There’s just something so uncannily delightful about seeing our boy Steve, looking incredible, skating around the best-looking version of THUG’s Manhattan I’ve ever seen, with animations on par with Skateboard Park Tycoon Back In The USA 2004.
It might be a Candian thing as I pronounce it that way also. The only time I hear DeeKals is when watching Nascar so I figured it was southern or at least an American pronunciation
I watched the first episode and now this one and I am flat out blown away that this is possible without totally recreating everything from scratch. You’re obviously very talented but this goes to show that these studios do not care to put in the effort. I can imagine a studio of 20 employees with you leading being able to put out a project like this in a year with great results. Really hope you put out more videos!
Bro You earned a sub for sure. This is amazing. This is one of the greatest games of all time. Ohh man I cant wait to see what Vancouver looks like. it was one of my favorite levels, and then Hawaii. And the soudtrack for that game is still fire.
I sorta feel the same way. The art direction of the original is really cohesive and great- and that trumps realism every time. There's also currently a lot of grittiness that's lost in my version, that I'd like to improve in the future by adding some more weathering.
What going on? Been awhile, did Activation already send you a cease and desist? Will we ever see Tampa or Hawaii, San Diego can be skipped for all I care.
Just discovered these videos. This looks great, man. Really love your passion and I'm jealous of your ability to be able to do this. You've picked the perfect nostalgic game for many to fawn over too.
This is awesome dude! Loving this series so far :D It only needs the right skating mechanics with ramps and rail collision and that Manhattan remake is golden lol
Watched the first episode and got hooked!! Part 2 pops up in my rec page and im excited again!!!! Hopefully we get another episode soon🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 been playing all old THPS games rn on my ps2
Doing good dude, looking forward to the next part. I give so much respect to Neversoft for how they must of programmed the actual skateboarding to be so fluid, even in the early games.
This is so cool, I love what you’re doing and appreciate the work. One thing you should be doing though is at the end of the video, giving a tour so we could actually see the level. Just a like 30 second skate through.
All I needed to know was if I was possible THUG 1 and 2 were my favorite games ever and you have motivated me to learn how to code just to do this so I can play again with updated graphics. Will return with updates if it comes to fruition.
Really happy to see a part 2 on this, this series is awesome. If you could get these ported to THPS 1+2 once it's all said and done you'd be a hero to the TH community! Looking forward to seeing Tampa next it's my favorite level.
This is becoming one of my favorite series to watch. I truly appreciate your love for the game and care in remaking it. People like yourself are the ones that should be leading game development. These shady game publishers and burnout/lazy devs could learn a lot from just your attitude towards this project.
@@bobross9370 My skill set aside, I think he means people with a passion for the project should be leading the project. This is something that is lacking in the modern game industry.
@@MitchMakesGames Not trying to insult you in any way, I'm sure you have a solid grasp on game development, video production is a job on it's own, nothing wrong with cutting some corners here and there. I just think his comment came across as very obtuse/naive, he pretty much stereotypes all "leading game developers" as "lazy" and "burned out", but doesn't realise that there is a lot more that goes into creating AAA games than is shown in videos like these, you *need* to have a lot of passion to be able to get on the same level as these AAA leading roles, look at Cory Barlog, he has spent close to 20 years on God Of War, if that's not passion, I don't know what is.
@@bobross9370 Totally agreed- in any artistic industry you do really do have to have an extreme passion for the art form to get to the top. Those are the people who should be the shot callers.
i played underground as a kid with my brothers this game a lot and i was hoping so badly that somebody take care of a remaster not even remake a remaster is enough to bring back that feeling ❤️ thank you dude for showing me how it could be :=)
Idk why they are making new Tony hawk games instead of remaking THUG, THUG 2 and THAW. You did a great job man! I'll wait for the next episode. New sub!
Funny how ragdoll inspire people to make games. My first game was called Road Cross Bloody Hell Arcade, which is the clone of the Traffic Panic london, but you control traffic light to kill pedestrians. Now i'm nearly 10 years in game dev...
please consider porting the NY map to Skater XL you'd make sooo many people happy im begging you. i know there will be plenty of people willing to support $
I just thought of a great Tony Hawk project that might be easier to do than the full levels. Do you remember the Create A Park feature? Basically bring that into Unreal Engine. Clean up or redo the models of all the parts, ramps, and buildings. Its kind of a lot of objects, but it cant be anywhere near the number of objects in a real level. Like around 100-200? I don't remember there being a massive library of things to chose from, it was just enough objects. some of the bigger ramps were just parts of a level too. Your Park had to fit on a tiny PS2 memory card back then too so it couldnt have too many objects in the first place. If you could port the game controls and animatios, the create a park controls . It would be a relatively quicker way to release a playable game. If we can get that gameplay engine. The game would go... The player makes a park then skates it. Thats it! Thats the game. Im playing with blender right now, im a veteran graphic artist, i would be happy to help out with models or textures, anything i know how to do, im no coder or programmer, i know my art, and i love Tony Hawk games!
The levels look good, but it's not a THPS game if the controls don't feel right. Would love to see you tackle the movement and flow sooner than later as I think perfecting that would let you make level changes which work in tandem with the moveset
1 episode a year?
There’s just something so uncannily delightful about seeing our boy Steve, looking incredible, skating around the best-looking version of THUG’s Manhattan I’ve ever seen, with animations on par with Skateboard Park Tycoon Back In The USA 2004.
😂
hands down the coolest "i'm remastering x" series i've seen in a long time
🙏
I love it man! My shout for a coffee or two, now for part 3 😂
Cheers!

I just recently replayed this game on PS2; it's really cool to see you making this!
dekkuls, huh. that's a new one. We say dee-kals round here. Fantastic job!
yep never in my life heard dekkles

Stuff like this keeps the world interesting!
Was gonna say the same 😂 deckles 🤔
Amazing, best game there was. Hope you’ll go all the way. Cheers from Sweden
Amazing! Cheers from Canada!
Been waiting for this bro, Manhattan is my favorite map!
You gotta get those animations 1 to 1.. frame by frame and then this would be perfect!
Hope this project of yours is still kicking. Awesome to see the progress you've made
Been really enjoying these videos, excited to see where this goes!
one of my fav ps2 games ever made! so cool you're remaking it
This is so gnarly dude
this is beyond amazing. truly great job, Mitch. absolutely lost for words.
Thanks man
Been a long time. Hope you're still doing these.
Never seen a series like this. Very freaking sick
Thanks!

I’ve been looking forward to this, sir. Thank you!
Yay! I was hoping you'd upload another part! Can't wait for part 3 ❤
love the project man but every time you cut between the original gameplay and your own, i can't help but feel the original game still looks better.

@@MitchMakesGames it probably has a lot to do with lighting. Unreal makes everything have a very... Unreal look that is hard to escape.
I put hundreds of hours into THUG in the PS2 days. This was the first time I realized there was a McD's in the Manhattan level
So you never did the Boneless mission??
@@ezwr3kz420focused so hard on the Boneless that I didn't even see the burger shop I guess

Leading game development? Are you serious? There's a lot more that goes into it than just importing a bunch of pre-made work into a UE5 project.
