I liked the twist that after seeing the figure, a new list of rules had been unlocked as if it was a new chapter in the narrative. this definitely needs a part 2
OP is so good at following rules they get to level up.
This story had way too many plot holes, the characters sucked too. LHH has been missing the mark a lot lately
It definitely needs a part 2, it feels like the story hasn't been completely resolved, it still has more to tell
I'm a probie firefighter with Northen Arizona Fire District, currently station in a small residential area in the middle of the desert, a place called Valley Vista.
My station, Station 35, is an old rundown firehouse that creeks and leaks when it rains.
It's only me and an engineer out here. Usually once a set we drive to the next town, Kingman, where our main station is, and train with everyone. But other than that, we're out here, and it feels a lot like your story.
I'm actually on shift right now, listening.
Thank you for your awesome stories!
I've been to Kingman, and that seems like a very hot place to fight fires! Thank you for being a fire fighter! Please stay safe! If any ghosts or cryptids appear at your station, please tell us! 😊
Thank you for your Service
My grandfather and all four of my uncles were firefighters. I understand exactly what you do.
Thank you. ❤️
Thank you for doing what you guys do, you firefighters are a brave bunch. I just watched an online video them fighting a car fire close to some wood buildings where the car was being driven by a confused old man on a rim throwing sparks and it ended up exploding, twice. Only people anywhere near it were the firefighters of course 😅 everyone was ok, the cops dragged the old guy out of the burning car somehow unharmed with a flaming jacket. Old guy said “I figured I could make it home!” While leaving flames literally stretched across the ground behind him 😭🤦♀️
I bet hero
If there's one thing i learned from your channel, it's that if you get a list of rules, no matter how bizzare. ALWAYS follow them
Definitely 🤣
But ... Rules are made to be broken 😮
@@thelonelywhale219then you’ll be tortured by a creature
How the hell does it make sense to leave one person in the station ??
Yep I know 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ not me, nope no way in hell am I on shift alone in that fire station
I'm not an expert on fire fighting but I would guess you would only need one there at a time to take the calls, and then that person would contact the other fighters who are at home. I don't think the FF all stay over night at the stations which are in the countryside.
Unfortunately, you are correct. A firetruck is not manned alone. They never go alone. That the biggest plot hole with this story.
It's a volunteer fire department. That's how it works.
They aren't supposed to take calls after 2am according to the rules, so one is just incase of an emergency
Dude ignores the phone one time, then says “well I can’t just not answer it twice!” and then proceeded to go IN TO THE WOODS ALONE…. Bro had one job smh
saved the boy though, and even the vet commended him on his bravery. given this info, the new rules are probably there for self-preservation, but MC had protagonist energy for at least that one night.
Good thing he ignored it. It was a test and he passed.
@@Digitizeddragon I was not saying it was bad he ignored it the first time. I’m saying he only held out answering for one time it rang and then immediately answered the next one, when the rules didn’t say “if the phone rings once, don’t answer it, and twice go ahead and answer it” but then if he was supposed to save the kid, then those rules didn’t even make any sense at all
He also had that dog in him. His one job is saving lives and well… he did it
@@KillerBlaze he did. I’ll give him that. I guess my poknt is that there was literally no reason for the rules if nothing bad happened and the other guy was like good job 😂 the story was just not making sense to me.
So, he's new there and they just leave him alone at the station. Also, you can't look outside after dark, but you can go outside after dark. This story is reaching around everywhere. Then he answers the phone, after witnessing all he has and proceeds to break a whole list of rules. I'm in too deep to turn this off now.
Yea,this one wasnt the best. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LHH but, occasionally, VERY occasionally, the stories miss the mark
Sadly, this is one of those rare times.
The job of a firefighter is also written completely wrong too, There’s never just one person at the station at a time and you would never respond to a call solo
@@Antpoison, right. No firefighter solos a fire.
I got the impression that they were testing the new guy to find out if he would be an asset to the firehouse or if he would just end up as food for the fire-man.. the man in the fire. I imagine the actual job starts after the video. That's why no one would talk to him? They didn't want to get close to the guy if he was just going to get disappeared or eaten. Maybe?
@@Shay_Nessa yeah but then they’d just be putting their entire community at risk, plus the fact that you wouldn’t be able to operate a fire hose or most of the tools on the truck on your own but the MC did it anyway is kinda telling that the writer did not do his research into the job at all
There’s so many plotholes… a single man on shift in a job where 2 are always required, not wearing a breathing apparatus when going near or into a fire. The man not calling for backup. Nobody else being on call. There’s a few smaller things but these are the main things
The kid calling somehow.
Where did the kid call from? How did he do good when he broke so many cardinal rules? 😂
@@BorderLanderrfrom the middle of the woods lol
Author isn't a firefighter and prolly didn't look too far into what the job entails, it seems.
I started as a rookie on a county Department 8 years ago, I came in door with my certs already. I was placed in the center of the county alone. 1 manned station for the entire department 358 square miles,I did have some volunteers who’d show up, but no one stayed at the station with me. I’ve since moved on to a bigger department, but places still exist where it’s just one man providing coverage.
My town just got obliterated by the worst hurricane since Katrina‼️The news isn’t even covering it, if they are it’s downplayed. Thank God I still have this channel. It’s the only thing to help me sleep.. Pray for WNC/TN,GA,SC,FL
In my thoughts and prayers
Are you in NC? Sending prayers
Praying for those in WNC and those still without power, homes roads and worse
I’m so very sorry 😢
Our government and media is piss poor. I am sorry. All I can do is pray for you.
Still waiting on that award winning story of "I found a list of rules. It had a strange list of rules."
So, how did the boy call from the middle of the woods? Don't trust it.
I was looking for this comment.
Does nobody remember the concept of a cellphone?
The figure taking people for a ritual?
I think this might be fake :/
@@jaguarataktwitchdude1642 the boy was like 6 or 7 as they said, how many 6-7 year olds do you know that carry around a cell phone?
Me with no sense of direction gets this list.
"Always park the truck facing east."
Well, guess this isn’t job for me. 😅
Despite some if the inaccuracies in Firefighter Protocol (I have relatives who are Volunteer Firefighters) I am among those who would like a Part 2. The ending was intriguing. He broke a Rule but saved the boy and lived. It is almost like, yes the Rules protect you from the Haunting and the Entity but it also comes at the cost of people in the town. You don't die from breaking the Rules, life just gets harder because the Entity will hunt you while you fight the fire and save the Victims of its flames. An interesting concept not seen in a lot of these Stories.
I was rooting for him. Then he just had to be irrational 😢
I need a part two where the rest of the firefighters come around, slowly at first, and eventually they start breaking all the rules and take back the town.
I enjoyed this story very much. Happy the little boy is safe. Otherwise, it would have ruined the whole story. Can't wait for the next one.
The "little boy" is probably some eldritch abomination that will eat his soul later.
the end kinda sounded like he died when he ran into the creature and returned to the station as a spirit like the other spirits of the ones trying before him. like there were never other firefighters but rather the ghosts of the ones before him setting up the rules based on how they died.
I want this to be a Part 1, because there's so much more to be done to fight the fire entity.
ikr? this definitely has series material
The plot holes, inaccuracies, and irrational characters killed it for me.
When you see the man in the fire run... dude said Ok... Time to tackle the mofo...
Never said where to run or where not to.
@@selfishgecko2550 There was a HFY (Humans F Yeah) story on reddit that one of the HFY narrators voiced about an alien diner with a set of rules and a human went to work there, and just solved all the problems through being not afraid of stuff.
Soooo dude didn’t question how the kid called him from the woods 😅😂
Cell phone?
Is it really normal for a 6 year old to have a cell phone lol? But I thought so to afterwords
My Q is how do they all come up w something importantly personal to burn every single 1st of the month? Especially when the one dude was burning his wedding ring??!😮
@@AJMay7345 Exactly, aside from the creepiness of the town and fire station. Out of all the rules that one alone would have made me leave lol. Because, like how can you do that, what do you do when you run out of things lol?

I listened to a lot of creepy pasta channels but not one delivers like Lighthouse. The stories, the narrating, just brilliant!❤❤❤
Look into Jordan Grupe horror!! It took me a little bit to enjoy his voice because its different than this channels. But amazing nonetheless
. And a series you'll love & you can thank me later for is by Horror on the rocks, his mortician stories. One of the best series out there other than "Hollows End" & "The Silver King" by Jordan Grupe Horror. Try them out & let me know what you think!

@@devinvaldesalice7427 the production of his videos are certainly more polished now, then they were years ago.
You do the rules better than anyone out there!
I'm so happy to be here and listen to this awesome story while I do my homework. Thanks Lighthouse! I genuinely appreciate your narration.
A firefighter alone on duty? And responds to a multi-house fire alone?
He built different
Let's question that and not the supernatural entities and occurrences
@@Rogue849 supernatural entities are real, so should this departments procedure be.
Story needs a sequel.
I ❤ lighthouse horror because of the great stories and the incredible narrator😊. Thank you
HELL YEAH Rules stories are my favorite
These are the stories i love! Heroic stories of normal people overcoming nightmares. There is no greater love than to lay down your life. This is how humanity was always supposed to be from the start. Not this angry, hateful me vs. you society we have now. We need more heroic stories that pull at the heart strings and help people to remember.
the end sounds like he died and his soul returned to the firestation. and everyone he saw there was just the souls of the people trying before him setting up rules based on how they died to give the next one a chance to survive.
Burn something personal every month? For decades? Wiho has that many personal items? I've got maybe a dozen at most...
Just keep buying things and making them personal to you I guess
I liked the story, and the reading was well done as always. I dislike the trend of using stupid decision making as a plot device.
This was a particularly good story. One of the best in quite a while. The images of the figure in the fire were especially unnerving.
I want to hit the like and subscribe button but it has a strange list of rules.
❤😂😂❤
i would just take a picture of the brother photo with my phone, and then burning the real one, so i still had a copy of it
I love this channel! The voices, and the storytelling, is exquisite!! This have been my favorite channel for ages now!
Excellent story! You should post more!
I rarely leave a comment, but I should do so more often. Far from being horrifying, this firefighter’s story was absolutely inspiring! It’s an age-old tale of goodness triumphing over evil, and one mortal young man making all the difference in the world for an innocent child! Bravo to you, sir!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I enjoyed the story, but I've never heard of a firefighter going solo to put out a fire. It's almost as though the rest of the team wanted OP to fail
Greetings from Ghana... Yo Steven!! Where you been, Dude?! Haven't seen very many youtube uploads.
I want a rule based horror story where the mc is a stereotypical German following all ze rules perfectly getting angry whenever Someone even slightly breaks one
I would be so mad if no one told me to pack extra personal items. Like.... a personal stash of candy. Fun size. What if you packed light when you moved???
Just wanted to let you know, I got a 5 hour round trip drive every weekend and your videos help me stay alert and entertained without being distracted. Thank you for your time putting out all these videos!
U should try smoking crack, it will help

Oh I can't wait to listen to a new rule story
Easiest thing to burn is your socks.
You always need them and they are very important.
Plus you can always buy new ones and then they become super valuable.
Rinse and repeat
This was very good. Definitely a sequel if possible or maybe in a different medium perhaps?
I wasn't expecting that ending! You always keep me on my toes. 😱
He's specifically told the rules are more important and harder now it saw him, and he STILL breaks them.
The second I get notified of a new Lighthouse video, I stop what Im doing start listening and take my dogo for a walk!! Nothing better let me tell you!! Thank you lighthouse you made my night!!
I chill out with my cat!

I do the same when his videos pop up, stop what I’m listening to and come listen to his stories📻
@@edrozenrozen9600 awesome!! 😎
Poor doggo missin his walk for days, how could you Lighthouse?
Something was waiting for us to break the rules......So anyway I started breaking.
The right thing exactly when I needed it!
Please don't take this the wrong way (I live in big city) where do fire fighters fight fires alone? Is that a small-town thing? It was hard to get into the story cuz the premise unrealistic.
Ya don't respond to anything alone, minimum for an engine company is a driver and two certified firefighters.
they don't. anywhere that I know of. That said given the rules and all it's pretty clear they aren't operating as you'd expect a firehouse to operate.
If you willingly stay in a place called Devil's Pointe after receiving a set of strange of rules, anything that happens afterwards is on you.
Some folks in the comments dissing this story and saying that it misses the mark and that theres a lot of plot holes and that it's reaching... but I dunno. The way I thought about it was that maybe everyone is complacent with the rules, and maybe that second list doesn’t matter. Perhaps even the first, if he's able to go outside after dark, even though he's not supposed to look out of the windows after dark. It could all be rules based around centuries worth of fear passed down to person after person. All the rules seem all about ignoring the issue rather than tackling it. He's the first in who knows how long to question the rules, to break them, and not only that but he did it souly to save a boys life, not just out of morbid curiosity, ignorance, or arogance, like the MC usually does in these types of stories.
It's a short story. And stories are all about imagination. It's okay to not be given all the answers in writing, it's okay to read between the lines a little and infer. That's my take for the day anyway
-also, yes there should be two people on shift but yall this is a short story for entertainment purposes, and probably not written by a real firefighter. It's a story
Thank you very much lighthouse. Hope you’re having an amazing weekend. God bless.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It’s always a good day when lighthouse uploads ❤️
The author has clearly never been near a fire station. Park the truck facing east? But Chief, the bays face North. Why are they working 12's and not 24's or 48's? Why does your dispatcher suck? Oh wait, that's normal.
Finally another upload thank you! Hope you've been well!
Why would he head into a fire without breathing gear? Isn’t that like part of the uniform?
I want to know how this man took a truck alone to a defensive structure fire with exposures. Operated the pump panel and was on a hose line. Had no SCBA and when he lost the house and property just LEFT without even telling anyone or looking for an owner.
Nobody gonna ask how at the end Reynolds somehow already knew that bro had broken the rules?? I aint trust Reynolds
GREAT story telling!! Although to be honest, I really miss seeing you standing there telling the story
Loving the analog slight touch.
A fireman-priest could sure make alot of holy water.
I really like this trope of some kind of veil that once you've uncovered it, makes you privy to something you shouldn't have seen, making what was mundane before a whole lot different. Mister Lighthouse has a way of bringing these stories to life
My husband is a fire fighter, so I really enjoyed your story!!!
How did the small boy phone the fire department from the woods, I wonder...
😢😢😢 I know it's not just me missing him on camera!
I love rules stories I’m obsessed with them
That "my wife is peeking..." is truly unmatched....please bring back tales like that rather than srrange rules...
I mean they are good but they just don't resonate anymore...great content btw
No one understands the importance of milliseconds, more than a volunteer firefighter.
it's the amount of time they have between meeting you, and telling you they are a volunteer firefighter.
Rule stories are always awesome. Try to do more stairs in the woods ones if you can.
there should be a story where all of the rules are completely normal and related to the job but for some reason breaking them still has supernatural consequences. alas i am not a talented enough writer to do it myself
like they forget to mop once and boom. demon.
So I've been curious about the Good/Evil at the end of these stories. Do they signify which side wins?
Bro heard a phone call AFTER midnight....from a KID....in the WOODS...a kid who just knew the fire departments number and had a cell...
Always a good night when the Lighthouse team uploads! Keep up the great stories and excellent narrations!
Part 531 of thanking the lighthouse horror for the amazing narrations
Yes!! I look forward to these videos every week.
I ruined my RUclips channel with a strange set of rules.
I have a theory. A really really bad theory but a theory nonetheless XD
Nobody working at the station is alive. They all seem dead and i questioned how they could continue to burn valuable things after all this time. I think they're souls stuck in limbo and each rule is a regret they have or a fear left unconquered.
My ten year old son loves these videos we listen to them every night til he falls asleep
I don’t get it. He broke the rules and he did good. Anytime you break the rules there’s dire consequence but this story it was like he was suppose to break the rules.
Yeah it's because this story had so many plotholes it was obvious.
BTW...your gruff man voice is awesome. Same inflections but a different voice. Oh damn...you're a cryptid!
