-30 years like that. I remember during childhood in 90s we prepared early on 29th Ramadan then wait in front of TV for Raya announcement together with whole family in Kampung. So Raya tomorrow or next day wont be much different.
    Selamat Hari Raya Blimey. Juro is a tanker. I salute her.

      @joey070893 Год назад

      True. I was born in '93 so I didn't remember if any of this had happened before bcs I started fasting in 2000. But every year my parents always reminded us to prepare everything on the 29th of Ramadhan in fear of early Syawal but as far as I could remember it hadn't happened in the past decade or 2 so I was skeptical a bit every time. And lo and behold, it finally happened and glad we had everything prepared, just short on cooking ketupat. so it wasn't that chaotic for us as well.

    You feel the 2 atmosphere of hari raya. Leona's home was quite crowded as you can see her extended family and some friends came to visit at the same time. Plus the meal being served was buffet style. Hani's home was much more relaxed as no one had came to visit yet so you can get personalised undivided attention from her family, learned the culture of asking/ giving forgiveness, making teh tarik, taking family photos in baju raya, go house visits and the best part was the food is already being served at the table. I think these will the most memorable event for your Malaysian trip.

    just a little context. Zahir means something tht you can see. in this context, something physically. Batin means something you cant see. for example your heart, soul etc. So the meaning of Maaf Zahir dan batin means you're asking forgiveness physically and spiritually (emotions related).

    When we go back to our hometown (balik kampung) for raya, normally the aunts & uncles houses are also nearby. It's normal to visit (beraya) 4, 6 houses in a day or even more. At times, only raya time we managed to visit them. Even if each house serves similar dish like rendang, you have to at least have a taste to honour them and it might even taste different as each family add their own twist to their rendang. Sometimes we visit each other houses in the same day like my family goes to my aunt's house in the morning and later in evening, my aunt's family visits us back eventhough we already met in the morning. This is a tradition of visiting (kunjung mengunjung) family & friends.

    In my family, when we visited many relatives houses, we would only eat a very small portion of food as a gesture, though the host will kind of force you to eat a lot it's just a courtesy to us. We're not complied to eat a lot and it's really up to us how much we want to eat. Also in Malay culture it's considered impolite to make your guests still feel hungry after leaving their place. It's like you're not treating them with the best of your effort when they visited you. So it's better to serve more food than less food. This is a delicate and unspoken part of Malay culture in Malaysia that's very natural to most Malay households. Anyway I'm so happy that you could experience Malaysian Hari Raya celebration. Family means a lot to us so if they welcome you to their house it means they genuinely appreciate your visit. 😍

    As Malaysia is a multiracial country hence there are some interaction of cultural and customs among different races. The duit raya, balik kampung for reunion meals, the packing biscuits and also the fireworks firecrackers were basically influenced by Chinese culture customs which makes Hari Raya bustling with noise and excitement lively.

    First house you ate nasi dagang Kelantan style
    Second house nasi hujan panas.
    3rd lemang with ayam bakar ?
    4th what I saw lontong and laksa..
    Jika banyak rumah kena pergi..Korang kena makan sikit² setiap rumah..kalau ada 1 rumah sahaja..boleh mkn byk²..dan 1 lagi wajib dalam adat beraya ..hari raya kedua biasanya akan melawat kubur..arwah atuk² nenek² atau keluarga rapat..jadi dalam video ini adat beraya org Malaysia masih belum lengkap..

    There's one tip my Grandpa taught me, never take a day off for the first day of raya only go beraya on the 2nd day and above because during those days not all houses has a lot off food so we can go beraya to as many house as possible without being bloated. He's been doing this for 70+ years now and I'm followimg his lead it work like a charm 🤣

    on hari raya its normal to visit few houses a day and the next day they will come visit your house also.. Malaysian's family mostly have big family so its take few days to visit all family houses thats why we said 'raya kan sebulan' 🤣
    P/s : glad to see you enjoy your hari raya and experience proper raya. The salam raya, the visiting and fireworks. The very normal and proper way I would say. I want to get blimey sampul too😆

    To avoid getting choked by the baju kurung, I usually lift the bottom of the top past my bum before entering the car 😅😅
    And you have to eat wisely.. Certain foods taste better at certain houses (good if it's family so you know where to eat what 😅😅).. otherwise it's a good plan to just have tiny bites at each house you visit.

    • @jonmath4182
      @jonmath4182 2 года назад +5

      Yeah, you have to loosen your kurung top at the waist area by pinching and lifting upward your top at that area bit by bit, so when you sit, your pretty bum won't pull down your pretty kurung top and choke you at the neck 😬
      For the eating too much at the 1st house part 🤪 we have to forgive them because they thought they were only going beraya at 2 houses, only later they found out the number was gonna be doubled 😰

    • @cuclainne
      @cuclainne 2 года назад +1

      @@jonmath4182 There's nothing to forgive as I would have done the same 😂😂.. It is always hard to stop eating when the food is so good!

      @@cuclainne it is hari raya. We ought to forgive one another's mistakes and shortcomings no matter how protruding the bulges are or how soft the belly is. What we can do though is officially classifying this day as our cheat day

    That Raya night, I was holding daun ketupat, ready to make sarung ketupat when the announcement for Hari Raya was made. It was so chaotic that we spent the whole night cooking and everything. Then the next day, we convoy Raya until 11.30pm visiting 5 houses 😂

    What a wholesome experience, especially the Salam moment really caught me out, it's the moment where we confess our past and wrongdoing to our families especially to our parents and hoping those will be forgiven and that's where the catchy words 0-0 or kosong2 came from to describe aidilfitri as a whole, it's about celebration of giving and forgiveness, sometimes u will watch a telenovela either it's has a sad soapy ending or bad ending as well 😂😂

    seriously, all of you're really superb and pretty with baju kurung.

Like Nasi Lemak, Nasi Ayam, Mee Curry etc..not just Rendang and Ketupat😂, trust me, Raya month is a month you gain a lot of weight

    My trick is always to alternate heavy food btw houses. First hse, eat rice. Second hse kueh. Third hse fried mee. Last hse rice again. Only 4 hses per day.
