I took a short walk in Elmshorn, which is said to be one of the worse cities in Germany, especially in Schleswig-Holstein. Well, decide for yourself.

▶ ELMSHORN
Elmshorn is a town in the district of Pinneberg in Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. It is 30 km north of Hamburg on the small river Krückau, a tributary of the Elbe, and with about 50,000 inhabitants is the sixth-largest town in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is the birthplace of writer and editor Hermann Schlüter (1851-1919), the mathematician Hermann Weyl (1885-1955) and the medievalist Heinz Woehlk (1944- ).
Historically Elmshorn had many companies in the food industry. Including meat processing and sausage production, margarine production and cereal processing. Major surviving companies include Dölling-Hareico (meat processing/sausage production) and Kölln (cereal processing, mainly oats and muesli).
▶ BAHNHOF ELMSHORN / ELMSHORN STATION
Elmshorn station is a railway station in Elmshorn in Schleswig-Holstein. Here the Hamburg-Altona-Kiel railway (R70) meets the Marsh Railway (R60). Elmshorn is also the terminus of the A3 line of the AKN Eisenbahn. That makes it the third-busiest station in Schleswig-Holstein. The Deutsche Bahn classifies it as a category 3 station and Elmshorn station is in the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund.
Elmshorn station was opened 18 September 1844, making it one of the oldest stations in the state. The Hamburg-Altona-Kiel railway should go through Barmstedt but as Elmshorn had more habitans the line went through it. Years ago there was a port railway that connected the station with the south of the harbour. It was replaced with trucks and the last tracks disappeared in 2002.
The Regionalbahn-Schleswig-Holstein runs with trains to Neumünster, Itzehoe, Pinneberg, and Hamburg-Altona. A Regional-Express connects Hamburg Hauptbahnhof with Kiel Hauptbahnhof. The private company Nord-Ostsee-Bahn rides from Hamburg-Altona to Westerland on Sylt. The Schleswig-Holstein-Express rides from Hamburg Hbf to Flensburg. AKN trains run to Ulzburg-Süd. On Friday an Intercity-train rides from Flensburg to Berlin Südkreuz and Köln Hauptbahnhof. The IC to Köln runs on Sunday, too, as an historic train.
On track 1 run the trains to Kiel, Flensburg, Neumünster and Westerland and one Regionalbahn to Itzehoe. On track 2 and 3 run trains to Pinneberg, Hamburg and Itzehoe as well as the Intercitys. On track 1a runs the AKN. The bus station (ZOB (German for "Zentraler Omnibusbahnhof")) is located in front of the station.

Krückau is a river in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein in the north of Germany. It flows into the river Elbe near Seestermühe. The 11.3 km (7.0 mi) lower part between the Elbe and Elmshorn is navigable but not classified.

Good video! The inner city is quite nice, with many buildings from the age of the German Kaisers. The outer quarters look like everywhere else. (Several times we had to look for a petrol station there. When we use car sharing to go up the West Coast, the cars always seen to be low on fuel near Elmshorn ...)
You most likely went to a gas station along the B431 then. It's not the nicest road, but not the worst as well 😁

Elmshorn hat vor Jahrzehnten den Wandel von einer Industriestadt zur Wohnstadt verpasst. Im Innenstadtbereich sammeln sich alte Industriegebäude. Vorallem die Ecke Ex-Krämer - Kibeck - Vormstegen - Berliner Strasse. Auch der sich anschließende Marktplatz mit Markthalle und seinem verseuchten Boden. Die Köllnflocken Werke mit den alten Hafenanlagen.
Elmshorn ist ausserdem Verkehrsknotenpunkt der Bahn. Hier trennen sich die Gleise Richtung Norden. Deshalb der große innerstädtische Bereich hinter dem Bahnhof.
Im Gegensatz dazu hat Elmshorn mit dem Liether Wald, dem Krückaupark und dem Stadtpark auch seine schönen Ecken mit viel grüner Fläche. Zum wohnen und leben hat Elmshorn alles was man braucht.
Das Innenstadtsterben ist ein bundesweites Problem das natürlich auch vor Elmshorn nicht halt macht. Vor 20 Jahren war es in der Innenstadt deutlich geschäftiger als heute mit viel reichhaltigerem Angebot.
Alles in allem wird der Titel des Videos Elmshorn nicht gerecht. Da hätte der liebe Flexxen eher in Pinneberg Halt machen müssen. Da sieht die ganze City aus wie von unten durch ne Betonplatte gedrückt.
Bro Pinneberg ist 10x mal schöner und sicherer als Elmshorn

Jede, wirklich jede Stadt, Großstadt, jedes Dorf, etc hat seine "schönen Ecken". Elmshorn hat einfach viel zu wenige davon! Ich weiß warum ich weg gezogen bin, das gesamte Stadtbild wirkt sich auf die Mentalität der Bewohner aus.

Yes , indeed, this is so sad, 5 days full of rain, i didnt see the sun for 5 days, no activity here!!! Its 16 february, all restaurant 60+ years, no young people, industrial area...

I don't know why they call it Germany's ugliest city! It's one of the nicest places you have visited in Germany! Perhaps they are referring to the people that live there?🤔😆
It's haaaard, you know. I personally don't like it soo much there as well. There are some nice corners, like the ones I've visited here, but the places you arrive in the city (highway or railway station) are really shabby and the part of the city shown here in this walk is rather secluded from a large part of the city by large roads and railway tracks. Still, it's by far not the ugliest city!
