I kinda feel you lost due knowing the game mechanics and exploits too good. Also I think the third challenge would better fit the original format of Speed5 where contenders knew a week or more before the challenge and they could practise. This was just too finicky for playing it from the spot. Although you under-performed heavily in the first challenge. And you even spoke loudly before the game about the strategy that ended up much better.
@@Hadar1991 no indeed first game was 100% a throw by me. I forgot about passing the provinces 1by1 for 'safety'. The final challenge was a failure on my end to read as it where, they did clarify eco tab not ledger, and I thought ledger to my detriment.
@@LemonCake101 I really wanted to see you challenge Zlewikk and Flowy, what a pity. :( I hope you will be invited next time and you will not accidentally trow the game. :D
According to GPT, you managed to recruit an impressive 93% of all men aged 18-60 living in all of Austria at the time. The other 7% I'm pretty sure were your casualties and killed rebels?
3:35:06 "and 405 from Portugal" yeah, but most of it goes to Burgundy, Scotland only gets 93 as you can see. Student obviously didn't know taking money shows up in spoils, otherwise he would go different strat. But even peacing out all his last wars at once could maybe beat 329 ? So yeah, one aimed for wrong goal, another didn't read the rules. But i'm sure Student would get more than 329, i he knew what really shows up in spoils, so it is fine in the end.
Taking Money from Peacedeals also doesn't show up in the Economic Tab... I tested it before and that is why I asked them if it is really pnly counted from the Eco Tab and not the Ledger... so basically as the Challenge was worded it literally meant to simply get as much Money as possible from Looting, Privateering and War Reps (and that is what I went for because that is all that shows up in the Eco Tab) P.S. Anyways it should have definetly been a higher number in the end XD
@@thestudentYT You are right :) Host were so confident that, i thought, it does show up. And they also mentioned that it showed up in Lemoncake's, case, if wouldn't unpause for one month. But i just tried and it doesn't show up, so i have no idea what hosts were talking about... they messed it up.
No indeed. Given time to think I was wrong to assume ledger, and when playing for spoils of war/war rep only, the 'meta' would be peace out England, and wait until England sells crownland/gets a money event as you get 10% of that income, and that does show up in war rep income. Regardless indeed I did understand it wrong, I assumed it was ledger, not eco tab, and played for eco tab; do bare in mind, its not like I had access to see what the Student was doing either.
For the first challenge, am I right to understand that Lemon Cake didn't upgrade his troops to the next available technological level? Because the notification was up there until the end of his game. Edit: THE DRAMA IN THAT LAST GAME IS UNREAL.
For the first gauntlets first question: other than GH, Kazan, Crimea, Avaria, Gazikumukh, The ottomans, Karaman, Ramazan, Dulkadir and Granada, but Anatolia is also considered to be in europe and Candars capital province is in Sinop and is also in europe making the answer 11
Subjugation CB can be more useful if you can give away many provinces to war allies and then get them back as reconquests or for favors. Though due to mechanics you'd usually just take one cheap province and then release the vassal (also not requiring you to take the capital - but without a connection, direct vassalization works). It's pretty sweet, with a little luck you can take all of e.g Brandenburg in one war, at fairly trivial AE (of course you do later get the diplo-annex malus in the HRE). Not sure on Milan, I think pretty quickly his dev is too high to fully eat him. Also it's rather tricky because your allies will only take so many provinces each, so without birding it's hard to know what they'll accept. But yeah, that's a pretty solid way of eating those high AE countries, especially in the HRE.
Man that end was sure something! [spoilers] - - I think both players showed their worth - perhaps more main round slots next season? ;). All's fair, rules as given, and in a way, especially for a tiebreaker, it's all the better to have such a game detail that even the casters were...surprised? :) Perhaps a thought: I know yous like to do the challenges yourselves as well. You could do it beforehand, have the content for later, and it'd be a playtest at the same time. Though in fairness, with this roster of players, undoubtedly they'll keep thinking up strats that even the three of you could never see coming ;). GG, congrats to the winner, and to the #2, looking forward to you taking on Florry next season!
personally i would have gone with colonial so pirate republic into pirate republic japan for the final game. its extremely easy to raid all the way from korea down to china, and all the way into india. also giving you easy access to global conquests
@Para Bellum There are some many good contenders so I would propose a format change for next edition (if there will be). Instead of 6 contenders have 12 of them and still have only 3 games per stream. This would make the competition much longer (66 instead 15 games) but you can manage it by doing two streams per one round.
NGL, it's pretty disappointing when in most of the challenges players either just fail completely or don't understand the challenge. Not the very entertaining.
Red Hawk says Subjugation CB is so not worth it? Honestly he should uninstall EU4. I got a subjugation CB in Ayu that had 2,5k development. Obviously they were disloyal but who cares when no one in the world can contest you? Also as Ayu you can stack AE impact a little and get all of the subjects from your mission tree without so much AE.
The Student going out to fight Muscovey meanwhile I am like 'damn these Styrians rebels are costing me too much manpower'

The correct term for EU4 competitive players is “Mapletes”
