I hate to say it but I agree 100%. I was a 360 fan boy. I remember playing Skate and halo every morning before school with a select group of freinds. 360 nailed the comradery and first party uniqueness. Sadley since that faithful day (the launch of Xbox 1) they have only gone down hill. I have to be honest though as much as I prefer Play station and loved my PS4 experience I was coerced into Xbox series x this generation. If not entirley because the appeal of game pass and bethesda being one of my favorite gaming companies creating my favorite franchises, than because of availability of consoles and pricing. I wholey hope that Xbox figgures itself out and rises to the greatness we know they can achieve based off the 360 era. But I won't hold my breath. Great video brother! Keep up the awesome content.
I honestly don't know why AAA developers won't consider making their own pokemon like game. 😔 I wish Obsidian Entertainment would make their own anime-themed open-world creature-taming game with the graphics of Kena: Bridge Of spirits.
I watched your whole video and at first I was with you. Then in the second half of the video, you became full of shit. You clearly failed to do your research while doing your comparison, so I'll educate you so you can get your shit right.
First of all, this bull shit about sony taking time to cultivate its talent is complete garbage. Of the studios winning all those awards. The vast majority were acquired. Do some research. Naughty dog, insomniac, sucker punch, guerrila, bend, media molecule, housemarque, firesprite, nixxes, blue point, Valkyrie, haven, bungie. Each of these studios was bought and over time became a corner stone of Playstations gaming empire. The people who roast you for your video are going to roast you for being ok with Sony doing something, that you're giving MS shit for. Why is it they can invest ina shit ton of studios and reap the down the road success, but MS is brain dead corporate giant for doing the same goddamn thing. I try to give you clowns a chance when I watch your moronic videos, but you all make the same god damn mistake, using your bias instead of your fucking brain.
Then you go on about MS management structure. Completing neglecting the fact that the corporation consistently ranks as one of the best places in the country to work every year. You make a stupid ass comment about MS hiring friends instead of people who know what they are doing. Their new studios are literally headed by game directors who worked on very successful projects and are then staffed by devs who worked on games like The Last of Us and God of War. You'd know they are placing people like that in leadership positions, if you surprise surprise, did your fucking research instead of talking out of your ass. You talk about mismanagement, but fail to mention the commentary from devs acquired by MS who released great games the past couple of years. Who talk about MS giving them money and getting out of the way so they can make the best game possible. A structure that coincidentally lead to them being the 2021 gaming publisher of the year. Something else you didnt mention.
You leave all that out (I didnt even mention how game devs, including indie studios love game pass and how it benefits them) then go on to say xbox will only be around because of MS' money, after completely ignoring everything they are doing to try to improve. Then have the nerve to say give you a chance before telling you to fuck off.
If you are going to post a one sided slam video. They are right to tell you to fuck off.
I was a Sony fan before PlayStation existed.

My biggest fear is that Microsoft will destroy these beloved franchises that they are buying up.😭
Oh they will.
Those franchises are already dead. They needed call of duty or gta. But you're right, just look how they drove halo and gears of war into the ground
@firstworldproblems6064 , How so with Gears of War?, all Gears of War games including Gears 5 were perfect with the story and gameplay, the only thing that did suck was Gears tactics, however I will admit with Gears 5, the game lacks the heavy hitting guns or gore the Og Gears of War's did, also they need to fix a couple glitches including not being able to play non-splitscreen campaign multiplayer.

As soon as he brought up the exact moment that xbox screwed itself, i knew he is talking about e3 of 2013, before he even mentioned it. That e3 really killed xbox. They were so overconfident about kinect, they thought they could push the always online even if you bought a disc shenanigans on people and get away with it. @@yoced1468 there's just no appeal anymore. I play on pc and can play any game from any system. All Xbox had that made it stand out was amazing exclusive games. They don't have that anymore so to try and convince somebody to pay that much for one is a tough sell.
Tbh Sony turned the tables years before 2013. They released PS3 a year after 360 and still managed to beat it in units sold before PS4 and Xbox One were released. Both lost to Nintendo Wii tho.
as much as I appreciate game pass, I hate subscription service for playing games. you don't own anything, and people seem happy about it. If xbox decides to take a game off. that's it, you can't use it anymore. There are several games that I've been in the middle of and it's taken off before I finish it. As a weekly listener of Colin's podcast, you are absolutely correct. His Xbox takes are beyond ridiculous and way biased
I argue that the fall of Xbox began in 2010 with a little big thing called Kinect. Microsoft effectively stopped catering to the market which had made them tons of money to try and cash in on the Wii audience. This is when the meme of “xbox only makes Gears and Halo sequels” begins and also when Sony gained its lost marketshare. 2013 was just when the rot became noticeable on the surface.
Tell me you're a Sony fanboy, without telling me you're a Sony fanboy
Ah , the good old "calling someone a fanboy because you have no argument" tactic. Classic stuff.
His replies to some of the comments certainly confirm hes a fanboy
Hard to call the division that brings in 17% of your revenue a failure. What is even better, the XBOX brand went black to green money wise during the XBOX One era (2017 according to their CEO). The X1 sold closer to 60 million too.
The Series systems seem to be a step up IMO. They've sold over 20 million units in two years and XBOX is on the right path again, with a lot games scheduled for 2023. When it comes to Gamepass, Sony is doing the same thing with Plus+, aside from day in date. Funny how Gamepass went from "Unsustainable" to "We must copy it". 🤣

I find it interesting that Sony and Microsoft have essentially switched places. Sony has become less innovative and more anti consumer while Xbox has gone all in pro consumer announcements with some exceptions of course. It really shows that competition is always good. Xbox struggled throughout the entirety of the 8th gen and it showed Microsoft that no matter how big you are, if you go against what your consumer base wants, they will punish you.
Edit: I don't care about trying to prove which console is better because that's subjective. All I wanted to do was point out the flip that the companies have gone through since the 7th gen of consoles. Sony is currently top dog decent game lineup and solid exclusives. Xbox has no games atm but they do offer value in other ways such as gamepass and allowing games to be played across devices with their (still in development) Xclpud technology. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses. My comment was never meant to be another "Well my megacorp console has this!"

As a true Sony fan, I feel truly terrible for the state of Microsoft at the moment. I have all current gen systems including a PC and man I haven't turned on my series S in at least 6 months to a year. It's just sad to see that they're dishing out a bunch of money to studios and aren't sitting down and focusing on what they have and building up on it. Gamepass is great and all and I use/used it very sporadically but when I do I legit just play one game for a month and dip back to my PC or PS5 (switch is just buried somewhere also but I see more worth in that at the moment). They're just in a constant state of limbo. Me and my buddy played Gears which was a first for me and I absolutely LOVED every second of it. The most recent iteration just seems like a hollow shell of it's past self. Which could explain the current state of MS at the moment. About the Activision merge, I hope it goes through just so that games like CoD could also potentially return to it's vision from way back when. But honestly, if they do buy them, I just hope it's not the same dance we've seen with their most recent mergers...
@@CharlieD.706 Why?
Microsofts biggest problem is that their whole corporate culture is poison to creativity and therefore game development.
Sadly Sony is moving in the same direction since the PS4 era.
This is why Microsoft should make pc rather than consoles. The only best console they made so far is Xbox 360
I strongly agree with that. I think they would make really good pcs or at least GPUs.
Xbox has okay on their apps but their games suck
You're totally right, Microsoft stopped caring about creativity and put all their focus into profits. They forgot about the thing that keeps game consoles alive - games.
I too still remember those halcyon days of the xbox 360, where for a relatively brief period in time it was getting big action games, multiplayer games, Japanese exclusives, indy games and of course really out there games (for example, Deadly Premonition).
However with what Nintendo and Sony are doing with their consoles lately, and the relative success, I just don't see Xbox clawing its way back up now. And I agree, game pass is just about the only lifeline it has

Xbox's downfall happened ever since 2013, with that botched up showcase of their Xbox One. Thankfully, The Last of Us Part 1 and Bloodborne ultimately convinced me to switch to Playstation 4. And with exclusives like Demon's Souls Remake and Spider-Man 2 being released in the PS5, I have not regretted my purchase since.

This was a great video on Xbox's history and where it is now.
I was a major weeb as a kid, so i was mostly on PlayStation and Nintendo. But it was Xbox 360 that got me hooked on western games like CoD Modern Warfare 2 and Halo 2. It opened my eyes to a whole new genre and style of games.
But I felt the steam for Xbox left when they announced Xbox One (which we all thought would be called Xbox 720 back then lol). Its focus on tv and media, not games turned me off. So i stayed with Playstation.
Never bothered looking at Xbox again till recently with the Xbox Series S, which was ironically the only next gen console i could manage to get during launch 2020.
I think Xbox has a long way to go to ever get back to its glory days. You are right about the DBZ comparison, Xbox will never really be able to surpass PlayStation so I needs to just do its own thing, kind of like Nintendo. I think Game Pass is that thing. I love it. I've saved so much money. But you are right their 1st party titles are weak.
Halo Infinite was mediocre. But the their party titles in Game Pass day one do kept me busy.
I was just recently finally able to get a PS5 for black Friday and haven't turned my Xbox Series S on since then. But when Starfield releases, I'll dust it off.
I remember Xbox’s push for JRPG’s with tales of vesperia, infinite undiscoverey, the last remnant, Magna Carta 2 & more. And I bought all of them
as of western titles they do offer a lot of genres like AA studios, eurojanks, and CRPG's
Once they start releasing games that can compete with Sony plus have gamepass only then Will they be able to surpass them but it may take a generation like how they passed the 360 with the ps3 at the end of that gen.
Xbox can compete with PS as back in the 360 days they were far the more talked about brand. During Xbox one Microsoft was not funding them and has since realized their mistake and buying both studios and working on many exclusives. Their are by far the brand to be on for western rpg/fps/racing. Xbox has the better services and is working on getting Asian developers so I believe by the end of the gen they have the potential to surpass the Xbox 360 era. Another aspect they need to work on is language localization as that would help them grow
Yes i remember when we thought it would be the Xbox 720. I'll never understand why Microsoft thought it was a good idea to focus on television when introducing the Xbox One back then. That has to be the worst decision by a major gaming company.
Love this. You’re mostly spot on man. I’d argue their golden age was actually 2007 to 2010 (but that’s beside the point). All of this is the reason the only Xbox I’ve ever bought was the original because there were actually a lot of great games on it. After that, never really got into it because all the best exclusives were on Sony and Nintendo
Xbox golden age was 2004-2012
The 360 was awesome much better than ps3 was.
@@adrianwiles1 lack of exclusives and red ring of death says otherwise

The one thing that makes the Series X killer is the backwards compatibility
I literally wouldn't have it without that
Same, its the sole reason I got Series X at launch. Sure they had excellent backwards compatibility already with Xbox One X, but there was no reason to go for it when Series X/S became available, and since I never owned any Xbox One console it was high time for me to upgrade from 360. Playing any backwards Compatible game on it has been great even just for quick resume and non existing loading times alone, but its even better if there is FPS boost and/or 4K and HDR support
Way I see it, Microsoft made the same mistake at the start of the Xbox One generation that Sony made going into the PS3 generation: they let past successes get to their head and began to believe they could now get away with *anything*. Difference is that Sony learned from their mistakes fairly quickly and the PS3 became quite good in the back half of its lifespan.
Yeah, that's the big difference. Not only did PS3 become good but it was good enough to outsell 360 that gen, Microsoft's best and most successful console. This despite launching a whole year later, having a horrendous initial price and with a crappy launch.
@@ashleythomas4112 totally forgot it outsold them
3.2 billion per year for game pass.. That is JUST for GP not including games, it is definitely not a failure. And Sony buys studios to make the games, who cares if you buy a studio with a game or buy the "restaurant to make the game" or buy them with "pizza" already in tow.
Most of their studios made games for Sony before they bought them 😂 Sony builds actual relationships with their studios i rather work for a Sony Studio than a Xbox studio anytime

Great analogy...
A pizza equals a pie and they all want a slice of the pie but the pie tastes terrible because those who know how to make the pie good have left because those who bought the company/restaurant don't understand what it is they are now in possession of and only want people to buy their products, and somehow continue to misunderstand why the fans are saying bye instead 😂
The whole pizza thing ya said kinda sparked this lol great video bro 👊
Great video!! I do think you missed one major thing that everyone is calling the 360 the golden age. You forgot about the launch of 360 and the awful RROD issue that plagued the console launch massively. Microsoft always had a problem in every generation, they can never reach the heights of Nintendo or Sony. They lacked in exclusives then and they lack in exclusives now.
Facts - I like that Sony is willing to take risks, with games like Death Stranding. Oh sure, XBots called it a "Walking Simulator" (mostly out of jealousy), but it really resonated with people who actually played it.
10 million copies sold (and still counting), plus, a sequel game on the horizon, and now a movie coming out as well... and it's clear that Sony bet on something great.
But Microsoft would never have taken that bet.

@@KabbalahSherry speaking of taking risks, it’s funny because Xbox turned down God of War, Heavy Rain, and Spiderman which Sony took up and made into moderate to massive successes.

Instead they delivered it to Sony on a silver platter.
The only reason I still am a customer of XBOX is because of back-compatibility preserving nearly my entire 360 library, even if they removed the games from the storefront…that and the SeriesX is the best place to play Cyberpunk outside of PC.

@@EndymionTvHmm it appears you have some serious bias here, websites like Digital foundry regularly show Xbox games running better you can’t just hand pick 1 or 2 & then say “most”
@@EndymionTv I’ll give you credit for Callisto’s stability on PS5, but yeah, XBOX shouldn’t have bought all these studios, they strained their resources of oversight with all these devs that they didn’t realize they were hiding systemic issues before XBOX ever bought them. Take Undead labs and how State of Decay 3’s development has fallen apart due to staff leadership being called out from former employees to be verbally abusive and discriminatory in the workplace. XBOX is basically “what if the steam machine was actually good”.
I play Cyberpunk on ps5 and it runs fine for me. And I get to play God of War and Spider-man. (Sorry, just fanning the flames haha 😅).
Same, backwards comp and game pass is what keeps me in the xbox ecos. I couldn’t care less about exclusives or single player games, i stopped playing those after ps3. Also, ain’t nothing groundbreaking about ps exclusives either, but that’s just my opinion.
Microsoft should sell the XBox department to SEGA for the price of one Dollar.
It was also the fact that PS4 was 100$ cheaper than XBOX ONE... For casual players this is more of a reason than those exclusives...
This video completely overlooked Xbox's shift in business model vs Sony. You are absolutely correct that Sony has surpassed Xbox in exclusives and games itself but, that has been the same for the past 10-15 years. Microsoft decided that they can't compete with that and focused more on accessibility in games instead of exclusivity and you know what, that's not a bad thing. One thing that was left out is how bad Sony pushed back on cross play. That allows accessibility to all players which Sony is ademitly against.
Xbox for all intensive purposes, doesn't need to build a console with the advent of Game Pass but, they do to provide a way of gaming to those who can't afford to pc game and that's a huge win to consumers.
The fact of the matter is I haven't used a Microsoft console since 360 but I still use my Microsoft account to this day when I set it up well over 15 years ago. I think it's just awsome that I can game with my friends on Xbox and even use discord when I can just as easy use the Xbox app inside of windows. Microsoft has always been more accepting to 3rd party integration and hosting, rather than creating something new. Sure, I do wish that halo, gears, and other Microsoft exclusives were better however, I can play exclusives pretty fast on my pc where I would have to wait years for the better exclusive on the Sony side to be avaliable on PC and that's okay.
Buying a Playstation is still relevant because Sony still uses its business model in creating a fantastic console gaming experience and gaming needs that. However, the comparison to Sony and Microsoft isn't as cut and dry as it was 15 years ago. Microsoft has moved on from console games and focuses more on being a game host and making games avaliable to more people. That includes bad games as well.
So yeah, this video shines a light on how bad Microsoft is as a console exclusive lens However, it's not very fair to keep Microsoft in that lens when they tried focusing this shift with the release of Xbox one in 2014. They realized that in order to be relevant in gaming, they have to provide more than just a console and they have achieved that.
I totaly agree with you
I love how xbox fans are so dilusional
On god 😂
I’m done with Xbox, there’s little baby’s texting me the n word and shit and I call them a piece of shit and I get banned for a month. I pay 15 bucks every month out of my own pocket just to have a 10 year old sped report me for calling him “a bad name” the report said. Back to pc it is.
Facts ill stick with PC/PS both are better communitys
To be fair, Xbox's decrease in quality standards began in 2011, shortly after the release of the Kinect. I own an Xbox 360 and after 2010, other than a few multi platform games there is nothing worth noting in that system other than Halo 4, in fact it got so bad that the Playstation 3 finally cought up in the end so I would consider Xbox's golden age to be from 2005 to 2010... if you ignore the RRoD in the launch units, otherwise it's 2007-2010.
The OG Xbox is also severely underrated. Yes, it wasn't an ultimate must own system but it had a quality variety of games. SEGA's exclusives like JSRF, Gunvalkyrie, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Project Gotham Racing series, Otogi 1 and 2 or Koei Tecmo's exclusives such as Ninja Gaiden Black and Dead or Alive 3. Rare also contributed a little when they were bought with Conker and Grabbed by the Ghoulies before Microsoft turned it into a soulless studio.
It is funny to think of the OG Xbox and the early days of the Xbox 360 had they not gotten the massive third party support to make exclusives for their systems, they might have turned out worse than the Xbox One. Although, the death of true third party exclusives in the mid of the 360's lifecycle really exposed how dry Xbox consoles really were with Halo, Gears and Forza alone being the only consistant releases. That's why Phil had the genius idea of just buying game companies left and right but the thing these Xbox heads don't understand is that you need to nurture your studios with more than just money.
This is why they have never beaten Sony and never will despite being close with the Xbox 360.
This is true plus Microsoft doesn’t retain the talent after buying studios, which defeats the purpose of buying them in the first place.
i've been saying for years that Microsoft clearly wants out of the console market, shifting "Xbox" entirely into what Gamepass is currently, but they can't do that until Sony allows it on Playstation platforms; as much as Xbox tries to puff out their chest and act like they're competition to anybody, they are completely at the mercy of Playstation at this point, and i have a feeling that Playstation is going to make it absolutely unbearable for them (rightfully so)
i remember watching that 2014 E3 live and man, the overwhelming relief and joy that came from Playstation's rejection of DRM....that's hard to describe. big time agree that that was the turning point of the console industry. truth be told, if Nintendo invested more in tech and kept up with Playstation in terms of 'horsepower', Xbox would be dead and buried in a few years' time

If I had XBOX for the last couple years it would make sense but I now own a Series X and I’m wondering why I even have it!😤 ALL there is is HALO.☠️ The backwards compatibility is decent (severely lacking meaningful games) but I have a PS3 that I can play online for free.
@@jkarma3356 exclusives aren’t as important as people make it out to be. However the Series X doesn’t do anything to feel new. The UI is SOOOOO dated and all the games I have are already on Sony.
Xbox over all just isn’t doing enough. At the very least fix the UI lol.
@@OTG1776aaaaand this is why exclusives are important. You can’t add new things to gaming consoles. They do it all already (fast, powerful, great controllers, more than enough storage, tv streaming, etc.). The goal is to play great games
@@LinkCDM honestly your right. Most people don’t play exclusives games (relative to console sells) but if you want someone to jump platforms then having great exclusives is VITAL.
Except it took Sony what, like 2-3 years before they had any exclusive titles for the PS5, if anyone could get ahold of a console to begin with.
Not defending XBox or Micro$haft, the last Xbox console I bought was the 360 and I only have the digital version of the Series S because a friend bought it for me and it's just taking up shelf space for the most part, but Sony barely scraped by this console generation.
It was never the leading console and it wasn't dominate. What the hell are you talking about? Stop blaming 343 for halo and blame Phil Spencer and Matt Booty for green lighting those games.
I'm still scratching my head at the fact that they Never developed a Kotor 3 and/or Kotor 1&2 remastered version on Xbox 360.
Thanks for giving insight on what was going on behind the scenes I hd no clue Microsoft tried to pull such a scum bag move.
You’re welcome and thank you for watching 🤘🏻
How did they go from the XBOX 360 to its current state I cannot understand
They got so beat by their competition they changed lanes
Same way Sony went from sugar to shit. Arrogance and wanting to play the market while at the top.
It’s really sad how Xbox and Microsoft are carrying themselves in the gaming scene. Really just seems like they have no respect for developers. Tbh the way they’re handling it is toxic too. Buying out everything in existence is not healthy competition; it’s quite the opposite.
My Xbox is primarily used for media (Netflix, Hulu, HBOMax, etc.). Even w/ gamepass there’s just nothing I want to play.
I watched that Xbox E3 and was baffled why I (or anyone else) would would want to watch tv or browse the internet on my console. Like wtf?
Sony abandoned Japan and raised the price of their ps5.
Japan is very mobile focused. But PlayStation still does well there
They did because they weren't willing to put in the effort, plus politics. Handhelds dominate Japan and why Nintendo went ahead and made their console mobile. It's either that or phones. Sony gave up with the Vita instead of pushing good hardware forward and lost a piece of the market. Their priorities shifted with the West taking over Playstation division. They still sell there and will more with their games going to PC, but everyone is raising console prices at some point. MS will next year through GamePass.
How did Sony abandon Japan when Japanese games are still a huge part of the PlayStation library?
@@shingai5694 Because it used to be far more a major chunk of their library and releases. Now it's only consistent seems to be Final Fantasy. They censor a lot of Japanese titles or the ones allowed already censor themselves (Capcom,
BandaiNamco, Sega/Atlus). The big ones, essentially. Many Japanese IP are going to Switch or PC and not Playstation, which was near always a default unless it was deemed too domestic to release outside Japan.
Japan is no longer their or holds importance despite the chances they insisted this, when only they meant if it complied with Western sensibilities. That's what happens when the Playstation division is owned by a Western company in one of the most politically charged parts of the country.
@@EndymionTv
2.5 million PS5's sold in Japan. I don't see that as abandoning but a huge success. PS5 is killing it worldwide. It's the number one next gen console.
Xbox, the exclusive game destroyer, well done, they just couldn’t make good exclusives game, it almost feel like it is in their gene, so pathetic
They should go back to making exclusivity deals like they used to back in the Original Xbox and Xbox 360 days.
The Xbox pretty much dead cause they keep releasing games like redfall and halo infinite while playstation releases god of war rag and ghost of tushima and ff16 is also releasing this month.. The actvision-blizzard also did not go through 😂
I remember vividly when the xbox one first came out and everyone was talking about how it just focuses on TV which made zero sense seeing as its a game console
I hope you realize that even during halo 1 and 2, Microsoft only sold maybe 30 million consoles while Sony was selling over 130 million.
Clicked on this after learning ff16 wont come to xbox, I regret not sticking it out for the ps5 tbh, last year playstation had gow & horizon, this year its ff16 and spider man 2.
Something that I don’t hear talked about enough is that Sony has been much more anti-consumer than Microsoft since the launch of the latest console generation. They don’t give you backwards compatibility, they don’t let you use your old accessories on PS5, they lead the charge on raising game prices, they raised prices on the PS5, and they have no deal as good as game pass. I get that they don’t have the same exclusives as PlayStation, but the majority of gamers play 3rd party games like CoD and Battlefield. There’s not much reason for PS to be winning this generation other than people having brand familiarity with PS.
Enjoying my Series X i play it everyday with a library of over 700 games.I don’t pick sides or play plastic box wars i just play what i like and right now that is Xbox
I'd say over the past few years they've learned a lot from their mistakes. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming exclusives, and Game Pass is legendary.
I’m happy that you think that way! I hope game pass does well cause it’ll force Sony to innovate more too
Dude, they haven't learnt a single thing and are continuing their shenanigans all over again. Don't keep ur hopes up, you'll be sorely disappointed.
That how commercial about loaning out a game is so savage, lol.
Great video. The onerous and desprerate tactics of xbox have been pretty obvious for awhile but the truth is generally shrouded behind most media sources as they hold out for the next round of xbox offerings in the hope that somehow things turn around. Good games will win in the gaming landscape, not buying success through monopolization of game developers. The move xbox made to control consumer behavior by preventing people from sharing games is a great example of what can happen when a bad company gets marketshare. This problem is not limited to xbox though, it pervades nearly every aspect of American business strategy today. Someone needs to say it
This is why PC is the place to be and it makes Xbox absolutely irrelevant
The xbox is far from dead or even a failure. With the acquisition of id and in the process of purchasing blizzard/Activision, xbox is going to dominate. That's why Sony is fighting so hard to keep that deal from going through.
Being someone who’s been an Xbox guy for almost 20 years. Even having a Live account listed as 16 years and have a Series X. There’s just no reason to OWN an Xbox anymore. Considering most Xbox games now can be played on PC now.
I’m even considering looking into a PS5 because they look to have more engaging, solid, and fun single player games. Where Xbox is going more microtransactions, GaaS, and incomplete games.
Do it, join the dark side 😈
I'm enjoying my Series X. Tons of games to play on Gamepass. And next year is going to be even better. Sure, a gaming PC even a laptop is great, but way more expensive. I love the ease of the Xbox. Quick resume has been amazing as I've been playing about 4 different games right now.
Why would you when sony is taking the same route as xbox? Those games are going to pc anyway and we all know damn well soon it will be day one release with the pc. Exclusive are dead money talks
Just game on PC. LOL.
Microsoft has the same exclusives every generation. PlayStation is making remakes and have hella anime content which spices things up. They just have more than what Xbox offers which is just gears of war and halo but we’ve been playing those for years we need new triple aaa’s cause whatever xbox has PlayStation has as well. So might as well go pc or PlayStation 5 this generation imo
Us Xbox fans took a huge L at E3. Sony destroyed us by saying “On PS4 you can play used games and don’t need to be connected online to play.” They won a whole generation by keeping basic features.
Two reasons I bought an X Box Series S and am okay with it:
1) I can still play the games I bought on the 360
2) They were sold out of PS5 when I went shopping.
Notice how it was never about any new exclusive games as I don't even know of any.
Ironica - You are a Regular consumer of video games. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, Most of the gamers in this world are in your category. They just game to game.. no allegiance to any one console because of the "Name Branding". That's the BEST way to be.
It was already that execs at 343 HATED HALO!! They wanted nothing to do with the franchise and that mentality alone killed it. Bonnie was fired, let's face it. This was just after she declared that the local player mode and another single campaign mode were shelved indefinitely for HALO (correct me if I'm wrong). Basically 343 was trying to make Infinite a "games as a service" model and people didn't buy it. Also, it's well known that Microsoft's budget series S has been a mixed bag due to the difficulty of making higher quality games work on it. Some refer to it as "the potato". But Microsoft insists that ALL games programed for it's systems must be for both consoles. Despite the fact the S doesn't have the grunt to run the larger games. So no X exclusives that take advantage of it's full power. And it is powerful!
I have both XBOX Series X and PS5. I only find myself using my X as a backwards compatible machine to play Halo, Alan Wake, and a few others. It's a great backwards machine that is vastly superior to the PS5 for playing older games. ,As for their current generation, I have to agree that Microsoft should concentrate less on buying AI and ChatGPT tech and concentrate on reviving their clearly ailing brand. Or it may just be that Microsoft is seeing the writing on the wall after the Federal Trade Commission is suing them for the Activision buyout. They have bought Bethesda, trying to buy Activision, and countless others. At this point do you really want Microsoft controlling the gaming space? It is fact that GamePass is the only thing propping up the XBOX, and it won't do it for much longer when people find out the 100 or so games they "rent" only cost on sale between $3.99 and $19.99 USD. So you really are renting bargain basement games with a few AAA premium games to keep you interested. Now Sony isn't much better as many of their anti consumer practices (Use of Denuvo, three tier live system, and streamed classic PS titles) to name a few. But Sony is still better in the long run. Maybe it's time for Phil Spencer to do a Don Mattrick and STEP DOWN.
Vegeta with a hint of Yamcha is brilliantly hilarious a INSTANT FUCKING CLASSIC!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
What do you think of Microsoft releasing their games on PC and would that give players no reason to buy xbox consoles?
That argument is ridiculous. Some people don't want to play games on PC. So they buy consoles. I'm one of them.
Playstation releases their games on PC as well so using your knowledge there's no reason for xbox or Playstation anymore
1) PCs are more expensive
2) Some prefer consoles. For example, I prefer console gaming because I prefer controller and I prefer to be laid back rather than forced to sit in a chair
@@ghosttrain5588 Okay then what would be an incentive to buy those consoles beside you just really want to get them since exclusives are the main incentive to buy the console.
@@mordecaiandthekobokerz exclusives are a thing of the past even Sony has learned this. That is why Sony has been releasing their games on PC as well, for the money. So buying a console for exclusives is a thing of the past it will now be for convenience, consoles are cheaper, easier to set up and they are not as bulky as a computer, hell alot of people prefer console over PC just so they don't have to deal with hackers on PC. So there's many reasons to still get a console it's just so many people are use to Mu exclusives 1 track mind that they over look everything else and just buying a console because you really want to is the best reason. What people can't get things for themselves anymore? They have to run it by you and the rest of the gaming gods to make sure it's adequate and acceptable? Buy what what you like, play what you like and don't care about what others think or say about you, a product.
Nobody’s talking about the MSX, which was a Microsoft microcomputer (similar to the ZX Spectrum or Commodore 64) that flopped everywhere except Japan.
The MSX was Microsoft’s first foray into gaming well before the Xbox.
Nowadays, most people just know about it for Metal Gear. Because of how much of a massive failure it was outside of Japan.
I left xbox to ps5, I am so much happier now.

Good points, but gamepass is definitely where it's at. Plus, the Series X looks amazing on 4K with 120 Hz refresh rate. I always buy both at some point, but I'm gonna wait until Sony releases a PS5 that doesn't look friggin' ridiculous. But I will admit that the PS5 controller is next level.
That in the long run doesn't matter at all specially when the ps5 is game after game outperforming the series x
@Nemesis encounter - Facts 🙄 All this talk of how "quality" their console is... when there's 👏🏼 NO 👏🏼 GOOD 👏🏼 GAMES to play on it anyway. And ffs, it's not like the PS5 is some trashbin. It runs like a charm, is deadly silent & has given people practically zero issues, other than trying to FIND one to buy, because it's so damned popular. These people are in denial. lol
Great video. I'd say part of the downfall of Xbox, in addition to the new game registration trash, was the mandatory "xbox connect" you had to have running at all times to ensure that the "authorized users" were playing. That, and the requirement for a persistent internet connection to ensure the games you were playing were yours.
It's insane how they were able to destroy years of success in just one night. They tried to double back on what they said shortly after (less than 24 hours, I believe), but the damage was already done.
With greed like that, they earned their downfall.
Thanks for watching & being open to discussion
Bro Xbox literally let you play all their games for 10€ a month, how do you call that greed
"Bro", gamepass came out 4 years after the events I wrote about. By then it was over for Xbox One. Popularity from Xbox had shifted to PS4 overnight (literally).

You have to fail in order to succeed and look at them now. Playstation is terrified.
I wonder if Nintendo is kicking themselves for selling Rare to Microsoft in 2001. Nintendo likely would've done something with Rare's IPs more than Microsoft currently is.
Rare is the one that doesn't want to work on their old ips, bro. Plus, Rare has never been more popular and successful than nowadays with xbox. Sea of Thieves is a blast and is thrilling.
@tucanomonarquista1708 Sea of Thieves maybe. But it launched in an abysmal state and aside from that, what popular IP has Rare made for Microsoft since buying them in 2001? Really hardly anything. I feel like Nintendo would've given us a new and good Banjo Kazooie or Conker game. Rare under Microsoft doesn't seem to care about any of the old classic Rare franchises.

Since early 2000's? X-Box (original) was a complete failure man. Don't you remember? It started doing well with X-Box 360 which didn't come out til the end of 2005, which was well into mid 2000's. I know man, as we get older it feels like a lot longer ago haha. Wasn't even in High School anymore by the time the system came out...actually, was half way through college.
To be honest i never understood why Microsoft entered the console market in the first place, they already had a gaming platform, Windows. Manufacturing hardware is much more expensive than just developing software, you need to build facilities, get materials, pay thousands of factory workers, shipping the product etc. etc. That's a lot of expenses. And as i already said they already had Windows, wich means that most of the PC games market was already theirs. All they needed were Windows exclusives.
Even the 3rd paty games looks better on the ps5, so what happen with the most powerfull console

Microsoft was NEVER the dominant leader of the gaming industry. What are you talking about? They had one period during the first two years where they were doing well, because Sony dropped the ball with the PS3 launch. But then Microsoft lost a lot of the leeway they had when XBOX 360s started Red Ringing, and they never recovered from that.🤣
Just a correction on your vid, the Xbox One fiasco started on May 2013 announcement not on e3 2013
actually e3 2013 was full of games on e3 conference (That TV XBOX thing happened on the announciment not on e3 ), but the price of Xbox announced on e3 and the problems you cited (the Used game) alongside a BS response of Don Matrick that you needed 360 if you wanted to play offline solidified that situationh
Great video! I agree with everything the host stated. I am a PS fan though and through. I didn’t pay attention to what MS was offering because Sony cranked out hit after hit. I will say that I am a little shocked of XB’s lack of exclusives. Another point that I agree with is MS’s lack of cultivating 1st party developers because they can just buy them. If you compare the specs between Sony and MS’s consoles, Xbox always comes out on top however, games look better on the PS’s. Bottom line MS…develop better games. It’s worked very well from your Japanese competitors
Agree with almost all of this video but you missed the part where Sony is making 3rd party games exclusive or timed exclusives for their system. Thats shady AF
I mean Xbox did the same. High on Life is on game pass but it didn’t release on PlayStation when it came out. There’s more games like that too but they all do it
They are mostly timed unless Sony devs make it, but then go to PC. So they really aren't exclusive anymore, they share like XBox puts their on PC almost by default. When it comes to Japanese devs, they always pick and choose based on best sales in the West or where they want the IP. Nintendo gets a horde of exclusives and Sony gets the graphically heavy timed ones that will go to PC later. Microsoft should never have started the exclusivity of 3rd party games nor acquisitions as they have now. They are instigate Sony and gaming gets worse or people start arguing over who is the least worst or try and revise history of who did what.
@@EndymionTv in retrospect xbox did it lately
Blue Dragon, lost odyssey, mass effect, Bioshock, and so on. 360 era had these exact same “shady” practices you speak of. Heck, CoD was an Xbox game for all intents and purposes during the 360 era. Developers jumped ship when they saw how Sony was doing business late PS3 to PS4 onward and that hasn’t changed since. The’ll go to where the games will sell and with the audience that Sony has, of course they’ll talk with them and set up a deal first. Like they did with Microsoft and the 360 🤷♂️

Thanks for the vid! Xbox truely does not bring anything new and good for the gaming community: no actual investment in their IPs, no new titles, no new graphic, no new mechanic ... completely nothing. But with the deep pocket of MS, Xbox, the spoiled rich child, is hacking the market to win and to dominate. If it wins, all gamers will suffer.
I have decided to NOT buy anything from Xbox, not because I hate it, just because I don't want to support this selfish tyrant and its bad-quality games.
Exclusives, Exclusives and Exclusives. I agree with most of his statements, but saying that a console is defined by exclusives is ridiculous.
Let me ask something, which games do you think sell the most ? Exclusives or Multiplatform games ?
Did Playstation 2 have a lot of exclusives ?
Are you really going to persuade me to believe that PS2 sold 150 millions units because of GOW and GT ?
Xbox is not dying, gaming is dying.
My favorite consoles of all time, Xbox 360 and PS2.
No one remembers them because of the exclusives.
But because they were amazing.
Microsoft only buy studios.
As if Sony didn't do this as well.
I see people praising games like GOW RAGNAROK or Sony games in general, when in my opinion they are only becoming worse and worse.
GOW Ragnarok is one of the most mediocre games i've ever played as is Halo Infinite.
People are more worried in creating beatiful CGI trailers, being nominated for 50 or 100 awards to put in the cover of the game, people are more worried in selling a product than creating a game.
People are worried in creating an EVENT that presents the Best Game, instead of playing them.
I've finished GOW Ragnarok and Halo Infinite and some others from either Xbox and PS.
I've finished this games and never touched them again.
I don't feel like playing them again.
I almost can't believe that Xbox & Microsoft even care about game's anymore? Which is CRAZY because I LOVED the original Xbox and the Xbox 360. *How is Xbox putting so much time & money into producing nothing & never coming off like they even CARE? What happened? They bought all these companies FOR WHAT? Ever since Xbox has bought companies, they haven't produced anything.. why is Xbox "satisfied" with the state of things? They should be very vocal about they are Not okay with this and They should be open to the public about how & what they are thinking about doing to improve this... They literally gave 343 so much money to drive a staple game into the ground. Yet Xbox seems fine with continuing to fund them, to not communicate to the public and to not listen to fans and their customers.
It really isn't difficult to find ways to improve this situation. Just look at what made so many people love things and have so much fun and tap back into that. Give players options. Give them different modes. Give them abilities to play against bots. Offline modes. Co-op modes, local split screen multiplayer. Creative unique story mode. A sandbox of options and custom game modes to play. The ability to customize their character. (Charge for the game instead of making a "free to play game" with everything else being locked behind a paywall or just completely lacking from the game entirely. Even tho in previous years games they included so much more options and diversity.) People just want to have fun. Is it THAT HARD for gaming companies to put aside Greed that ironically is causing so much failure *Instead of just remembering that if a company makes a FUN GAME, people will LOVE to play it and share it with their friends and talk about it and it all comes back around to equal good things. Why has modern gaming forgotten so much about what made gaming successful? I have been going back and playing my old games on my old consoles and realizing just how much I loved gaming before this new era came out. I really hope that game companies can realize that because the potential is limitless with today's current capabilities hardware/software wise. With the right mindset and approach, some of the best games ever could be created.
Can’t forget the legendary moment at E3 2013 when PlayStation announced their pricing on the console. Much cheaper than Xbox
Loved that Dragonball analogy.
