As a kid I was lucky enough to have a building event set of all 150. At the time I didn't even know its was part of a big event. I didn't have the box so I didn't know the context on why there was so many. 7 year old me just seen a massive bag of clones and didn't question it LOL. I didn't find out until years later that my aunt worked at Walmart and after the event, she took them home. Sadly, I had to sell them years ago, but I did keep a few. To this day I'm still finding random helmets and torsos in drawers around the house.

Thats not evencounting how the clonewars took place on millions of worlds and the separatists had quintillions of droids.

There is also a 2008 version of this challenge with clone wars animated clones that actually had Cody helmets instead of regular ap1 clone helmets. It’s slightly more rare then the 2002 version so the more you know.
Totally did this when I was younger with my cousins. We were the only ones who showed up. So the employee working it allowed us to have the minifigures, and the hasbro Obi Wan figure with the kit. My cousins and I split them evenly. I still have my 1/3 of the clones in my collection.
I did the event as a 13 year old and it was really kind of bleh.... My mom and dad tried to get the clones but one of the employees had already called dibs. BUT they were able to score the "lightsaber training course"(??) Basically a three walled enclosed box about five feet high that "shot lasers" (flashed red lights) at you that you pretended to block. The three panels had the probes from ep 1, Jango Fett, and one with Anakin and Yoda. And then around the top on the outside of the box was a cutout of the Coruscant skyline. All of which now decorate my son's room. ;)

During Phantom Menace, Walmart had an event where you have to build a lightsaber on a special black lego hilt that you could place bricks on top. I ended up winning and still have the hilt. I have never seen another one anywhere online. Makes me wonder what its worth

2 decades old, the figs are in great condition, the box is in good condition overall but considering this could have been sitting in a kids closet for 20 years I would say amazing condition, made out like a bandit is an understatement.

They’re most likely moving to the $30/$25 super packs for army building and play. A CMF series would be great for collector’s and kids would love cheap lego star wars characters.

If you find one for less than $2000 you might be able to make the money back if you sell all the clones since they're pretty valuable in new condition.
Lego used to just sell all of its bricks basically whole sale in their magazines, you just needed to know what the part numbers were and submit an order request. This was well over a decade ago though so perhaps things have changed significantly.
Totally remember participating in this event back in the day. I still have the certificate for participation, and have regretted not asking to keep some back in the day.
The way you had them set up on the base plate reminds me of the ending of attack of the clones and the emperor walking down though the isle of stormtroopers in return of the jedi
