  • RS No 1 Colin Archer was built in 1893 as a prototype of a new rescue vessel for the rough Norwegian coastline. She proved her seaworthyness and 37 similar sailing resque cutters were built. She is still sailing, here from the first leg in the Tall Ships Races 2014. Read more at www.colinarcher.no.

Colin Archer was the first man to settle in my home town in Queensland. He drove 10.000 sheep into the area. in 1855. He was a scots man living in Norway. He left Queensland and returned to Norway where he builts ships and good ones at that.

I would love to do things like this but alas the Tall ships races do not come here to Melbourne Australia....

blocks on jib sheets still in use in today's catamarans... and 11.2 knots ! Not a slow boat in spite of it being heavy and undercanvassed.

Very impressive race win! I enjoyed the nice video and imagined being aboard that special boat. Fair winds!

That's a great windlass! Nothing like that here in the U.S. Who is the manufacturer? It would look great on my 115 year old Colin Archer.
RS 1 is looking great! Fair winds!

Thanks Besh, The windlass is just great, but I'm afraid the manufacturer is not in the business anymore...What they did 120 years, lasts for another 120 years. Good luck on your maritime projects! Tor

I love these yachts, if one was for sale I would be very tempted to buy it. Until then, my smaller version a William Atkin 'Thistle' (32ft) will have to do.

Yes, there is one for sale in the Netherlands, have a look at www.colinarcheremma.com/content/welkom and on the YTchannel of the son of the builder ruclips.net/channel/UCRV55JFmcvmPoDtmw2KbncQ with a dozen video's.
      My favorite : ruclips.net/video/vYO4_SIyAbE/видео.html
