Ivan you will definitely need a ecu remap now without the cat. Also 95% of the time a camshaft position sensor fault means the timing is out. It is very rare for the sensor to be faulty. Your bad timing probably probably did burn a hole in the cat but removing it won’t fix it without a remap. Get the timing chain done and get a remap.

The sensor is telling you that your bank 2 camshaft is out of sink* this means you have loose timing chain, A SENSOR TELLS YOU WHAT IS WRONG, then you fix what is wrong, you don't replace the sensor because you don't like what it tells you, however, if you do replace sensor make sure you go to Mercedes dealer to get new part, the aftermarket sensors will not work, if they do work it will be for a short while, and most of the time you to program the new sensor serial number into the ECU or it WILL NOT WORK, only the dealer can do that, but YOU DON'T NEED A SENSOR, you need engine timing chain, nobody can do this unless they have the Mercedes special tools and programming software, for Mercedes, just take to dealer, otherwise you make it worse to where it cannot run at all. With this car it is NOT possible to operate the engine without catalytic converters, YOU MUST HAVE THEM ON CAR, what will happen is the car will run lean, it will think there is too much un-burnt fuel in the exhaust and run lean, this will cause you car to run rough, run HOT and in a short amount of time cause engine damage. YOU CANNOT BUY Mercedes parts other than the Mercedes dealer, 95% of online cheap parts are counterfeit, this will only make things worse because THEY DON'T WORK CORRECTLY!! You should first put back on the catalytic converters, but you are lucky there because with them, they can be aftermarket and bought cheaper, after you put them back on X3, TIME TO START OVER, take car to M-dealer, have them analyze with their special equipment, THEY WILL TELL YOU WHAT IS WRONG, then you decide how you can fix cheaply.

You could have asked - without some additional software tricks usually the O2 sensors will always throw a fault after the cat is deleted assuming you have 02 sensors both pre and post catalytic converter. On US models, you'd need to complete a ~50 mile drive cycle even if you replace the cat with the real thing before the MIL goes off (as long as everything is OK) ... On the lights - buy some external rally lights and call it a day.
Stay away from 90+ Mercedes, BMW’s and Audi’s. Junk… They are made for people that buy a new car every 3-4 years. They are engineered to last 4 years, just past the warranty. After the 3-4 year mark, they don’t care if they fall apart.
They weren’t meant to directly compete at first but later did. The Cougar was meant to be more upscale and nicer. But I think ford later actually decided that the cougar does not have the same name recognition and following that the Mustang has so they later offered the higher end features on the Mustang in the form of the “Mustang Grande.”
Ivan before buying another car you need to do your research, listen to commenters and have any car checked out by good mechanic before you buy. I know nothing about car engines and have made a few bad choices in my life but I learned to get my mechanic to check out first. Cheap is good but you gotta know what you’re facing for repairs. My mechanic says he makes fewer repairs on Toyotas than any other auto.
When you are on a small budget, sometimes you have to decide, you can get some things fixed....Labor is cheap in this Country, its not the USA, Canada or Europe.

The pieces in the Catalytic converter can sometimes flow back to the Muffler, partially blocking air flow. ...When you start the car, put your hand in the tail pipe and see if there is proper air flow. ..If not change the Muffler, because this could damage the Engine badly.

your catalytic converter can be cleaned out with dish detergent and the oxygen sensor .no need to buy them that millage puts smut on them ,like a chimney.that noise is a bearing going out on your pulley, idler,or a/c clutch bearing.. the cam shaft sensor does not make noises.
Here in Canada we can no longer remove the CAT. The environmental laws are so strict now that no garage would risk their business license to do that. You see, there's another advantage of living in Thailand. Although, with more modern cars, you can't just remove the CAT without causing other problems. I know, it sucks balls!
Cat converters is the best thing ever happen to and exhaust system. Number one is none of that raw gas fumes out of the tail pipe and number two is the coverter traps most of the heat from your engine which in turn your exhaust system last a long time because of so much less heat burning it out.

The smog would create acid rain then blow East and then rain down on steel foundries slag piles which would melt into the water table. It was like California was rolling coal on the states to the East.

We ended up going to the Mercedes dealership (which was far away) and paying through the nose to get it fixed. That car is the Lincoln-Mercury Cougar. My dad bought one of those back in 1967 when it first debuted. Back then because of the huge success of the Ford Mustang, Ford approved its Lincoln-Mecury division to come out with a "luxury Mustang-style car." The answer was the two-door sport coupe style car that you see at 5:58. That one looks to have the big block "muscle car" engine. My dad's Cougar had the small block 289 cubic inch V8 engine. But if you wanted a speed demon muscle car, which were very popular in the sixties and seventies, you could order the Cougar with a 428 cubic inch Cobra Jet Ram Air engine, which was rated at 335 horsepower (that was fast for a car in the 1960s). To complete the muscle car configuration, you could get the Cougar with a 4-speed manual transmission. As intended, the Cougar had a richly appointed interior. That was to attract buyers who were Ford Thunderbird owners, guys who drove luxury cars, and who didn't like the Ford Mustang's less refined interior.

I had a girlfriend with that same camshaft sensor error. I swapped the sensors and the problem remained on the same location. It didn’t follow the sensor. The problem was the computer. I got a new one from a junkyard for $200 and her mechanic charged $200 to reprogram it.

your catalytic converter can be cleaned out with dish detergent and the oxygen sensor .no need to buy them that millage puts smut on them ,like a chimney.that noise is a bearing going out on your pulley, idler,or a/c clutch bearing.. the cam shaft sensor does not make noises.
Here in Canada we can no longer remove the CAT. The environmental laws are so strict now that no garage would risk their business license to do that. You see, there's another advantage of living in Thailand. Although, with more modern cars, you can't just remove the CAT without causing other problems. I know, it sucks balls!
Cat converters is the best thing ever happen to and exhaust system. Number one is none of that raw gas fumes out of the tail pipe and number two is the coverter traps most of the heat from your engine which in turn your exhaust system last a long time because of so much less heat burning it out.
@@allenelswick6961 Yes, it burns all the unburned fuel entering the exhaust. I remember when California's smog was so bad that other states sued them. The smog would create acid rain then blow East and then rain down on steel foundries slag piles which would melt into the water table. It was like California was rolling coal on the states to the East.

My ex wanted to buy a Smart car. It's a product of Mercedes Benz. It was doing some strange things and had a check engine light. My normal mechanic could not talk to this stupid car. We ended up going to the Mercedes dealership (which was far away) and paying through the nose to get it fixed. Unfortunately, the repair did not come with a tube of KY Jelly to ease the pain from the f***ing.

That car is the Lincoln-Mercury Cougar. My dad bought one of those back in 1967 when it first debuted.
Back then because of the huge success of the Ford Mustang, Ford approved its Lincoln-Mecury division to come out with a "luxury Mustang-style car." The answer was the two-door sport coupe style car that you see at 5:58.
That one looks to have the big block "muscle car" engine.
My dad's Cougar had the small block 289 cubic inch V8 engine. But if you wanted a speed demon muscle car, which were very popular in the sixties and seventies, you could order the Cougar with a 428 cubic inch Cobra Jet Ram Air engine, which was rated at 335 horsepower (that was fast for a car in the 1960s). To complete the muscle car configuration, you could get the Cougar with a 4-speed manual transmission.
As intended, the Cougar had a richly appointed interior. That was to attract buyers who were Ford Thunderbird owners, guys who drove luxury cars, and who didn't like the Ford Mustang's less refined interior.

CC are frequently stolen from parked cars, apparently they can be sold for big bucks if you steal enough in a few hours. It only takes a few minutes to dismantle. My friend’s shop had several cars parked overnight and every single CC was stolen.

These inspections include checks on emissions to ensure they comply with the legal standards. If your vehicle fails, you might be forced to have it fixed. The Department of Land Transport (DLT) oversees vehicle inspections and emissions testing. They ensure that vehicles meet the required emission levels as part of the registration renewal process. Perhaps it might not be policed dilligently however.

Most people wear slip ons in Thailand no matter how dangerous the job, Tae is a good honest mechanic, it’s just that a Mercedes is not a car they would have dealt with before, it’s not the car I would buy, as I’m more about practical and not paying a premium for parts.

Iconsiam is the best . The view from Starbucks is my fav . Our favorite restaurant is Bangkok is called SAVOEY . There are a few locations but the best one is on the river near the palace . Order an appetizer of WINGED BEAN SHRIMP SALAD . It’s a dish that’s impossible to find outside of Thailand . Everything else on the menu is great as well .

Think traffic is bad in Moscow, in Chicago Illinois the highway is shut down daily for 6 hours for investigation when someone gets shot dead or someone dies from a head on collision by intoxicated wrong way driver. The drunk driver always survives.

I had a girlfriend with that same camshaft sensor error. I swapped the sensors and the problem remained on the same location. It didn’t follow the sensor. The problem was the computer. I got a new one from a junkyard for $200 and her mechanic charged $200 to reprogram it.

As soon as I heard "Catalytic converter rattling" I am guessing the problem is as follows.. In my experience CC starts rattling and is inoperativ very soon after leaded fuel has been put in the car. Now to watch and find out if I am correct

Timing chain tensioners and timing. Something is fucked. Camshaft sensor errors are never sensor errors...This S class won't be cheapest in Thailand for long.
