The one in squid game is actually mixture of two versions. The intro part was from Shin Hae Chul's 2nd solo album in 1991, and then the part when he started singing in squid game, is from his rock group N.EX.T album in 2006 (album namd 5.5 re-game).
Probably because a lot of people didn't like to get "Netflixed." Despite the cliffhanger I say they did the best with what they could because of corporate meddling.
