Always did. Did it when I was in Asia. Still do it after moving to North America. Learned from my dad. He always tipped waiters. Not 15%or 20% though, he tipped depending on how good the service was.

I woke up Asian too but Im never ashame of the fact that im not good at math (which is also a stereotype) bc I wasnt born and raised in China so my parents and relatives never have really high expectations for me and I dont feel the pressure chinese peers get.

Even low end servers often make $20+ an hour because of the tips, it turns into great money if you move up to fine dining (think 70K or more a year). You really think restaurants like Applebee's, Chili's, or Friday's are gonna pay employees $20 an hour? Most servers who move to a "real" job have to take a pay cut when switching over.
Also, if you're truly entry level, you usually don't wait tables right off the bat, you host, bus tables, or wash dishes.

As for inconsistency, the good nights balance out the bad. $2 I can only respond with git gud or move out of the rural areas, $2 being "common" does not match what I saw (although it was the reason my sister would come back to Texas during summer vacation from college, she'd make more in the summer here than she did all year in Bama).

I embraced Asian stereotypes and used them against the offenders when I was in school.
My senior year of high school, math was one of 2.5 credits I needed to graduate. All I had to do was pass. I took Pre-Calculas, since it was the easiest math class available. I was in class with a bunch of jocks who always tried to cheat off of me (I'm of Korean descent).
The teacher once took me aside and asked why I would let them do that, since he knew I wasn't the kind of person to cheat.
I told him, "You've seen my grades in this class. If they want to disqualify themselves from playing, that's on them."
He allowed me to let them cheat from then on, haha!

Jimmy O. Yang is, nowadays, one of the best stand-up comedians. I appreciate the way he develops his jokes. Especially, the moment he starts his reasoning about the girl's, incorrect, assumption. He made it clear that this assumption is more or less a reasoning out of absurdity. This occurance makes it funny. As it is logical to think that intercourse is not influenced by race.
