I cannot speak to AI much as yet, however, I take this opportunity as a ‘spark’ to learn more about it. I have a very dear friend who creates robotics for certain prosthetic users and, from what I can tell, I would imagine this AI work to be a creative expression, or an ‘in’ to it, if used properly/respectfully. Thanks for the spark.

I love hearing this, and I know that AI is already assisting people like your friend in making truly valuable discoveries and advances in medicine, chemistry, engineering, and many other fields. This sounds like a great use of this tool! The outlook is more complex for people in the arts, though, because the AI tools "scrape" material from all over the web, which means that a reporter who worked for months on a major research article for the New York Times, for example, will have his or her work taken without credit and put into a "digest" and sometimes even sold by someone else. So we have much to learn about how to use this tool in a way that is fair and that doesn't become a substitute for our own ingenuity and artistry. Thank you so much for weighing in here with such an important example of a good use of AI.

As a door opener. Yes, and the Artist would be the feeler, the creator, the maker.

Yes! That’s it exactly. And that’s how we use every tool and inspiration as a spark to send us into our own ingenuity and imagination. You live this! Thank you so much for your comment.

I agree with you and The Bard's. It concerns me the lack of integrity and honoring the artist with AI. It is a tool. It is great that you addressed this.

Dee, thank you so much for watching and for weighing in here. You've given us a perfect word to bear in mind in this subject and in all others: integrity. Our compass and guide!

Fascinating, Kate! Thank you so much for sharing. I don't use AI at all for my creative work. I have used it for copywriting (website and sales copy, first version only) because it does make the lrocess easier and faster. But with my creative work I love having the spark of an idea just as much as moulding it into shape. Even when my first ideas turn out to be less great I love the discovery process. It is extremely satisfying to me!

Thank you for this, Miriam. It's really helpful to hear how you are and aren't using AI. And I completely agree with you about the fun and thrill of discovery and creation. We'll never give that up, right? Lovely to "see" you here and all good wishes for your awesome creativity!

Super insightful! I’m drawn to the comparison between serving guests take-out food versus a legitimately home-cooked meal.

That's a brilliant image! Great that we can get take-out in a pinch, but wouldn't all of us rather eat a thoughtful and lovingly-cooked meal? Thanks for weighing in here.

I agree that the original producer of the work should be acknowledged,
It actually makes themselves more authentic and knowledgeable by passing on / sharing that information .
Even to acknowledge using AI brings a certain light heartedness to the table

Great talk about AI. As a high school teacher, I had two fellas submit papers for an assignment (thinking I probably wouldn't read them anyway). Well, as I read first the one, then the second, it struck me that no question had actually been answered: it was all fluff! Needless to say both boys received the lowest grade I was allowed to give, and amazingly I got not a single word of protest from either boy.

You said it: fluff. Emptiness. It's eerie and I've come to hate it. I know there are some great uses for AI, but writing essays is not one of them. Thank you for your comment and for your great work as a teacher. So glad to meet you!

I love being human with all the suffering and joy involved. Never would I use AI for my creative works. That said, I believe in resources and books and looking "something up" on the internet. I believe the poet has a spiritual connection to our worlds and I understand the high position they would hold. Even musicians are divinely inspired, I think the bottom line, then, for me ,is do I feel transported in my little dark room on my bed? Yes. No AI there when I write. Oftentimes when I am painting, hours go by that feel like minutes. The humanness of creativity cannot be replaced! Thank goodness.💚

So beautifully expressed: "the humanness of creativity cannot be replaced." I agree completely and thank goodness indeed! Even if the product were the same - and it isn't, by a long stretch - we would miss the opportunity to use our minds, hearts, hands, bodies, voices, and imaginations to actually create, and what a loss that would be. Thank you, my creative friend, for your reflection and for using YOUR creative power in this world!

I think using AI as a tool would be preferable to lying in a dark airless chamber chewing raw flesh.

From the perspective of collective consciousness/morphic resonance where ideas, intentions, creative acts are absorbed in to the field and thus accessable to all without attribution, is AI analogous to this? Just a thought from the "devil's advocate".
Certainly there's a general want for immediate returns without the wondrous long road of knowledge and experience thus negating firm rooted wisdom.
I haven't had need or want to use AI as yet but I do love that I can pick up my phone and find info on absolutely anything that comes to mind, looking into several sources to come to my own consensus.
It would not do to ask AI to create anything for me- I'm creative enough, as we all are given the chance.
Thankyou. Your videos open up many paths to wander one's thoughts along. 🕯️🙏🕯️

I'm with you entirely in believing that any one idea is "sourced" by many, many thinkers, AND wishing to acknowledge specific people who have helped me think in new ways I wouldn't have reached on my own. I agree, too, that there will never be a substitute for what you so beautifully describe as "the wondrous long road of knowledge and experience." And we wouldn't want to miss the chance to grow and create and stretch which is one of the most thrilling aspects of being alive. I appreciate your comment so much. There are many sides of this complex issue and I believe we'll be exploring it for many years to come. Thank you for weighing in here.
