- 150 LEGO Star Wars Clone Troopers in one box? The 2002 LEGO Star Wars Clone Building Event is shrouded in mystery for many but today I go through the events history and show off my own copy from this Wal-Mart event. Unboxing this is one of the highlights of collecting LEGO Star Wars for me, this box & the 150 Clone Troopers inside eluded me for years. If LEGO sold this Clone Trooper box (or boxes like it) it would easily be the best way to build a LEGO Clone Army fast & relatively cheap. I paid $1900 for my LEGO Star Wars white-whale. I am happy af.

As a kid I was lucky enough to have a building event set of all 150. At the time I didn't even know its was part of a big event. I didn't have the box so I didn't know the context on why there was so many. 7 year old me just seen a massive bag of clones and didn't question it LOL. I didn't find out until years later that my aunt worked at Walmart and after the event, she took them home. Sadly, I had to sell them years ago, but I did keep a few. To this day I'm still finding random helmets and torsos in drawers around the house.

The moment LEGO release a hundred (or even thousand) clone trooper box, we will see challenges like people creating the Grand army of the republic with the 6.2 millions of clones.
We haven’t been into Lego as I used to be (mainly cause of college) but if I ever heard they were doing a 1000 clone trooper box I would drive to the nearest store that had them and buy one as soon as I could. I mean just think how great that would be I completely agree with you

alsounit doesnt refer to 1 clone, it refers to a deployment such as battlion or division based off legends refrence books. Back in the era of legend, traviss's 3 million clones was debunked by Lucasarts continuity supervisor Ryan Kaufman who said the the 3 million was just part of one group of clones. Additionally in the "Inside the Worlds of StarWars Attack of the Clones" and "Star Wars Complete Locations" refrence books, Curtis saxton (father of incredible cross sections reference books) stated that there were millions of clone divislons, with a divislon in star wars universe ranging from 100 to thousands of clones; note that these refrence books were approved by lucasarts and lucasfilm before being released. Additionally theres more proof to showing this higher number. The biggest one was that ships like venators and acclamators were completelycrewed by clones (confirmed by the refrence books and the republic commando books); the Star wars Revised Core Rulebook of 2002 stated that the republic ordered 1000 more acclamators right after geonosis, which would require at least 16 million clones to crew just those 1000 aclamators. Thats not evencounting how the clonewars took place on millions of worlds and the separatists had quintillions of droids.

Totally did this when I was younger with my cousins. We were the only ones who showed up. So the employee working it allowed us to have the minifigures, and the hasbro Obi Wan figure with the kit. My cousins and I split them evenly. I still have my 1/3 of the clones in my collection.
I remember doing this even at my local Walmart all the way back in 2002 crazy. Never thought I would see that same box again almost 20 years later
There is also a 2008 version of this challenge with clone wars animated clones that actually had Cody helmets instead of regular ap1 clone helmets. It’s slightly more rare then the 2002 version so the more you know.

A well worth investment for $1900, the clones alone are $20 each on ebay, that is 3k alone, let alone the box of history, a wise Investment to say the least!!! Well done and how fun!

I did the event as a 13 year old and it was really kind of bleh.... My mom and dad tried to get the clones but one of the employees had already called dibs. BUT they were able to score the "lightsaber training course"(??) Basically a three walled enclosed box about five feet high that "shot lasers" (flashed red lights) at you that you pretended to block. The three panels had the probes from ep 1, Jango Fett, and one with Anakin and Yoda. And then around the top on the outside of the box was a cutout of the Coruscant skyline. All of which now decorate my son's room. ;)

I was lucky enough to take part in the 2008 one which was held at my local Lego store. Essentially the winner of each round got to keep a figure, or at least that's how it worked at the one I attended. I was happy with the figures I managed to win, but a whole box? That's a dream come true lol

During Phantom Menace, Walmart had an event where you have to build a lightsaber on a special black lego hilt that you could place bricks on top. I ended up winning and still have the hilt. I have never seen another one anywhere online. Makes me wonder what its worth

I only knew about it before this video from reading the LEGO Star Wars book you mentioned in your "Cancelled LEGO Star Wars Yavin 4 Set", it's sweet you found one! Can't believe there's still those old 2002-2004 LEGO clone troopers out there, I have an incredible collection of LEGO with almost half being Star Wars and I might have 2 of those old style clones? They're crazy rare as far as I can tell, I have a Jedi Bob but only 2 or less of those clones if that says anything lol

Totally remember participating in this event back in the day. I still have the certificate for participation, and have regretted not asking to keep some back in the day.
There's only one downside about this.. the clones don't come with blasters ! Have to supply those urself.

2 decades old, the figs are in great condition, the box is in good condition overall but considering this could have been sitting in a kids closet for 20 years I would say amazing condition, made out like a bandit is an understatement.

Iv started only collecting the Mando 4 packs and the 501st, and now have 2 full battalions of each, and it so awesome that you got 2 of the building event sets.

They’re most likely moving to the $30/$25 super packs for army building and play. A CMF series would be great for collector’s and kids would love cheap lego star wars characters.

It's worth it because you wanted it. I like the box you received. The shape of the helmet makes the box. The one in the image looks like it only has photos on one side.

I remember being big into Lego Star Wars in 2002 when the AOTC sets were first released and I never heard of this promotion ever.
I was 4 years old when i did this and it’s one of the only memories I have of the time, all I remember is that I didn’t win the challenge 😂😂
I really love this design of the Lego phase 1 clone trooper. More than clone wars cartoon and new episode 2 design. I only have one of these guy.
I remember this when the movie debuted. Our local wal mart had an event and only my brother and I showed up. We built about 16 troopers each and then left in case anyone else showed up. Hated ourselves for it for years.
