What i like about Reza Aslan is, he always differentiates when he is talking as a scholar or as a muslim or as an ex-christian, and even having tremendous amount of knowledge about this topic, never claims to have the ultimate truth.

Reza enjoys using his "own words" to create more doubts about who Jesus is, rather then using "Jesus own words" in clearing stating who He is. It is your choice which man you choose to put your faith in. But make not mistake, faith is what you have to use to believe either one.

I am an atheist turned mystic. I always resonated with Taoist and Buddhist thought more than Christianity, and eastern spirituality has been my path. But if I had to choose to live out my spiritual devotion as a Christian or a Muslim, I would choose to be Christian faster than you can blink an eye.

His wit is wonderful. What I gained from him, above all else, though, is the way he puts into high relief the fundamentalists in this country against the teachings of Jesus. When he says Jesus was deadly earnest when he said the rich shall be last. This totally turned upside down the rich and poor hierarchical strucure then and now. So many including the White House occupant totally disregard the words of Jesus while proclaiming a monopoly on Christianity.

Hard to call one's self Christian in an age where Rome has "Christians" worshipping the state.

If there is a Jesus' spiritual look i can see it in Reza Aslan's face.
I'm neither a "Christian" nor a "follower of Jesus", but I cannot see any man in all history of mankind more interesting than Jesus. I'm just obsessed with Jesus, hence why i'm here. "Jesus" still keeps getting reincarnated in many individuals all over the world in every era. Maybe "Jesus" always appears in the middle of the struggle of man and his society, One vs. Many.

And that was a Jewish REVOLUTIONARY. One of THE MOST POLARIZING figures in HISTORY. Whose words GET TWISTED & TIED. AND WHO IS CONSTANTLY MISQUOTED.

God is supernatural. He made all natural laws which he can overrule. God came to earth in the form of baby Jesus, grew up, died and rose from the dead then rose into the heavens. Our human minds find this hard to understand yet it's true.

So to sum up: The stuff in the bible about Jesus did not happen in the real world. It's a fiction that we call faith. Exactly. It's the fools that think faith is truth that have caused so much pain, misery and death for 2000 years. IT'S A STORY. Please everyone grow up. There is truth and there is faith. They are two very different and often contradictory things.

Reza states that in the Gospels, there are fictional accounts and re writes to make Jesus less Jewish and to remove blame from Romans which is very evident. I am wondering what evidence and what historical data does he use to place Jesus in history. Why does Reza believe that Jesus died in the 30s AD, the Gospels? The zealot movement became relevant in the 60s. How are we sure Jesus did not die in the 60s. It seems that using the Gospels for historical data is a problem.

Agustus orders a Census and Jesus is born
jesus was a teckton= builder a Mason in skill
    Pontuis = bridge builder,and Pilate= spear
"the spear that pierced his side was ordered from the bridge builder"
Jesus was executed in the true place of the scull [golgoletha] just across the Kidron valley bridge on the outer wing of the temple known as the Miphkad alter= [numbering census] where jesus was crusified [note] Bethphage was located hereon the mount of olives as was the Sanhedrin seat of moses and this is where David angered the Lord by NUMBERING [Miphkad] his people.
the Miphkad of his name is 666 [note] read the first chapter of Numbers
Solomon received 666 talents of gold each year from his wife Sheba of Sudan
see the Numbering or the saints in true understanding and count
learn the parable of the Talents and the numbering of his sheep through the gate as they mark the head and count the number of the beast
do not enter by any other way than the gate or you are a thief

But for those who know Jesus in truth, his "spirit" remains the same across all peoples, tribes and nations, for his is the spirit of God's love within him that makes the difference. We see the spirit of God, his mercy, compassion & freedom leading the Hebrews out from bondage, being the spirit of freedom, and that of Charity giving in effort that they are delivered from the spirits that come with hunger and thirst that they have Peace, for God's spirit is of that of love seen in Jesus also. To really know Jesus is to know his spirit, in the way that he went, in the way of his being, in his reminding us that we could have Peace in abiding in truth, the spirit which preserves life giving us signs of the spirit so that we are aware of how evil works through People in denying the truth. In Truth, Palestine was a named given by the Romans, after they exiled the Jews, those faithless souls of fear and Pride who sought to replace what God had given name to, leading to division in people going the roman way (the way of man), even as the spirit of sibling rivalry has divided the people in that of doubt, between Sara and Hagar whose complaints were herd by her grandson who believe Hagar in the spirit of Egypt, who choose not to go the way of the Spirit of Abraham, to honor that which God did proclaim, even about about Isaac, in the word being of the Spirit of prophecy, even to become a test of faith, of their loyalty in truth, not unlike the words of Jesus "call no man father but the Father in heaven, abiding in truth in the spirit of God; where in truth, a father who literally has a son is in the realm of truth, but he who is not a father but has man to call him Father is led to error, as it denies truth on some level, not in the realm of truth physically and spiritually denies the word of Jesus, even as God the Father of souls does so abide in truth in being called Father as he too has a son in the flesh and is the father of souls. You would think those who love God would humbly abide in the truth written, in honor of God, rather than go the way of Rome. But the miraculous thing is that God did what he said in the Word of God, that he would redeem the people he chose to keep the written Word, even the name given the Land Israel, that they be reestablished, those who honor his word, redeemed back in the land given their fathers in truth. Jesus spoke spiritually about the spirit of the people in how they would be recognized, even in the kingdom of heaven; that those who are rich who prey upon the weak and unsuspecting, their spirit of taking advantage, even of their vital needs as to make a profit, those not being in the spirit of Truth and compassion but go the way of selfish Pride, as animals in survival of the fittest, denying the truth on some level, where their spirit is one that offends God, for these are taking advantage of his children lost, in doubt, led astray to be afflicted of the unloving ways of the world, preyed upon, even killed in lack of understanding or left to suffer because of the policies of selfishness and denial, putting fear and pride above truth, even as the many wore out their bodies laboring for the betterment of the nations, where their love given for the sake of others goes unrecognized, in the spiritual blindness of man; that they suffer poverty in old age and disability, suffering of their labors with little complaint and little rest, afflicted of the ways of the world, in the harm that comes in denying the truth on some level as to save money. These are those who labored for the nation, that their children have a foundation of comfort, which they paid for with their health and love, that the world would be better for their children, even as their children will labor for their children after them, the value not fully recognized, building upon the foundation of those who came before, yet building the kingdom, preparing for the Lords return; that the Lord makes good in good faith, in our good faith in the notes of promise given of the treasury (as the dollar) honoring the value of their labor, giving to the assets we have, printed to be used to care for His children and providing wealth in meeting the needs, even of love also; that the notes value comes from the labor honored by those of the kingdom in good faith, as the labor we do is of a greater value, only recognized in part, in the love that is given towards the prosperity of the Nation, yet falls short of the kingdom way. A Christian is a follower of Jesus, seeking the truth of the spirit in going the way of love in truth; that they may abide in his way of love in truth to receive of the benefits of the Kingdom way, even in governing, on earth and in heaven afterwards; where our children do not suffer in the ways we have taking upon in ignorance and lack of understanding, being of the ways of man in error in denying truth, going the way of unloving spirits of being that lead to error, that of suffering and fighting, rather than that of peace, love and prosperity. These are very real ways of being, of the spirits man takes upon, in the way they go about in life, even unaware, which effects the plight of our families, nations and even the world. Jesus came in the spirit of God, in his way of love, to shed light upon the ways of darkness in subtlety, that we can avoid error of that of the spiritual side of man which is of an animal like nature being uncivilized in a way, where God sent word of the spiritual truth that there is a better way, a way which gives us freedom peace and prosperity, if we could only have the tiny bit of faith to turn from the way of the unloving spirit of denial, and go the way of love in truth, even to believe we are children of God, our souls of him. We are spiritual being guided in spirit, that which most are unaware of., but to see the spirit of ones being, is to have the truth which is a path that is free from error, a way where the truth is addressed on all levels that all have peace, prosperity free from the spirits of fear and doubt, even peace of mind. The way of Jesus.

Reza Aslan is the most spurious biblical scholar around. Even amateur scholars do a much better job. Yet he keeps bitching about the lack of sophistication of atheist commentators.
    1) Revolutionary armed Jesus was not a popular iconographic image in Latin America. It was an artifact of communist propaganda, maybe adopted by the revolutionary peasants, but not by the majority of peaceful peasant farmers.
    2) The notion of Jesus as king is not 'european' but a biblical notion. It says it right there on the cross, Reza, "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews". Also, wasn't Jesus supposed to have a kingdom, you know, the kingdom of god?
    3) Reza says there are 3 reliable "facts" about the historical Jesus, yet he does not give the textual sources and reason for this claim of historical reliability. Is he talking about the testimonium flavianum? Why does he bypass any controversy on the authenticity of that passage in Josephus? Is he talking about the epistles of Paul? In the epistles it's not clear whether Jesus is an angel or an actual person. In Galatians Paul refers to James as "the brother of the Lord", which suggests that Jesus was an actual person and that James was his brother, but that's the only reference we have for a historical Jesus in the epistles.
    4) Reza then goes on to describe his search for the historical Jesus, and what do we get? References to passages of the gospels. But how do we know the gospels are historical? We don't get an answer.
    5) If it was a historical reality that "the Jesus movement" was such a threat to the romans and the status quo that he got crucified, why doesn't Josephus mention Jesus in this manner? The Antiquities of the Jews are full of details and stories of the various groups and leaders that got stoned and crucified for diverse crimes, they document quarrels among the authorities of the temple (the sadducees), they mention minor religious leaders, lots of other important people called Jesus, James and Simon, but no specific reference to a crucified Jesus.
    6) Also in the Jewish Wars, Josephus documented in extreme detail the revolutionary movements, revolts, uprisings and the entire history of the Zealot movement, and of the Jewish-Roman war that led to the destruction of the second temple, with no mention to a Jesus at all. Reza is getting all his data from the gospels and is smuggling them as history.
    7) Reza engaged in a confirmation bias to entertain his beloved marxist reading of the gospels and of Jesus, which is basically all we're gonna get from him. After all, Marx is one of Reza's intellectual heroes (his words).

Aslan stated publicly on Fox that he had a PhD in the history of religion. That's a lie. He has a PhD in sociology. His doctorate was on Jihad as a social movement, which he equates with feminism and other modern civil rights movements. Here he says you have to look at Jesus as a Jew. But, Jesus' teachings are Helenistic and very dissimilar to the Judaism either of his own time or ours. There's no evidence in the NT of Jesus being a warring zealot. Aslan promotes Islamic Jihad as a civil rights movement, but denigrates Christianity as a failed violent revolution. He wants to emphasise Jesus' "Jewishness" to alienate the audiences affections towards Christianity, which is part and parcel of Islamic culture which is ant-Jewish and anti-Christian. He also has said that Islam is peaceful and that Saudi Arabia are the most "extreme" Muslims and don't represent the overwhelming majority of Muslims. Again, this is Shia Islamic doctrine and a reflection of his Iranian heritage in which Iranians view themselves as Persians, heirs to a great civilisation, and hate Arabs. He is not just a liar and a fraud, but a uniquely Islamic/Iranian racist with a very clear agenda.

This man speaks nonsense, Muhammad did not reform the existing religion of his time, he eradicated all the existing religions of his pagan counterparts and established Islam as the religion of Arabia by the sword

if you read the quran he is called a reformer, he is referred to as the Khatimun Nabiyu, the last of messengers from God after jesus and also Quran is in islam a Furqan, the criteria to Judge right from wrong, so yes Islamically he was a big reformer, even if you dont like it :) peace out
