Love this stunning buick, a real beauty gemstone and a treasure from the batcave 🦇 colour gourgeus motor powerfull and big thanks Jay grams president of volo auto museum from tom your friend now and always, say hello to All at volo cars, cool outfit you have on, 🧢 lets go for a spin with our hats on
Incrediblely beautiful Buick Skylark, Jay don’t ever apologize for rambling on, your excitement is contagious, your eye for great classics is becoming iconic. Like you stated who gets up one morning and says I want a 65 Skylark although this one is way,way above average, the restoration is phenomenal but I’m easy thanks for acquiring such a sweetheart.
As soon as I saw those Vent windows open(by hand), I was in love with this 65‼️Great color and a convertible to boot‼️✝️A+😉👍👍🇺🇲Made in USA by Union WORKERS‼️
Only the Gran Sport came with the 401 the correct V8 engine for a Skylark that is not a GS would be the 300 cubic inch engine or the 340. The nail head was only used on the GS option only. I would double check and make sure that that engine is numbers matching most likely it is not. Also it is very unusual for a Skylark to have hubcaps and not wheel covers or styled steel wheels. The Skylark was the top of the Buick A body line. The color is beautiful.
The 401 Nailhead was termed the 445 by the engineers because of the torque rating. If you look at the cross section drawings of the engine, the heads were an ingenious design. You've certainly noticed that the valve covers are level, not angled. Also that motor was featured in the Wildcat for a number of years.
Buicks really are the "Cadillac" of A-body GM lineup... They drive so much better than a Chevy... This one is very nice with manual trans and Nailhead engine... Allthough not as correct it would have been a real sleeper with a 400-430 or 455 dressed up in old school blue and old school aircleaner...
I read differently. My book shows 400 in 65 Skylark, 401 in other 65 Buicks. Internet says it had to be called a 400 because they has a 400 limit in a midsize. You are correct, the 400 that came out later is a different motor.
@@jaygrams5046 GS was a mid year 1965 option on the Skylark it was a 401 with 325 hp a Carter afb 4bbl carb. This info can be found in the Standard Catalog Of Buick 1903-2000. Pg 90

Strictly First Class in typical Volo fashion!
My wife had a 69 Skylark custom two door hardtop when we dated in high school. Had those same hub caps. Very nice car 🚗
Looks like someone cut the air filter lid nice job more power. 👍
This is much nicer than a chev malibu of the same year
Where is the gas cap located Jay? Behind the license plate?
I had one of these. The gas cap is behind the rear plate.
👍🔥😎🔥👍

pretty car
Truck Turner's dream car.
401 Nailhead was in the Skylark GS 65-66. The 400 was in the GS400 in 67 and it became its own model. The 401 and 400 are not the same motor.

What are the holes for in the dash underneath the radio?
I think they are for dash mounting screws.
@@richardmerriam7044 What are dash mounting screws and why are they needed? Thanks
@@mrknotthall They hold the lower part of the dash to the metal frame.
@@richardmerriam7044 Thanks but I've never seen holes in a dash like that.
