My teenager came home with a prom dress from Goodwill for $13.99 and asked me to add a corset like back so it fit her chest. I've never sewn large adjustments to clothing before, just a hem or dart here or there but nothing like this. She's a size 12 everywhere but her chest and this video saved me! ❤❤❤❤ Anastasia! Thank YOU! I am not a fan of alterations and as you may also run into this as any selfish sewist or an all around professionally seamstress, when people know you sew, they always want you to hem or take in their garments. I finally became comfortable telling people I don't sew for others without guilt. WELL a very dear friend asked if I could increase the width of a dress she is the maid of honor for a wedding she is in a week from now 😭😭😭😭. I cannot say no as I know her options to get a seamstress this soon to fix her dress in this late of a notice is nearly impossible due to the current season. Because of your SUPER EASY instructions (so detailed), I can adjust her dress for her. Thank YOU for this. Additionally, I am now thinking of some of my dresses I can do this to as well. You are so amazing, such a great tutorial. ❤

    This should work great for
a formal gown that needed a solutionIt! It is black with a large floral pattern in various shades of blue! I’m excited to present this idea to her.
I plan on also asking the seamstress if a triangle of double layered black, stretch tulle can be sewn into the “open V” so as to not have bare skin exposed to the blue laced ribbon ? I figured this might be a solution for those that request &/or require more modesty?! Looking forward to watching more of your videos ❣️

I watched three other videos and they were not as clear and understanding you showed it just enough but it was clear in my brain is got it all figured out I’m wanting to do this on all kinds of things. What I’m wondering about maybe have you done this on another video is if you can add a modesty panel to the back or is that really challenging? I’m just wondering if where you have the pink ribbon if I took a piece of the fabric from the dress if you have some some people don’t actually have any and then put that going across where the ribbon crosses underneath.

Hi. I have a body con dress with a side zip & it's too small. I want to take out the side zip, stitch up the SS closed, and then create a seam at the back to insert a corset. Do you know how to create a seam on a garment from scratch?

I hope I get a response! I’m trying to add a small lace up to the sides of a skirt(waistband is way too tight).
How do I do this to something that doesn’t already have an inseam?

You could measure from the center front or back equal distance to the sides and make the cuts for the lace up inserts.
